- This is sung between Harald and Halfdan right before they go to battle and is just a great song at a great moment right before a battle shared by two brothers fighting against one another knowing one will not make it. Let me know what you think in the comments and as always like and subscribe.
Song: Blood Eagle by Aaron Raz
lyrics:
Þat mælti mín móðir,
at mér skyldi kaupa
fley ok fagrar árar,
fara á brott með víkingum,
standa upp í stafni,
stýra dýrum knerri,
halda svá til hafnar
hǫggva mann ok annan,
hǫggva mann ok annan.
Þél höggr stórt fyr stáli
stafnkvígs á veg jafnan
út með éla meitli
andærr jötunn vandar,
en svalbúinn selju
sverfr eirar vanr þeiri
Gestils ölpt með gustum
gandr of stál fyr brandi. - Кино
As a boy, I once asked my father why he decided to give me the name Harald. He only said " One day you will thank me". And here I am... almost 10 years later, as a young viking reenactor. Life is ahead of me...and I'm proud to be able to call myself Harald
Harald means ruler of armies
@@nicrose3164 I know, and it is up to me to make my name worth. It is to me to do something with it
King Harald Goffart: If you ever lead a great Hethen army, you will let me know i hope...even though im in Western Canada.
@@TerfBashingMFer8021 If I do, You might hear tales about us before I reach you, but sure :D. Have you considered joinging a reenacting group there? Im sure there are some there, maybe around the region of "Vinland"
@@haraldgoffart im looking lol believe me lol. i need a little practice and some sparing but yea im going to visit Vinland if i can soon.
This song is: "My Mother Told Me"
Yes it's

This is not Blood Eagle! This song is called" My mother told me" in English
i was wondering the same thing

Its not my mother
@@sp_exotics1999 tf
@@sp_exotics1999 *Yes it is my mother, I understand what they are saying because of the small place in Norway that I come from, that still uses alot of Viking-dialect. Halfdan’s first words are: Þat mælti mín móðir. And the words: ”mín móðir” means ”my mother”. Here is the lyrics of this song:*
My mother told me
Someday I would buy
Galleys with good oars
Sails to distant shores
Stand up high in the prow
Noble barque I steer
Steady course for the haven
Hew many foe-men
Hew many foe-men
My mother told me
Someday I would buy
Galleys with good oars
Sails to distant shores
Stand up high in the prow
Noble barque I steer Steady course for the haven
Hew many foe-men
*(They have also added an extra line into the song about having the right to be called a Viking and changed the verses a bit in the series but I don’t know why they did that instead of keep singing this song’s original verses, so the lyrics is not 100% accurate)*
I wish I could speak old Norse or even Icelandic as that's the closest modern language to old Norse that's not dead.
the English version of this song is a little different but has the same tune. "my mother told me".
Faroese is even is closer to Old Norse thsn Icelandic
@@slothjon1960 This is "my mother told me" but in norse dude.
I can speak old Norse, because of the place in Norway that I am from. I come from Jæren in Norway, and at this little place, we still speak 60% like this, and that means that the rest of the country don’t understand us😂🤙
@@N0skGaming nice must be lucky! like 40% of my ancestry is from Norway and Scandinavia. I just wish I was taught the language.
This is actually a variant of chapter 40 from the _Egils Saga_ known as _My Mother Told Me._ It has *nothing* to do with a blood eagle or this Aaron Raz you speak of.
thank you for your Song i have injoy them
Those two could make an album and it was sell. Even if we dont understand wtf is being said, so long as someone dies shortly after.
the fara brott med vikingum is so satisfying for some reason
"fara bort med vikingar" in swedish
Wouldn't mind one of them tattoos
So get one it's your life
Good luck finding a job
bad thing is, you really can't get a job anymore.
@@johnprotagonist7296 people shouldn't judge one another based off looks if I was a manager and someone came into my store and he was covered head to toe in tattoos I wouldn't care about his tattoos or physical appearance (long as the tattoos arent rascist like a swastika) I'd just make sure he's fit for the job

Probably the reason why you are not a manager. The world is not a liberal college campus. A guy who looks like a cartell member will not be popular with customers. He just doesn't look like a professional (except when it comes to drugdealing)
Icelandic children sing this, but in a cheerful tone
I Loved the way the NorseMen Sing using here Throat it's so Majagic
Listen to how good it gets at 0.25 speed. That’s how it sounds after drinking ale from curved Horns for too long.
How long is too long? 🤔
I feel my ancestors speaking through my shield!!!

this song is not blood eagle it's the old norse version of 'my mother told me' aka 'this said my mother' and it's from the iclandic egil's saga from 1100 years ago.

Þat mælti mín móðir ( My mother told me )
Blood eagle in Old Norse is ( Bloðugr örn )
Yeah....this is "Min moder sa till mig" not Blodsörn
Ja, exactly! Hva faen i hellvette😡

They are actually speaking Icelandic, which is the closest still used language.
Its old Norse
@@topacybits3576 no its not, it's Icelandic, no one speaks Old Norse, go look it up
@@StortebeckerSF its old norse and there are more people out there than you know who know old norse. Ive studied old norse so dont at me. The scenes were ivar screams : Ek em Ivar the boneless... is also old norse. Icelandic is the closest language to old norse but deffo not the same
@@topacybits3576 get your head out wherever it is, go do the research on the show and you'll see you are wrong. No wasting my time arguing with you
@@StortebeckerSF @ToPacyBits - topacybits is right. The producers brought in Old Norse specialist Erika Sigurdson from the University of Iceland to translate parts of the script into Old Norse. Whilst Icelandic very close to Old Norse, ultimately it is Old Norse that was spoken.
Edit - typo on Icelandic
Pat maelti min modir
the fuck... this is my mother told me!
My mother told me

The song isnt called Blood Eagle, the song is littlerally in a saga
I never liked these 2 characters but that might have been the point
Why didnt you like them, i get that dont like harald since he fought the Lothbroks but Halfdan was a sick character for me
@@topacybits3576 maybe because Halfdan was with Harald but yeah for the most part Harald was always a weasel
*Halfdan’s first words are: Þat mælti mín móðir. And the words: ”mín móðir” means ”my mother” and has nothing to do with Blood Eagle. Here is the full lyrics of this song:*

The song has nothing to do with Blood Eagle !!
Rather this Song is
"My Mother told me"
This is so much more authentic than the english version from EA game.
Rough English translation (take it with a mountain of salt):
My mother said
That I should buy a galley
And beautiful oars,
Go away with the Vikings,
Sail to distant shores.
Stand up on the Prow,
Keeping (like) so to shore,
Hewing many foe-men
Hewing many foe-men.
And idk where you got the second verse from at all, but the translation i could gather was:
Thor strikes with steel,
like a stubborn bull
on the old road.
Out with (name?: éla meitli)
(Something about giants?)
But a good price
something I could get used to
(something about wind?)
Our steel is too tough for them
I dont know what's up with the second verse, honestly.
Man I knew the first verse sounded familiar
knowing one would not make it? you mean knowing one would sacrifice themselves for the other - halfdan could have never raised his axe to his brother / father. ever. and that was the point. and harald had to live with that for the rest of his life.
Blood eagle?! lol
Why hanna on face I paint my face but not with precision messy way..
Really misleading title🤣
Haldan is the Harald's father in fact. They're not brothers.
Hes referring to the show itself. In the show halfdan and harald are clearly brothers.

"My mother said,
that I should buy
galley and beautiful oars,
go away with the Vikings,
stand up in the stem.." even google translate knows the difference
