I visited Rockford with my wife and dog back in July, I heard so many great things about it, and it's being considered as one of the candidate cities/towns for me to move to, the others are nearby Comstock Park and Walker. As you may or may not know I've been a frequent visitor of the Grand Rapids area, because of my job, and I stayed at hotels in Kentwood and Walker so far.
I fell in love with the Northern suburbs of GR and Walker, because it has everything I could want, however, Rockford has that small-town charm that really draws me closer to this town. As I was driving through the outskirts of Rockford and into downtown, it was definitely what I expected to find: beautiful houses with a backyard and pleasant scenery, plus the Rockford Brewing Company, (which I didn't go to, but wound up going to Third Nature Brewing instead.) and some good shops my wife liked, and most of the shops are dog-friendly. It is kind of a drive from Grand Rapids, I'd say 15-17 minutes tops, but it's not that bad. As I left, I have a lot of thinking to do about where I will live in the area, and if the town I want to live in is Rockford. We shall see.
