    Sherlock is so adorable. Apple is so sweet too. She looks a lot like my dear Lily, when she was Apple's age. Lily is in heaven now. She lived a very healthy happy life and I spoilt her rotten. She passed on 1 week shy of her 15th birthday. She was a gorgeous tri colour too. I miss her so much. I have a 1 year old ruby now and a 14 year old blenniem. Both are the light of my life. Cavaliers are so precious. 🐕 ❤❤❤❤❤

    I so look forward to each daily puppy update and am learning lots about dear cavaliers. I especially loved the video where you dealt with myths concerning cavaliers and separation anxiety where your pups were watching tv while you were out. We rescued our sweet "Jack" (looks likes a cavalier with a bit longer nose and polar bear feet :)) from a wonderful shelter who saved him from a terrible situation. He was 1 of 51 rescued from a puppy mill/hoarder and had been kept in a bird cage with 3 other dogs for years. Others were kept under floor boards, cupboards and cages of all sorts in a dilapidated, filthy trailer with no heat or regular feeding. It also appeared he had been abused (vet feels that he had been hit in the face at some point along with who knows what else). Of course the issues we've faced and still deal with in the 5 years we've owned him are quite different because of his previous environment, but we love him just the same, and it has completely endeared cavaliers to us. Your videos have helped dispel a lot of concerns we have had about adopting a cavalier again at some point in the future. Thank you for the time and effort you put in to creating these wonderful videos for us. May I ask what brand of food you feed your grown cavaliers, please?

      I am currently feeding Nulo Medal Series turkey, oats, and guinea fowl recipe kibble. I splash a little hot water on it, and top it off with a few chunks of Fresh Pet chicken recipe. It comes in both adult and puppy formulations, so I use it for all life stages.

    I love Sherlock’s little fluffy friend and he just seems to adapt to everything new … bottle feeding, eating solids (well almost solids !) and now a new bed . I wonder if any of your other Cavaliers have been near Sherlock and if so would they cuddle and clean her like her mom Apple does. Oh maybe they can’t be near him because of immunity. Also if there was dad there would he take care of Sherlock as Apple does with cleaning and cuddling.🤔🤔🤔
    Thank you for sharing my very favorite Puppy family with all of us . I do realize the others aren’t puppies but to me they are always beautiful puppies .♥️

      Grandma Bootsie and Great Grandma Boo have both been very curious, and get as close to Sherlock as they can. Puppies are generally safe from exposure to the dogs in the household, but we keep them away from any others.
      Sires never really see their offspring, so there is no connection there.

    Charlie, id be interest to know more about the swimming puppy syndrome, it seems like you fixed Sherlocks legs very quickly with the corrugated foam. Have any other of your dogs had it worse? I love his toy, very cute!r

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  Месяц назад +2

      We've had much more severely affected swimmers in the past. Right now, our only concern is his right front leg, and we're taking him to a Physical Therapist this week to work on that.

      We are taking him to a Physical Therapist this week for an evaluation and development of a home exercise program - he is still not getting his right front leg underneath to give him proper support when walking.

    Does the puppy still spend time on the egg crate pad during the day ? thanks , just curious

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  Месяц назад

      As long as he manages well with the wooly, we'll stick with that. But we may use the egg crate for therapy exercises now and then.

  • @janhankins911
    @janhankins911 Месяц назад +1

    Walking in the grating is okay for their little paws? Is that uncomfortable for them? Just thinking that if it is, he might not want to go do his business over there. Do you have something under the wooly so it doesn't "sink down" between the grating? You're getting tired of me asking questions!!

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  Месяц назад +2

      Never tired of answering good questions!
      Part of the socialization process is exposing the puppy to lots of different surfaces to walk on, as early as possible. The metal grating is smooth and spaced closely enough that the only problem he will have is getting traction. But it's also (believe it or not) the very first step in housebreaking; at around 4 weeks, a puppy will instinctively want to pee and poop away from the area where he sleeps. Once he masters the art of walking on the grating, he will go there to do his business, and it will fall to the bottom. Maybe I can talk about this in today's video - thanks for the idea!

      Could you explain more about why you changed the bed to this new one? I learned so much from all your great videos!

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  Месяц назад +1

      We always transfer puppies from the whelping box to the playpen at about 3 1/2 to 4 weeks of age, because they are getting big and strong enough to climb out of the box. The playpen is a safe, secure enclosure.
      Using the wooly as bedding is more comforting and warm than the eggcrate foam, but still gives him more traction than the other pads we usually use, so that he can learn to walk properly. We can still use the eggcrate on occasion to give him some exercise.
