For the leash vs brakes thing: I ended up swapping to leashes on my outlaws. My buddy and I noticed that we would occasionally catch the inside of the uphill ski tip/edge on the brake of the downhill ski. Mainly right after a lead change and getting back on edge.
Have heard of a few other people running into a similar issue, would be curious to know if anyone who watches has similar experiences. Could be technique/form related but it’s a mild annoyance that’s easily avoided with leashes.

I've heard that can be an issue with the brakes, but skied with a bunch of teleskiers that swear by them. I've never tried them, so I'm not sure which side I'd fall on. I'm curious about the design limitations of retractable brakes on the Outlaws. I suppose if you're stepping in and out of your skis all day (e.g. a patroller), the brakes are probably a godsend. I'm not in and out of my bindings that often, and I usually flip my boots in and out of hike mode so I'm bending down anyways and its not an inconvenience for me to use leashes. I'm curious about other teleskiers' experience with leashes versus brakes too!

@@NewSchoolTelemark I initially had Outlaw X with brakes but found that they would occasionally interfere with the turn on groomers when cranked over sufficiently but the main reason I switched to leashes was the ease of entry. The time it took to attach a leash was discernibly shorter than trying to engage the boot into the binding with the extra resistance of the brake lever, especially in softer conditions. Finally I still like the old school look of a leash!!

I'm curious on your mounting position, Is it because the NTN binding drives the ski more or something else? Coming from Alpine, I'm mounted about 2cm forward from recommended and have a more relaxed style.

I think my mounting position preference relates to my weight distribution. I definitely favor the rear leg a little more and the 2cm backward position puts my weight over the narrowest part of the ski. That allows me to drive / steer with the rear. Maybe I'll try to do a video on that since its easier to explain / understand with a visual. I tend to be skiing on twin tips and I found that my turns get a little washy at the recommended mount point. Any time I mount a pair of skis, I always start at recommended and then play with the mount position, which usually involves going 2cm back because the Outlaw X mounting pattern allows you to do that with only three new holes (two on the binding, one on the heel piece). If my theory has some truth to it, it would make sense that the recommended or even a forward mount might suit a higher stance. I'd be interested to hear about where others have tried mounting and what works best for them.
