Looking at the movements, it seems that it can sense direction. I wonder if it uses a magnetometer for a compass, or just an IMU with Gyro and Accelerometer. I think a tear down is necessary. Probably very little in it, it’s all software based.

It seems about as intelligent as my Roomba that just bangs off the walls at random. It's possible it's working perfectly and this is just what it does.
It's interesting how it is able to climb up the walls and how it skips large sections and hits that one corner over and over. I bet you'll find the pain chipping off soon.
Really looks like it could use a bit more thrust from the top jet to allow it to grip and climb the walls. Does it ramp the pump power up and down? Wondering if there is an issue there with the control logic for it not ramping the power up enough.
It got sick of the job the robot was doing and decided to clean the pool itself. You can see how much better the ball's AI is at tracking and cleaning the edges. It has a nice decorative charger, but really needs an auto-home and charge routine rather than having someone lift it out and place it in the charger by hand.
Er I think you missed a spot... or two... or a whole bunch. If it was smart enough, you could upload a pool floor plan so it could climb up on the steps and run the lengths and possibly get to where it cleans half the pool. lol
Carefully orchestrated cleaning pattern by a pseudo-random number generator,...or an inebriated programmer. Truly underwhelming! But then what do you expect for a dozen or two Ozzy-Bucks? What? It cost how much?!
The ball is specially programed and designed by the same company to clean the surface of the water.
How are you finding your Madimack robot now after several more months of usage?

Swimming pool based autism is the best kind. I remember staying with a friend and the first thing I wanted to do was get their pool sparkling clean.
This is what the eevblog has come to? Pool cleaning?
Cleanliness means more time at the pub.

Twistin' by the pool!

Is there anyway to plot the grid pattern of the Pool Cleaner, to see if any spots are missed?
Davinci has a motion trails feature but I tried it and doesn't allow infinite coverage.
Add poo to the tracks?
That orange ball was having some fun until it was put in prison. I was waiting for it to escape from the bird and make its way back into the pool.
It shouldn't need to turn 180 degrees to go the opposite direction. If there are sensors on the top, then the top part should rotate like a turret.
Getting Better. Firmware Update.
You could feed it Baby Ruth bars, like in the movie Caddyshack 🍫💩
Goldfish AI 😊but it’s working it out 😊
Kind of amazing really
Bigger picture.it’s doing it ,and the end users don’t have to
But can I see it / find it on Google Earth?
seems a bit better. Maybe it needs Actual Intelligence rather than Artificial Intelligence
And still no solar cells on the bottom of the pool - still no solar swimways. What a waste, what a shame!!

There seems to be absolutely no logic in it's movements or wall climbing ability...
There is, it does the pattern o nthe floors fine, it's just that the walls can often get it confused and looks like it resets the algorithm.
10. Move forwards until obstructed.
20. Right 90.
30. Forward a little.
40. Right 90.
50. GOTO 10
I'd return it and look for a better cleaner.
