How Do Flies Bite?

- How do flies bite? In this video, we explore the answer. Biting flies have six "blades" on their faces. These are also called "stylets". Each stylet has a specific role in the biting process. The stylets that we see in this video come from a horse fly.

I have a criticism. He said "wood files" which are a thing but then the video showed files for metal. It would have been better to just say "files." I have no idea why they said wood files, just kinda weird, really.

It may sound dumb, but hear me out. I'm an engineer and work with a lot of non technical people. One day I was explaining how a centrifugal pump works to my 5 year old, and she explained it back in her vocabulary to make sure she got it. In this example, she described it as being like a floor fan for liquids.
Now, obviously it can be made to suit the audience a bit better, but if you have a 10-12 year old, I bet you could get some great simplification on complex problems.

Suddenly those giant fly enemies in Dark Souls 3 just became ten times scarier
😈
Except they literally have human mouths, and not any of the proboscises shown in this vid?
@@victorvillegas911 Nah, that just makes me think they have two jaws now; the “human” mouth is a front for their hidden saw blade teeth and that one tooth that’s basically a straw? Yeah that one would explain how they projectile vomit those bleed inducing leeches on to the player.
Great, now I’m even more freaked out by those enemies. Never trust a giant insect that smile “humanly” at you.
Crazy how such small creatures can still evolve to be so complex
Guess what some people still think this was an accident
@@mohamedkhalid5848lol so it's god made a little monster that sucks human's blood? What a good god 😂 fuck that god then
Sure it looks like that, but it didn't just appear out of sudden. You can see related groups have more/less complex structures like those
If it helps make more sense flies aren't small at all they are made of hundreds of thousands of cells with many moving parts of their own. They just seem small to us, but were just bigger, it's like comparing a sky scrapper to a mountain
@@mohamedkhalid5848Ffs evolution by natural selection does not only involve random mutations. It's more nuanced than 'species evolve by accident'.
