its so refreshing how you dont force her to see, and just hold her and pat her back. what a great mom, truly

It seems to me (an outsider) that so much of Japanese culture revolves around thankfulness or gratitude... along with humility and courtesy....makes me want to be a better person....those antique Kimonos are beautiful
You got it, buddy. You can really see this difference in how both cultures view things like employees, bosses, landlord and tenants.
There's a messy reason for that and really something that should not be mentioned.
yes sincerity in all aspects of life is most important. if you are sincere when speaking with others, sincere to nature, sincere to yourself.... you feel so much better ^^
@@johnree6106 Don't know what you're referring to, but lots of history, both personally and culturally is messy....so
I agree with you. The thankfulness and gratitude is overwhelming in each of these videos.
I didn't know why my mom made me put on kimono when I was at Sutan's age (and a bit older too) because you need to wear many layers and it is kind of heavy but it turned out everyone would say "cute!!" "kawaii~!" on the day so hope Sutan will like the kimono on her shichigosan day!😊❤️
As a kid growing up in Andalucía ( south of Spain ),I was made to wear a traditional "flamenco" dress: heavy thick fabric in the middle of August heat plus all the accessories. You hear how gorgeous and cute you look with the mantón, the fan or the little cutesy heeled shoes. As an adult, I can't wait the months to the next festival to wear it!
hi sutan and moe cute u sutan
Do you have any celebrations to celebrate your child's growth like Shichi-Go-San? Please let me know how it is in your culture?☺️I love reading everyone's comments, and I always learn about other cultures❣️

I wish we did in the U.S. for my ethnic group but really only birthdays. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful celebration as I’d not heard or read of it before.
Hi, Moe-san! I'm from Malaysia! Malaysia have a lot of different races and one of them is Chinese, which I am. And we have a celebration for babies when they reach 100th days. It is to wish the baby to have a long life until 100 years old. WE usually give out cakes and Chinese traditional dessert, alongside with boiled egg that is painted in red color! Its for the blessing and festive look.
I am too looking forward for Sutan's Shichi-Go-San! Hope Sutan eventually can feel excited for it too!
well me and most of my family live in the US, but my mother whos from the philippines spent a LOT of money on me and my siblings first birthdays!! im turning 19 now and my extended family + the family friends who were invited still talk about how large of a party it was!
im not sure if its a tradition or not, but since me and my siblings all had troubles being born and we're lucky to have survived at all my mom definitely thought it was worth the celebration!
In Latin America we celebrate the 15 years as a transition from girl to woman and girls usually do their eyebrows for the first time and wear dresses like European colonial time. I said Latin America but I don't know if all the continent but at least in Cuba and Mexico it's a tradition
Yes I have 2 kids 1 son 8 year old & daughter 2 year old I miss my baby every day but I work in qatar my family is in Nepal 🇳🇵
13:42 Sutan's effort on staying healthy and well nourished in honor of her ancestors.
😂😂😂
No doubt . Good nutrients from mom n good care too.sutan looks very healthy.
I love how sutan doesn't wanna look at it but she looks beautiful like her mother
# mother like daughter#
When they stepped into the kimono store, Moe said Sutan was “hitomishiri”, shy with strangers. Haven’t heard that since my childhood.
What a beautiful word !
I lived in Japan from August 2017 to march 2019 and I saw many kids wearing kimonos for their shichi-go-san. I remember thinking that I would love to have a kid in Japan and see him or her in kimono. I myself, being a Brazilian, but with Japanese roots, the first time I wore a kimono was on my first birthday. I used to wear it on New Year celebrations, birthdays, or for modeling, but now, as a 35 years old woman, living in Brazil, I don't have any occasion to wear it. I still have one, so does my husband. That's why I like your videos. Maybe we have to create a special occasion to wear it.
Maybe both of you can wear the kimonos on your wedding anniversary? I saw few couple put on their wedding dress and suits on their wedding anniversary.. as time goes by, along came the children, you can add them like pageboys n flower girls
Sutan looks like Moe when she was a child. But, I think Sutan's eyes look bigger 😜
Moto has bigger eyes. I think that’s why.
She has Moe's body and face shape, but Moto's eyes.
@@esthercheng7462 Moto's nose too, I think 🙂

I am of Japanese descent, but I live in a Latin American country, in my 14 years I never used a kimono since in my country there is a lot of discrimination towards Japanese culture. Besides being very expensive, I am glad that Sutan has a great opportunity to fulfill a tradition.
Greetings from Paraguay :)
Omg I’m also a Japanese descendent from Brazil! I’ve used kimono a few times tho. This might be weird but my mom’s surname is also Honda! Are we cousins lmao jk
@@emoykam8394 you might be🤔😮
I'm at least asian therefore I'm proud to be Japanese nothing can change my mind😆❤️
hope all of your japanese descendent can keep your japanese culture. you should be pround be japanese since japan worth all the world's respect and study.

the way moe complained about carrying sutan one hand for 4 hours is really cute but then sutan change the topic to bread is a total comedy😂😂
I had no idea Sutan can be a little shy sometimes.....how adorable. She’s a lovely child, being raised by intelligent and loving parents. Bravo!
She looks JUST like you in those old photos!! 💞
I’m a 27 year old Japanese🇯🇵 woman living in Germany🇩🇪 , and I also wore the kimono given by my mom when I was three years old. I didn’t know anything about the event, but now I can see how much my family wished me become healthy and wealthy. This is a really traditional and significant event for Japanese. I will definitely give my child this chance in Japan in the future.
Moe: You can take the doll with us, but do not drop here. Sutan hugs the doll. So cute.
Schichi is 7 in Japanese , go is five and san is 3. I remember going to a shrine and getting a special candy sticks. I wore a dress and a cap on my head. My mom had left when I was getting my hair cut. The barber thought I was a boy and gave me a crew cut. I had to wear a cap until my hair grew back. Fun memories. 😂
So blessed to be a Japanese girl. Japan managed to retain the traditional in the modern world.
I really like the idea of having antique kimono's that can be rented for the day. I imagine some parents find it expensive to buy new kimonos for their children that they won't use that often because they grow so quickly.
I can't get enough of this cute beautiful baby girl Sutan she is so cute she really had the attitude and the personality that catch the eyes
Sutan is so smart that she looks around and sees if everything it’s safe then she approves
And gives smile smart kid
What a beautiful tradition! Thankful for the growth and the health of your child 👶🏻 💕
She reminds me of my child and it’s been 42 yrs,but some things don’t change,,so cute
sutan is growing so fast 😭 I remember when I first saw paulos video and it feels like I've watched sutan grow with moe- whos giving me lessons on babies even though I don't have children oml my heart 💕
I just want everyone watching this video to know that not many children in Japan have this kind of luxurious opportunity like Sutan has because it's very very expensive. Sutan is very fortunate and I'm happy for her, but I just don't want the viewers of this video to think that this is a normal life of a Japanese kid. This is a life of a very very wealthy kid in Japan :)
If you're poor or just have enough, do you still celebrate sichi-go-san for your kids? Like maybe with more modest way? Or you just don't celebrate if you don't have money?
Her mom was a Maiko so a kimono is very important to her, rich or not if something is important to someone they will manage.
Shichi Go San in general does not need to be very expensive at all, and it's celebrated by most families of all economic classes.
It is true that the high-quality service offered by Moe's friend and the traditionally-made kimono would raise the price; a middle-class family would usually rent from a place with modern mass-made kimono, and probably only for the few hours it takes to do a photoshoot and a shrine visit. But even for families with less money, many parents consider it worth it to save up extra money to make their child's Shichi Go San special, so experiences like Sutan's here aren't that unusual.

七五三は日本の伝統行事で、ほとんどの人が七五三の経験があります。
もちろん七五三に使うお金はそれぞれの家庭によって差はありますが、七五三自体は何も珍しいことではなく、とても一般的です。
That is a wonderful tradition. I hope Sutan will be very excited and compliant on the day when it comes! When she gets older she will be able to look back and appreciate the moment!

Your english is getting really good! So happy for you Kimono Mom!!!
I discovered your channel 3 days ago and I watched almost all of the videos 😂😭 I love your little family, you guys are so cute, it really put me in a good mood ❤️
Sutan is sooooo cute, you’re extremely pretty and funny and your husband is really handsome and looks super kind 🙌🏽
Anyway, thanks for your videos even though you’re busy with Sutan and thanks you for the subtitles ❤️❤️❤️
I’m so excited for you and your family, what a wonderful celebration to look forward to! I would recommend that you wear kimono around the house in front of Sutan. You are her biggest role model and love so if she sees you enjoying kimono she will be sure to follow!💖
First kimono, im so happy for Sutan. She has gotten so big.
Also 2:21 Moe-san 👏 thank you and your friend for sharing those historical facts with us.
I’m reliving the hard work of carting my babies in my arms until they ached so bad. But then you think of those special coming-of-age celebrations and I cry because they are such special memories. I see all of your love in the way you look at Sutan and I feel the love I have for my kids all over again.
Those colors are perfect! Sutan is going to look so sweet in Kimono!
Honestly I will hit like on video that preserves Japanese culture. I also noticed it in the little lesson of placing responsibility happily and easily for the care of a favorite toy. My two children will be 13 and 17 this year. I was proud of my mother skills but I learned a new technique today. I'll give it to my grandchildren one day thanks to you. Very special. Thank you. Great content that's meaningful.
I remember being young and sticking my head out the window, feeling the wind across my face and watching the sites zoom by. So happy Sutan gets to experience that IMO it is a priceless moment and feeling.
Growing up outside of Japan where Ghibli movies aren’t that well-known (in my country, at least), I find it wonderful that so many children in Japan these days still watch and love them! It makes me so happy to hear them mentioned at all. And that kimono is really cute, I’m sure it will look just as cute on Sutan as well. I’m looking forward to Sutan’s shichi-go-san! Best regards to you and your family, Moe ☺️
*I remember baby's event of 3 year's old in Japan. Congratulations~~~Sutan😊 hope you grow in happiness. Greetings from Seoul* ♡♡♡
My mum told me that I cried the entire time and even refused to have the 3 year old's hair accessories. I demanded the older girls ones so the only picture of me in my kimono on that day is with the wrong hair piece, pulling an "akkannbe~" face at a bottle shop that my uncle worked at 😂 sorry mum!! I'm sure the day was difficult but it's one of my grandma's favourite photos of all time - good luck Sutan!
Haha I bet the poor older girl was very sad that her outfit didn’t match as well. But I’m sure it made that day more memorable.
Would you have resented your mom if she had forced you to wear the kid accessories?
@@shukhada6664 LOL no way, I don't remember any of the events myself - I just know this from the stories I've been told by family
@@rooriddler yeah....I might have forced my kids or just bribed them to do that because this day isn't for the kid. It's for the parents watching their kid grow.
But what 🙏🏻 Moe is doing is an entirely new concept for me so it's kind hard to digest but I believe it might be what it is
I really love how Japan has all those celebrations that are very meaningful and they still practice till now. Would like to celebrate once if I have the chance 🤩
もえさんの子どもの頃とすーたんが同じ!!そっくりですね😊
うちも5歳の七五三です!男の子なので今度着物を見に行きます!
She grows up very healthy, i love watching sutan eat 🙈 it makes me happy 🥰
Awe this is so precious. I love that you are sharing traditions with her that she will cherish and remember.
Poor girl got so trapped in the pandemic lockdown that she is so not used to people except her parents. Hope when things get better she will be able to meet more friends and be happy around people.
Relax! Sutan is a confident, fearless and uber-bright child.
it's not about pandemic. my Niece 3 years old and froze down everytime she sees me xd
All these people saying it's because of the pandemic. I was extremely shy as a toddler and kid in the 90s. Some people are like that and it's perfectly ok. People talk about being shy like it's a bad thing or think it's "rude". I think being shy definitely helped keep me safe. I was never gonna just go up and talk to strangers, for example.
It's completely normal and expected phase for children her age to be shy around strangers. Sometimes even being shy around people who are family and friends. Has nothing to do with the pandemic.
I was shy around people when I was 3 as well.
Sutan is so precious. You are such a wonderful Mommy.
thank you so much for the videos, they liven up my days❤❤
The kimonos and accessories were absolutely beautiful. Enjoy anticipating dressing Sutan and doing her hair!

That was such an interesting shopping trip. And interesting info about this kids ceremony. The kimono shopping was really cool. Thanks for such a wonderful interesting video.
I'm so stupidly proud when I remembered what shichi go san is after I learned about it in class when covid was still soft
I love how real this video is! Sometimes things don't go as planned especially with a 2 year old, but the video was still fun to watch! Sometimes vloggers on youtube seem too wrapped up in making things perfect. This was refreshing :)

Love the yellow and red kimono combination you picked! I think it suits Sutan really well. I can't wait to see her in it 😍 I also want to praise you for your patience with her and carrying her for 4 hrs! Amazing 👏🙀
Hi! I'm new for this channel but I fell in love with little princess Sutan already! She is so cute.
Watching this video made me smile but also I felt really sad.
I am from Spain and visited Japan in 2019 (I really want to move and live in Japan after those holidays) and adquired a yukata, forgetting about buying a kimono. Nowadays I have no stores to buy them (neither online) and I'm still mad at myself for not buying some; I love traditional clothes and its culture (talking about Japanese culture). Maybe that passion about kimono is what made me following you but after seeing how small was Sutan and how she grew up also made me happy.
I can't wait to see her in a Kimono with you; her mother.
I hope I will be able to move as soon as possible too, thank you for letting us to know more about kimono's culture ❤️
Like many people here, I am waiting to see Sutan with her Kimono and hair done. I hope that day she feels and see your excitement and celebrates with you.
It is wonderful when we can celebrate traditions and heritage with our kids. It's wonderful to see our lineages and stories continue - even through their terrible two years! 😄
You're patient, persistent, constant and lovely as always Moe 🥰 and you have a very strong arm! 😄 We all look forward to see and celebrate Sutan's Shichi-Go San in November 😊
She's such a good eater, polished of that big piece of bread and then went for moms, haha. And of course she's turned suddenly shy at the moment you want to dress her up. I remember hiding under my mom's long skirt. She does seem to like dressing up and bags so there's a good chance she will love it some days.
If I am honest this is why I love seeing videos of people from other countries and other cultures because you get to see their traditions and learn the meaning behind those traditions.
Sutan is gonna look great for her Shichi-Go-San! I can't believe she slept throughout most of the choosing of the clothes and accessories. Funny how I was actually looking at kimonos and yukatas online yesterday alongside some kanzashi I would like to wear in my hair. I love fashion and if the Obon festival that's well known in my local area isn't cancelled again this year, I would wear a yukata.
It's just so heartwarming watching sutan have such an appetite.
Well in India most of the celebrations are in 1st year. I'm from Puniab, India and here we have a function called 'Lohri' Lohri is celebrated to mark the beginning of harvest season (my state is an agricultural one) and child's 1st Lohri is of great importance usually a function is held and guests are invited to celebrate child's 1st lohri. Some even chose to celebrate 1st Diwali, Holi or other major festivals by organising gatherings.
Ive seen this twice before and the kids looked so cute!! And parents were really happy for us to take photos. I can see it's a miracle if they are happy and willing!!
私も3歳の七五三は日本髪を結ってもらいました。今思うと新日本髪だったと思いますが嬉しかったのを覚えています。すーたんも楽しい七五三になるといいですね♡
Moe you are a beautiful, loving, wonderful mother. I know it is hard, but if you keep carrying her every time she wants, she will think she is in charge. There is nothing wrong with making her walk sometimes. You are just so lovely and from one Mommie to another, your love for her shows . God Bless You.
