This came about when Celine had a month break either in 97 or 98 and her and Rene were together having dinner and listening to Sinatra and it came up wouldn't it have been great if she could have sung with him. So Rene winds up calling Miss Sinatra since he knew her and she thought it was a great idea and then they got David Foster to produce it. It is beautiful but also sad as it was Rene and Celine's song and the philosophy of how they viewed things, when they decided to do something it was "All the Way".
And this was part of a special she did on CBS in 1999 called "All the Way A Decade of Song" before she took two years off to be with Rene after he got cancer and try for a baby. I have a copy of the whole special I can send you if want. Also I react the same way when I see Rene appear in videos, still so sad he is not around especially with what she is going through now.
You're spot on as usual in your pickup of Celine channeling her idol, Barbra, in this number. I personally love this sound more from Celine, although everything she does is fantastic. As for Frank, well, he is the greatest of all time male vocalists in my opinion, and Barbra female. There's actually a duet too between the two on "I've Got A Crush On You" that was recorded when Frank was still alive in 1993, he was 77 at the time, Barbra 51. She did do it at a live concert years later in 2000 after Frank passed, with a screen similar to what Celine did with a younger Frank, but I suggest the studio version that was done for her "Duets" album as the live one was a shorter homage and not the real thing.
