This is my interpretation of Jeff Beck's 'Over the Rainbow' guitar cover. I recorded my first version of this last year, but thought I'd try it again!! :)
Toby has captured the feel and style of Jeff Beck as well as anyone I’ve ever heard great job I think we’re gonna be talking about this guy as the next big thing I follow him and does a great cover of where were you Jeff Beck has obviously had a lot of influence on his playing style I love it! there’s a giant hole left by Jeff’s passing now go find your Vinnie and Rhonda and start the next big thing!
Sorry i didn't watch this sooner. WOW just straight up beautiful and watching you play the harmonics, I felt that you recreated the magic Beck displayed in this song. I enjoyed every second of it, thanks for sharing this cover and keep on playing.
I've commented on this video. I would say, work on your on style. I'm confident that you would simply amaze. The world awaits you. I can hardly wait... Believe, and it will be so. Thanks again for sharing.🙏
Absolutely phenomenal cover Toby! I'm looking to learn one or two of Beck's tunes for an upcoming recital, I was wondering if you could send me the backing track for this and A Day In The Life? That would be greatly appreciated. Rock and roll.
Wow only just discovered this channel! Amazing job! The control you have with the whammy bar must have taken some serious practice! What amp settings are you using here btw? Superb sustain!
Toby, I realize this video was posted long ago but I have a question: Even with the vast variety of great guitars and equipment I have along with decades of experience I still have trouble getting harmonics to sustain long enough to get through some of these phrases. Are you getting these notes to sustain this long with the help of 'feedback' through a mic'd amp or are you still able to do it somehow through a DAW and plugin of some kind? I am now using Helix Native plugin from Line 6 but can't seem to get those loooong ringing harmonics unless my gain is so hot that it ruins the tones. Any suggestions? Anyone? Toby, your playing has that element that will always set you apart from other musicians. I am so impressed by what you have done in this video.
Have you tried a compressor, or limiter? Boss Compressor Sustainer? Also a half gauge or full gauge heavier string can help quite a bit, along with more relief in the neck / higher action. This is what I think is ment by "tone is in the hands"...a guitar that's set up to kick out some volume and loud, clean, sustaining notes is physically more difficult to play. But try compressor or limiter first before doing a guitar reset-up. Beck says he uses a "sustainer". Folks say his action is low.
@@jfo3000 : Jimmy: Many thanks for your detailed comments! Sorry it took so long to respond. This is good info. The real issue here (and I'm stating the obvious) is trying to maintain the sustain of an otherwise clean note along with trying to make a harmonic ring out on a clean note. Of course this is where Jeff Beck shines, just one among so many other ways. The 3d fret on the A string in particular is a trying one for me unless I have a very hot tone. I don't otherwise have a problem with the 'mechanics' of the song, trem-bar control, pinky swells on the Strat, etc., but Toby's Beck-like tone and ability to make those soft notes sustain as he does still eludes me. I have lots of great stuff collected over decades of playing but these days most of my playing goes straight into my Mac with Logic using Helix Native and S-Gear which have all of the digital effects and do help. But again, I find that I need a tone hotter than I would like in order to get the sustain and harmonics. Perhaps I should trying doing more of this through a real amp which might make the difference. Thanks for weighing in!
You're great, and I almost never say that. You can check me out on RUclips if you want by searching for "Robert Charles All Of Me" there's a few videos there
THAT WAS BRILLIANT TOBY 👍, ABSOLUTELY SUPER DOOPER 👌.
IT'S NOW OCTOBER 27th 2021 & I'VE ONLY JUST COME ACROSS THIS LOVELY MELODY 😃.

E' bravo davvero. Raro trovare tanta delicatezza ed espressività. In un mare di chitarre senza cuore, a tutta velocità verso...la plastica...
Beautifully done Sir. Thank you for sharing.
Incredible, what a feeling! Beck would be proud!
Thanks! I arranged it myself, from the original Jeff Beck version

Brilliant as usual... Don't stop...
Magnificent! Where did you get that backing track from?
Truly inspiring. Makes me want to get back into playing again after neglecting music far too long!
Very cool!👍
Another cracking job. But my favourite tune is 'Where were you'. How about listing your signal chain? Amp effects etc.
すばらしい!表現力もアーミングも完璧。
Superb Toby!!!
Excellent young fellow
Very Special. You have a future in guitar playing. You've got those long spider fingers Vai has and the feel of Beck.
Big props.
Luv and Peace.

Dude that was phenomenal! Not a bum note, beautifully accurate, technically spot on, and skilfully executed. Amazing.
