Your a legend my man, my rear breaks was scraping which was rly annoying and shameful as people could hear me comming b4 they saw me and ur vid easily fixed the problem. I cleaned my break pads and realigned the caliper and it worked like a charm.
Hey man, so i did my breaks yesterday but my rear break still feels crazy squishy compared to my front break, i did find alot of air bubbles in the rear and got the new oil in it. Did i miss something?
@@NiteMarcher You have to bleed the brakes if air bubbles are in the cables. Totally normal that you have to do from time to time.
I took it in after having the same issue after 2 brakes bleeds, discovered it was air bubbles in the line due to a micro leak where the line meets the caliper. Only noticed the issue after some deied fluid was found on the brake pads when it was taken in to a electric bike shop.
G’day Ginger, I just bought a brand new Mantis Pro and the front & rear brakes were making a scraping noise right out of the box. I followed the procedure as per your video and now my brake pads are perfectly aligned with the disc and no more scraping noise. Thank you for all your informative scooter videos, I really enjoy watching them. Cheers from Perth, Western Australia 🛴👍🛴👍
Just a friendly pointer guys. Our boy Ginger made a great video here with alot of excellent points. I would just like to point out that the "Cotter pin" that holds your pads in the caliper, should "Always" be replaced when replacing the pads. When bent, these pins integrity is diminished and should "never" be reused unless its a quick fix to get home.. This is a standard practice when replacing castle nuts on automotive applications and should also be followed on any vehicle that carries your ass over 50kmh. Best of luck!
Hm. I never knew that! Good tip.
That was very informative and simplified. Thank you.
Thank you so much for showing me this. I really needed to find a good tutorial for changing my brakepads thank you!
You made it look really easy. Thank you Sir
Very helpful short video! Thank you!
I just googled both of these things and the man himself pops up. Good stuff man
Very Good explanation video. A lot of people are asking about this and how to sort this problem out. Now I have a video to show and even for my self. Thanks a lot a keep up the good work. Cheers from Portugal and stay safe.
That's great to hear! I wasn't sure if this video would fall on deaf ears, I'm glad you liked it. Feel free to share away!
Thank you for your help. This video taught me much.
Wow - nice job! Love the intro music :)
Once again I come to RUclips for help and G.O.W. comes through.
Oi same thing I was about to ask you ginger about the brakes can’t believe its pretty straight up
Great video great content, keep up the great work.
Very helpful! Thanks man 😃
Need to grab my cocktail first! LOL Wait its only 10 am ... ok a coffee. Looking forward to learn about brake pads!
So magnificent, sir Ginger on Wheels
Next time, I expect your daily outfit - the tuxedo and a monocle 😆

*update* it worked. Thanks man. I've watched all your videos by the way. I like the racing ones though. Just the music can be turn down a bit.

Great video !
Boss man Ginger love your vids as always bud just a little more realistic insight when replacing Brake Pads. Once you remove the Brake Pin from the Brake Caliper and remove the Brake Pad and Brake Shims (Metal piece that holds the Brake Pads together). You need to adjust the Brake Caliper-To-Brake Pad Tightness (at least with the NUTT Hydraulic Brake System in Solar Scooters). First you loosen the Brake Caliper-To-Brake Pad Tightness Screws so that way the Padding on the Brake Pad can fit with space to give. Once the Brake Pad & Shims are reinstalled successfully then you can adjust/tighten the Brake Caliper-To-Brake Pad Tightness to ensure that the Brake Pad has enough play between the surface of the Brake Pad and the surface of the
Brake Disc so that when you squeeze on the Brake Lever the Brake Pad makes full contact with the Brake Disc.
thanks for this!
In this second i have the problem with my disk brakes on my wolf, in the back when it mooves sounds like hell, and when I accelerate The smell of burning something come up, so thx thx for helping me with your video, sorry bad english
Ya checking your disc brakes should help. Hopefully you find the problem. ✌️
Hey dude love your videos! Have you ever had a bad tire or off centered tire on the mantis or any other scooter that was causing shaking/vibrations? If so how did you fix it. You should do a video on this. I’m having this issue
That's dope, I'm gonna try it on mines. My mantis pro wheel scraps. I'll let you know how it goes once I do it. Thank you!
It worked by the way
Mr Ginger, any video on how to replace Kaabo semi hydraulic brake pads, which are different pads to the Kaabo pro pads?
I was going to ask you how to change the brake pads yesterday 😂😂 perfect timing with the video
Been getting that question a lot lately!
@@GingerOnWheels what's the link to buy pads?
Well that answers that question lol……thanks for the video!
Would you do a video of how to change the brake disk
Hi Ginger. Thanks for your video it really helped!
I have a question, can i buy Shimano brake pad for my GT Pro? If yes, which one should i get?
What do you think about the different types of brake pads available on the market specificity for mantis 10 pro?
Ceramic vs keto vs semi-metallic vs other options
Bro bro Ginger.. got my Zero 11x and follow your great videos. Can you do changing wheels and upgrading shocks? you're collection will be complete!
I would, but I don't have an 11x anymore 😥
Hey so you got yourself a zero 11x too? I have seen it in many of your videos now 😳👍👍🤙
Hey ginger on wheels, I just got one of the VORO Motors Kaabo Mantis 10 pro SE, I herd that you had changed out/ upgraded the hardware (nuts&bolts) on your mantis. I was wondering what you chose to you use or what I should seek out to purchase, do you happen to have a list by chance? and also if there is anything specifically I should not use lock tight on.
If the pads or the caliper it’s kinda tight what should I do ? I have try everything to loosen then up
Hello Ginge On Wheels. You are a Superstar. Next time I'll try this method save myself taking the whole caliper off!!! Like I did. I have a question. I have a brand new Zero 11X. I've not ridden it any distance however I'm really keen to know what you would do in my situation. Would you keep the 11X or would you sell it and go for any if the Kaboo range. A Dualtron X2 is way over budget so basically could you break down if you would keep the 11X or get a Kaboo instead. And if so why. Thanks Ginge
Keep the 11x, its a great scooter on the streets and the transaction cost of getting a new scooter is going to be high. No scooter in the kaabo lineup has substantially more range or speed than the 11x, not worth the effort to swap.
One of the pistons was already pushing out on the my rear brake. I pushed it in flush with screwdriver pressing against it.
You need to check each time the pads are off if the piston is flush or not, or you will get spongy brakes. Spongy brakes does not just mean air in the oil as I have noticed.
Brake scraping is also dirt, foreign objects in the mechanism too.
I came here to find this info as one of my pistons is sticking out. Will try to get it back to flush this way. Thanks!
Hey awesome video, how would I go about tightening the brakes if I have to squeeze more than usual on the brakes?
I did a video on how to top up your hydraulic brake fluid. I'd watch that one.
@@GingerOnWheels thanks I’ll check it out, appreciate the response
I would like to know if there is a way to tighten hydraulic brakes in the caliper after the brake pads slowly wear out over time but still have some material left.
So you don't have to press that braking lever too far.
Ginger thanks for your workshop. I'm working on my scooter instead of taking it to the shop...
Awesome. Glad to hear that. Good luck.
Hi, on my mantis pro there is almost no space between the pads and rotor, how can i make bigger space because i can't adjust brakes, one or other side still touching pads, rotors are straight
Hey buddy..... I just asked about the brakes but forgot to ask something else... after you put new pads on do you ever have to top off or bleed the system or does that have nothing to do with new pads just when the brake lever feels soft? Also do you not have to push the caliper piston in to fit new pads? I'm truly very grateful for all the time you take not only making these videos but also the time you give us answering all our questions thanks again I truly mean it
No need to push the caliper pistons in after to pull the pads. At least, I didn't have to. You only need to top off the fluid if the brake lever feels squishy. It's not required when you're just changing the pads out. Thanks again for watching dude ✌️
Have you got a video replacing the actual disks... it would be a massive help as most videos are not in English thanks 🙏
Simply remove the wheel and remove the 5 hex screws holding the disc to the motor.
Whats up bro.. u think u can Re upload the link to those brake pads?
hello. Someone broke the rear brake cable for my Vsett 10+. Do you know any hydraulic brake set I can use to change it?
Hello Ginger ! Lovely content man, greetings from Bulgaria ! Need your opinion, but first want to apologize for my English. Before a week ago i bought vsett 10+ and after unboxing i had brake rubbing problem on front disk. I tried your suggestion to fix it, but it doesn't worked for me sadly. However, on the next day i met customers and they solved my problem somehow, but for a while.. 3 kilometers after it starts again on both disks. Fixed again, now im on my 1st 100km and it repeats again.. it's really annoying, just want to know if it's usually normal to happen that often or i just got unlucky with this.. Thank you and big success and dope moments in 2022 to all ! Cheers
I have reduce braking power on ninebot max do I need to replace brake pads?
The old ones slip out easy, but not the same story trying to put the new ones in
How offten how many
Miles should you change your brake pad?
Thanks.

hi sir can you pls. send a link for the brake pads or can you pls tell me the size of brake pads coz i need to change it soon.... thanks in advance
Is there a link for purchasing the front brake system? Zoom brand caliper, hydraulic cable, brake lever and power cutoff wire? I found some on aliexpress but they are for mountian bikes and those hydraulic cables are too short.
I haven't found one, yet. I bet there is one on Alibaba or Ebay somewhere though....
Hi, I have a Zero 10x and want to change brake pads (mechanical, not hydraulic). Are bicycle brake pads compatible with Zero 10X brakes? In my city there is no store with Zero 10x parts so I have to find some solution as nice weather is approaching. I will be very happy if you can help me with advice about this matter.
Hi Ginger, such a good video - thank you. I used your technique on my worn-in pads and enjoyed many silent miles. Those pads eventually wore out, and I've just replaced them with brand new ones. The new pads JUST fit, even though they're genuine Kaabo parts. They scrape full circle, even after using your technique - they're just that snug. Is that normal for new pads? Will they soon wear down to no scrape? Or is this there something I could do to widen the gap? Oh, and I'm not sure if the previous owner replaced the rotors, though I doubt it. Thanks again for the videos! Fidel
Yes it's possible to adjust it by hand before retightening. Requires two people though. The easier option is to wait until they get worn in a bit and stop scraping on their own.
Thanks @@GingerOnWheels! The first couple of miles the rotors felt super hot. But after a few more miles they were normal temperature and there was only a mild scraping.
Are there any good temporary fixes for leaky valve stems? Until I get a replacement one?
Not that I know of 😦
GINGER......what's up buddy? I'm assuming the link in the description is the brake pads you used? How did they fit and hold up on the wolf warrior? I just ordered a pair because I checked my pads for the 1st time and they didnt wear even at all one of the upper corners are to the metal clip they sit in. I'm 250 LBS and ride hard but I thought they would last longer then 200 miles. BUT...... if these fit well for 10 dollars I'll buy 10 pairs and just have them on hand!!!! THANKS AGAIN FOR ANOTHER GREAT AND INFORMATIVE VIDEO!!!!!!!
Ya the brake pads don't wear evenly on the disc rotors, it's annoying. Try removing the spacer between the brake caliper and mount, that's what I ended up doing. Pads make better contact that way.
Will that work for cable driven brake systems as well? To keep them from rubbing
Yup! My Nanrobot D4+ had cable brakes and I used to do the same things.
Will this work on a Inokim Light 2? I am getting that same scraping brake sound.
That scooter has cable actuated brakes. The process is slightly different as I believe the mounts are different.
Question for you regarding the brake lever. The brake line came out of the brake lever but will not stay in. There appears to be a metal ring inside. Is that what keeps the brake line in place? I suspect when you tighten the screw, that in turn squeezes the metal clamp securing the brake line? Great video by the way!!! I just changed my pads.
I'm sorry. I would need to see a few pictures or videos to give you accurate information.
No worries. As suspected, the screw did end up tightening the metal clamp. Wolf Warrior up and running again. Appreciate the response.
What happens if you don't adjust it will it mess the scooter up?
Hi ginger on wheels I noticed on my new kaabo mantis the front brake rotor is little bit bent enough to make a small grinding sound do you have any video o suggestions for this repair Thanks!
are you sure the rotor is bent so much that the adjustment in this video doesn't work? That's pretty rare. They make specalized tools you can buy for bending rotors for bikes. or you can just tap it with a hammer... be careful though, and you definitely want to do the instruction in this video to keep the rotor from scraping on the pads when you're done aligning the rotor again.
@@GingerOnWheelsI did the adjustment of the brake calipers and that helped a lot right now I dosen't make the noise anymore but if put the wheels in the air and accelerate you will notice the front disc will not spin straight kind like goes in a out
Just got my zero11x... is it normal for the steering to be a tighter than the kaabo mantis? Or is it because i have a off road tire?
Yes it's very tight. To prevent high speed wobbles.
Based on your style of riding. How often do you think brake pads should be changed on a D6 nanrobot? I know everyone will have a different range of brake life but based on your riding?
With regen braking turned completely off, around 4 -600 miles. But I know people who go through them much faster. Like you said, depends on your riding style.
The thing about these types of scooters is that you can't find brake pads for the dual motor scooter you buy on ebay. Only some name brand scooters the brake pads are available for. So if you buy a non branded dual motor scooter on ebay or other sites have fun trying to find replacement brake pads for them because they're not all the same fitment when it comes to brake pads
Hi mate just wanna ask for your opinion on the two scooters the wolf warrior and the zero 11X which do you prefer? and have you had any issues with the wolf warrior apart from the front shock absorber and the broken screw? And have you had any issues with the zero 11X? I’m thinking of getting one of them but not sure which one
Zero issues with the Wolf asside from 1 broken screw and suspension loosing its springiness after a few thousand miles. I DID replace all the screws on the wolf with stainless hardware though so who knows what would've happened if I hadn't. The Zero 11x suspension coils can get compressed permanently if you hit large bumps too fast or land with too much weight on it, very unlikely though. Also with the Zero 11x, the model I had has 2 fuses between the battery and controllers and if you go full throttle for too long those fuse boxes can actually melt. I believe that Revrides and eWheels have fixed this by splicing out the fuses entirely, but if you plan on going full throttle for miles at a time then you may want to ask.
Thanks much appreciated for your opinion cheers
Hey I was able to fix the annoying back rubbing noise but my brakes still slam all the way down and don’t do a single thing while I’m on the scooter... Is their a way to make those tighten up more instead of going all the way down... the brake lever how yours doesn’t touch the bars mine does
You need to watch my video on topping up brake fluid.
@@GingerOnWheels thank you I’ll go look for that! Makes more scens that it takes brake fluid, great videos!
can u put any break calipers on the back like magura ?
No, you need to use different mounting brackets because the holes are in different spots. Not all scooters have adapters.
I just noticed that your right brake lever was your rear brake! Did you swap them? My wolf warrior is the opposite. Lol
Nope! Mine came like that. Pretty easy to switch over though, should you feel so inclined.
How do you open up the space between the new brake pads? My new brake pads are right on the disc once installed. No space
Javi's Boom Tech make sure your adjustment screw is set loose and not tight, then adjust once in place for the brake itself, not the mounting
Thanks @@JamiePineappleWyatt, where is the adjustment screw? Can I trouble you to upload a photo to imgur?
@@fiddyschmitt the adjustment screw is directly behind the brake pad, it pushes it in and out, you cant miss it.

Only if you squeeze the brake lever while the pads are removed.
The pads aren't in stock. Is there a bicycle pad that fits? I noticed a lot of them look awful similar
Sorry just question please what is the difference between kaabo 26 ah and 35 ah
About 10 miles of range.
Hey, I think I saw on reddit that you replaced your rotors with Hope floating rotors. However, I've only been able to find 140mm, 160mm, etc.... Do you have a link to the 145mm rotors that you bought? Or did you just settle for the 140s?
I bought hope 145mm hope rotors on their website. Maybe try ebay?
@erik Williams. I bought 145 on amazon for my mantis 8
Does this apply to the Inokim ox as well?
As far as I know they have hydraulic brakes so, yes.
My scooter makes an electrical buzzing sound when I break - it is a brand new Yume x13. Any idea what that could be and how to fix it?
Totally normal noise. Sounds like crickets or maybe a fishing line getting pulled out? It's the slotted rotors.
@@GingerOnWheels Thank you! Super helpful. My new Yume has that issue where the voltage drops. I was able to ride it 9miles before that happened. I was able to turn it on and use it for 5m max, but now once I turn it on, the throttle works for 5s most and then that throttle screen dies out - the lights remain on though, weird. They said they’d send a new battery :( I’ve waited so long and nothing yet. Do you know what the voltage cutoff is for a 72V? Like if I’m riding, when should I stop? I want to preserve my battery.
My rotor is warped, I have adjusted it using that fork but it comes back as soon as i press the brake lever
Check to see if your caliper is loose from the frame.
What else can I do if this didn't work and my wheel still rubs against the pads slightly?
Try and do the tightening and loosening technique a couple of times. Sometimes it doesn't work on the first try, but if that still doesn't work then it sounds like you're going to need to find the area of your rotor that's bent and slightly tap it back with a rubber mallet.
Hey Ginger, so I just replaced my pads on my Zoom Hydraulics and now the rubbing is so bad that I am losing 5-8 MPH in acceleration and it is causing my battery to drain much faster as the motors are working harder to keep speed. I have tried loosening the screws and squeezing the brake and retightening but the pads are still rubbing and not allowing the wheels to move freely. I don't know what else to try and any help would be awesome. I use my scooter to commute to work and I don't want to risk burning up a motor because a cheap 10 dollar part is giving me issues.
You probably already figured this out by now but it’s not always as simple as he makes it seem in the video. Sometimes it’s not perfect after just squeezing the handle and tightening the bolts. Sometimes you have to do small adjustments one screw at a time or torque them in a back and forth pattern so that your twisting force on the first bolt changes the angle of your calliper.
Love all of your videos man. Very well detailed and explained!
I have a Vsett 10+. Any recommendation as far as brake pad material for the VSETT 10+?
I was thinking sintered pads or semi metallic material for higher speed braking. What would you run on a VSETT 10+?
Hey ginger where do you get the clips to hold the break pads one of mine I's broken
I think you might need to buy a new caliper to get the clip! Idk if you can just buy the clips. Maybe email your local retailer and ask if they have one laying around you can buy.
@@GingerOnWheels that's mate. I found out where to get them from. Incase you ever need some yourself, if you buy brake pads from directly from zoom the company that makes the hole brake set up on the wolf warrior. The clips come with the brake pads when U buy a net set of pads. And in my case it is cheaper to get the buy the pads from them. I'm in austrailer tho don't know if it would be the same for you but just letting you know. cheers mate have a good one
Good find @@kyalcarten5647. I'm in Australia too. Can you please let me know how you got them from Zoom directly? Thanks
I have a diffrenet kind of issue here. I've fixed a flat on my back wheel and when i've put back the wheel in place, this rubbing noise against the pads still occurs even after i've done aligning it. The calilper just won't find a spot in which the rotor won't rub against at least one of the pads. (The rotor is straight, the pads are worn in a straight manner and not much in 500km, and everything is clean). I've even tried with different washers on the caliper mount.
Sounds like your rotor is slightly bent. Try tapping it lightly with a rubber mallet in the areas where it's touching the brake pads while rotating.
@@GingerOnWheels Might sound weird but, i had trouble fitting back the whole wheel between the suspension arms. Even though i've put back all the washers accordingly. The brake pads just seem to be too close to the rotor to even make adjustments. The rotor is fine and i've managed to straighten it to a fine point.
