      Legacyyyyyyyyyyyyyy (ahhh ) I think you’re seeing the same thing we all are seeing ! Myself and others are just commending the man for representing the minority, which is underrepresented in Nursing & healthcare period, and that is Fact rather you choose to believe it or not is up to you! But I have several examples I can provide, where race and ethnicity was the ONLY thing that mattered. Look around in the ICUs and you do the math!

      @@Legacyyyyyyyyyyyyyy we need more black nurses and physicians considering that medical racism was a thing and minorities are more like to get misdiagnosed/mistreated. Encouraging minorities to enter this field of work is a big deal and huge accomplishment. Don’t understand why you’re pressed about that.

    I’ve worked in surgery for 15 years and finally decided to start my journey to becoming a CRNA. I start ICU this November and I’m nervous as hell!! I know the change will be an obstacle I will overcome, sooo I’m walking into this journey with the attitude of I have set a goal and I will achieve it! Thanks to your video, that is a realistic goal. Keep inspiring and keep posting videos

      +UnBLeighVaBle thanks you!!! I didn’t want this channel to only exclaim about how hard it is to become a CRNA because truly I feel like where I am currently in the process, this may be the easiest part. The hard part is STAYING in school. But I’ll be documenting this journey as best as I can!! Congrats on starting in the ICU!!!!!! And that’s the same mentality I had!! Start knocking things off your list!!! On my website I have a shift timeline that’s downloadable that helped me remember the important details throughout my shift for report... I also do live goal planning sessions that you can book on there as well

      +B. H. You mean as a video? That’s something that I can do... but just to answer it quickly! I think our presence is definitely needed for balance, and for representation for our patients as well.... honestly I see more pros then cons. Sometimes I feel like we have to be extra cautious with what we say and what we do. We have to watch out for accusations from coworkers, patients, etc. also we can be a little more blunt with how we communicate so trying not to seem “intimidating” can be an issue. Oh and getting used regularly to pull up patients gets old 😂

    Love your videos!!! They’re super informative and helpful for those going through this process! My next question for you is...how’d you get determine which CRNA programs to apply to? There are so many schools that have different pre reqs. For example some places require a center train type of chem like organic chem, physics, or a stat class that was completed in less than 5 years! I graduated from my nursing program in 2017, so some of the classes I took before that are older than 5 years. I feel like sorting through the schools itself, to determine if you even qualify, can be tricky. Any suggestions on how you filtered out the schools you were eligible for? Thanks for your videos and awesome content!

    • @theCRNADrip
      @theCRNADrip  5 лет назад +5

      Thank you!!!! There is a chart on the allCRNAschools.com that you can purchase that has allll the info you need. When I started looking I separated them through that spreadsheet by what needed the GRE and what didn’t.... then I filtered through those schools according to the pre reqs that i already had, then I filtered those by location and cost and that’s how I came up with my list of schools

    • @Justmemy12
      @Justmemy12 5 лет назад

      It is very advisable you have pre meds or at least the basics science couse there’s a course of physics, chemistry and biochemistry on crna school that if you don’t have a good understanding of topics before you can have a really bad experience gathering all that information in a small lapse of time

    • @theCRNADrip
      @theCRNADrip  5 лет назад +1

      +MDIHSteam1 hey thanks! I’m glad you liked it! Soo the only way to tell is to LITERALLY input all of your grades in from your transcript in and it will calculate it for you. You don’t have to submit it even start an application to do it...it’ll pretty much weed out all the fluff classes that really don’t pertain to anything. So unless you took a tonnn it electives then I don’t see it affecting you too much. Congrats on starting in the ICU! Which icu are your in and what area are you from?

Where I am, it’s very hard to be in an ICU as a new grad so I took wherever they accepted me. I would like to have about 2 years in when I apply.

    Love all your videos, and now that I realize you got accepted into my dream school, I just have one question. On All CRNA Schools, they say Augusta requires a chemistry within 5 years, but it doesn't state this on Augusta's actual site. My chemistry is from 9 years ago, so I'm wondering if it's worth me retaking it?

      Thank you! And I don’t believe that’s true, my chemistry was well outside of 5 years. I would always confirm with our program Manager. She’s awesome! Her info is on the site, but I wouldn’t invest in retaking it at this point

      @@theCRNADrip Wow thanks for the quick response too! I'll reach out to them, but that is reassuring. Can't wait for another video from you, man, it's almost been a year!

      @@LigmaMale69 I had a chemistry from 9 years as well. Ended up retaking it for a few reasons:
      1) to get an A grade . I had a B+
      2) it gives you more options of schools to apply to because many require a recent one , but you can only apply to the few schools that don’t
      3) you will be taking advanced anesthesia chemistry so it will be a good thing to refresh your memory on such
      This was my experience; although unsolicited, I was in the exact spot as you last year and felt compelled to reply..

      @@cardiyansane1414 I appreciate the reply! I actually decided not to retake the course, and have an interview at 4/4 schools so far. Augusta's hasn't opened yet.
      Did you end up getting into a program?
      I feel you are definitely right with regards to having a refresher. I have started using Khan Academy to do this in the meantime.
