there is good reason why people like Nvidia. it is more stable, first thing 3d software devs do is to optimise their software for Nvidia as the majority of poeple use it. most softwares are well optimised for Nvidia. not saying AMD is bad at all but Nvidia is better.
From what ive seen. The rx 6950 xt and rtx 4070 cost the same but the rx 6950 xt outperforms the rtx 4070. But the rtx 4070 is better at raytracing and has nvidias ai tools.

No I just started looking into this myself for my next bill cuz frankly I'm open to both options, but they both seem to be of equal value despite being different prices. Despite the hardware being similar, the software and support Nvidia has compared to AMD could be a reason to explain this. I've used both Nvidia and AMD. Nvidia is better for content creators that need the extra features. AMD is better for the average gamer who care about value. AMD adrenalin also blows geforce experience out of the water, so many more options.
Since I am not that into gaming and use my card primarily for either video editing or ML. I'd choose Nvidia, otherwise AMD is better from a cost perspective.
Finally someone understands me. I hate when people think the only people building computers are gamers. NVIDIA is just so much better for professional software, maonly because of killer raytracing and developer kits for machine learning etc. But AMD is better for pure gaming.

Software is definitely AMDs weakness. A good portion of the settings in AMD adrenaline cause me issues. FSR vs DLSS too, DLSS is obviously the better software. That’s what having a trillion dollar market cap lets you do.
nvidia has like 1 program for settings on the entire computer, 1 for games that nvidia recognizes, obs and updating drivers, then theres the alt + z menu which is actually pretty useful if u are using it in a game that supports it.

Nvidia has never given me any problems. The graphics are great, ray tracing is awsome, I've gotten really good frame rate, and I've never had any issues with stability.
I just made this choice for my new build. I picked a sapphire nitro+ 7900 xtx. And I kicked Intel to the curb as well and went with a 7950x3d. I have had no issues playing my games at 1440p at a locked 144 fps.
nvidia has always been the more reliable and feature-rich option, which is why most people pick it, and people tend to pick popular options because this tends to be the case, not just because of popularity, with the exception of "lifestyle" brands like apple and "fashion" brands like gucci ... and with both of those types of brands, you tend to find that people pick it because of peer pressure and feelings
