A friend years ago had the snowmobile engine powered version. Without brakes we had stand by each wing tip for engine start (hand prop) and run up. He always stayed within gliding distance of the field and said if you leaned forward or backward in the seat....the tiny thing would go up or down. Pretty squirrally I always thought!!! The pilot speaking at the start of the clip is an Afrikaans speaking South African, although the airfield seems to have been positively identified as being in W. Australia.
This video footage was from at least 8 years ago but maybe even longer. It's sad that it didn't take off because it seems astounding. The actual CriCri aircraft was developed around 50 years ago in France. In 2010, an electric adaptation became the first ever electric aircraft to cross the English Channel. In the same year it also set a record for the fastest electric aircraft. It's hard to find a lot of info on even the aircraft let alone this Jet engine version. An aspiring French (or any national) filmmaker could make a really nice story here :)

There's no shortage of info on the plane outside of straight up plans for it. The engines are just RC turbine engines, they look very similar in size to the ones I have in my models, I would figure around 50 to 80 lbs of thrust each. In several other videos of these planes it looks like they've tried different brands of engines, I"m not sure about these blue ones, but there's a video with some gray ones which I believe may be AMT Turbines or Jetcat
That is so nice you should have a fleet of different aircraft I'd build a Lear and a Falcon 10 or 20, I wish I could be 20 years old again so I could have time to design and build different airframes, and I thought building and flying hang gliders was the in thing back in the 70's! Great aircraft my man !
If only those engines were good for more than 25 hours between service, this would be awesome. As it stands, I'd rather have a pair of axiro rotary motors with a combined 80 hp. Also, my favorite mini plane is the Davis DA-11.... but I also don't have a plane, and you guys do, so you've got that going for you.
I thought it sounded rather loud from the video of it taxiing. It is difficult for me to judge noise level based upon a video. I am sure it gets quieter the more one flies it.
Perhaps I'm mistaken but don't the flaperons usually go right to the tips? Are they shortened because of flutter or because of tip stall? I've seen a "normal" Cri-Cri doing a roll in France.
So the aircraft ego i VH-zse and thew initial call is to serpentine, a town in west Australia. aircraft is registered to a dutch man in australia. interesting
It should have been designed to have the engines in the back. To have it look just like the A-10 attack jet. That would have been wicked awesome! Then the pilot could be forward of the wings for an unobstructed view without the wings blocking the view. Probably would have been quieter for the pilot also. Still a cool plane though.
@@jean-pauldelomez5591 yes I agree. It's an amazing little plane that doesn't need a ton of power to fly well. I would like to some modify the design to have the engines mounted in the back and the pilot seating further forward at the leading edge of the wings. Then it would look more like the A-10 Warthog jet. :)
Yes it is probably possible, but it requires a new drawing and a complete recalculation of the aircraft for reasons of balance : Engineer's work ! Look at the BD 5 jet . And depends the air regulation laws of the country you are living , to know if is it or no possible for you .But a project which requires tons of hours working
@@jean-pauldelomez5591 Na, I think it could be done quickly. The design is already there. It just needs to be modified to get the W&B within a safe margin. Just move the engines pylons behind the wing and move the pilot seat/cockpit forward to where the pilot's butt is at the leading edge or just barely in front of it. It's possible that it may need to lengthen the fuselage slightly to ease any W&B issues.

Are they aerobatic?
I have to agree about the music, BTW.

Could this plane use larger jets and handle more speed? Power?
What are your VNE speed and cruise speed VX &VY speeds. This is really neat

There's a RUclips video for just that.
