My dad saw Henri Richard at his tavern in Montreal. He couldn't stop staring, and the Pocket Rocket gave him a wink. What a legend.

Henri broke my heart in 1971, scoring the Cup winning goal in game 7 against my (then, at age 10) beloved Blackhawks. RIP 🙏

Don't feel too bad. Henri and the Habs also broke the hearts of the Bruins along the way.

These videos are great for fans like myself who only started watching hockey recently (2006 in my case) and never got to see these players play. It’s nice to be educated on hockey before the 2000s. Keep em coming Shannon :)

Exactly. I'm kicking myself over the fact that I only began to follow NHL in my early twenties around 2014 and missed so much stuff that happened in the early 2000's and before. But Shannon's videos have brought me up to speed 👍.

A career video where the only thing I know about the player going in is his nickname.
11 Stanley Cups in 20 years..... not bad

Henri Richard won as many cups in his career as the entire Red Wings franchise has in their existence.
    That's wild.

Judson Skinner and the Red Wings have the most among American based teams

The other day Shannon did a video where he said he admired the "little guy" that could make it in the NHL, I think H.Richard was the prototype for small players who could "make it"!!!!!!! Safe to say his record of 11cups will stand forever. Great video as usual Shannon, thanks.

Thank you for this historical reminder. It was with great emotion that I watched your presentation. The blood flowing in my veins is red, white and blue and that brings back so many beautiful memories to a time when our brains couldn't even imagine that the Stanley Cup would not be on Ste-Catherine Street every year. Thank you so much!

One Montreal executive said that game in game out Henri was their MVP in those years. Always gave 100%, so tough and relentless. Always controlling the puck, and you couldn't get it away from him.

"Bit over 1000 points at 1200, maybe not hall of fame numbers" narrative forgets when he was elected. He was top 20 all time scorer when he retired, equal to to Thorton at this moment (plus some cups...)

20 seasons, 350 goals, 1000+points, most games every in a Montreal uniform, captain of the team, 11 yes ELEVEN Stanley Cups (means over 20 years he only lost 9 times) ... and yet he is known as the Younger Brother of Maurice Richard.

That cup winning goal in '66 is still highly controversial with old timers in Detroit. Richard slid into the net with the puck under his arm. Toe Blake was actually heard shouting "quick, everyone onto the ice before they can call it back."

11 Stanley Cup rings as a player! Whine Pesky; eat your heart out! LOL! This is one hockey record you're not even close to.
Maurice Richard said his younger brother was a better all-round player than he himself was. Henri also had a much shorter fuse than his famous older brother. Just ask Serge Savard!
This long-time Habs fan thanks you for this great tribute.

I often wonder "What if Montreal somehow got Mario in the '84 draft?" I think Montreal could have traded their 5th and 8th picks (Petr Svoboda & Shayne Corson) and 29th 2nd round pick (Stephane Richer) for the 1st pick.

He was my favorite player , playing as a kid back then using his number. What the author did not allude to here, is that a captain`s biggest attribute is to inspire his team to perform at their best. I seriously doubt any captain in NHL history was the equal to Henri in that department. My thinking is Jean Beliveau or Bobby Clarke was a distant second.
