Amoaa, with my hectic schedule I don't usually have the time to watch long videos. The title caught my attention because our company also does sustainable development, so I was just going to watch a few minutes. However, I was so thoroughly impressed with the details of this building that I found myself unable to stop watching and I ended up watching the entire video. 😀 Kudos to Orthner and Orthner Associates and kudos to you for presenting such awesome content.
That’s awesome! Your company works in sust. Development in Ghana as well? Or somewhere else? I’d love to know the name (just for personal reasons of knowing what’s going on). It makes me SO excited to see Ghanaians picking up this industry!
Hello beautiful people! I know this video is long but there is so much great information in here that Akosua shared with us. We really struggled to cut this down from the original 2-hour tour. I have included detailed timestamps to make it easier to navigate through this video. Next week we will continue the conversation with Akosua and discuss price points, working with Orthner and Orthner and their affordable housing project. Can you guess how old this property is???
Girl, You are doing so amazing with these contents of yours. Your effort is worth every success ahead of you. I love your contents so much. Your choice of projects and properties you shoot are off the roof. More strength to your elbow
Having studied the built environment, This has to be one of THE best designed house in Ghana. The other property developers need to take note. All the spaces were considered. Just stunning! Can't fault the design at all. ❤❤❤
As someone who works in the “green” construction industry in the US I’m so excited to see these things really being taken seriously and put into action in Ghana! I am planning to build a passive home in Ghana and can’t wait! Although rip my budget
Hi Amoaa, just a quick suggestion. In my humble opinion, I think you should show more of the actual house (both interior and exterior) even as the interview is going on........Don't let the interview scenes take over a larger portion of the video because, in as much as people want to know the details of what went into the house, they also want to view the actual house with all the beauty it has to offer (that's even the main reason why people click on the video). Preferably, you can make most of the interview part a voice-over that plays while the actual house is shown in detail. That'll keep people from getting bored because take this video, for instance, the exterior of the building was only shown in its entirety getting to the later part of the video while the rest was dedicated almost solely to the interview. We only need to "hear" the interview, however, we do have to "see" the house at different angles. Just my humble opinion. Thanks.
I think that is what was done here. The interview and tour are fused so everything that was talked about was shown in detail. There were lots of points where the interview was a voice over for the house tour. I think that's why the timestamps are helpful if a particular part ’bores’ you, you can skip to what you want to see. The exterior was shown in the outdoor time stamp so if that is what you are looking for you can skip to it. The interview is helpful especially to people interested in details and we did ’see’ the house.
Good to see more and more sustainable architecture using all the opportunities and advantages we have with our tropical climes. You did a great job with the video too👌🏾 - earned yourself a sub. Greetings from Lagos.
I've always said, that my African brothers & sisters have the best taste & are so very classy!! Unbelievable really! I just love watching all these videos & seeing the many awesome properties & the incredible detail abound. IMPO, Africa is still way too underrated, so too, it's incredible builds & amazing & stunning architecture abound. God bless Africa 🙏
So impressive! I was happy to hear Samartex in Samreboi was involved because I have very fond memories of visiting there a number of years ago. I really believe they have the finest woodworking anywhere and that is coupled with great training programs. It's a beautiful build and a great tour. Oh, and YOUR production quality is really on point. Great camera work and post-editing. I'll keep watching! Thank you!
That rammed earth wall is so beautiful 😍 Kinda wished their was a continuation of that wall through to the security area.. Very beautiful building and furnishings.👏
I'm so impressed! 😀Unlike some of the Ghanaian residential development tour-videos we see where the emphasis is more on high-rise apartments, and other unsustainable trends, this actually me feel PROUD of this design for Ghana. This totally incorporates all the natural building tips for eco-friendly construction that my sister and I used to read about (in homeschool). From the rammed earth materials, to the building's angle to the Sun. The sheer amount of green is relief to the eyes. 36:29 is so excellent -- even the garage looks inviting. Way to go, Ghana! 🇬🇭🇬🇭 Blessings from a Jamaican family.

Nice build. Brings back memories. Question, why is the floor called Parquet flooring. Because as a builder for many years. That what we call parquet floor. The wood, oh man I love the craftsmanship. What wool is the, is it stained or all treated
Beautiful, appreciate the use of local, labour, materials and manufactured and less imported products and goods until we can manufacture our own. Africa is rising
This episode is very professionally done. Your knowledge of building is outstanding. Can you link me to the wood entry door fabricator for my project in Ghana.
Saw the building popping up it certainly was different they were not in a hurry detail an finish was key now I know the client was enlightened not just rich it's a master piece all the time and effort paid off the only constant is the structural engineer they are always scared thus Ghana ones do not want to push the boundary are comfortable in the box

Love the wood door and floors. The trees that I saw in the background was soooo nice to see. Grabs needs trees and parks in the city. Nature is lacking. The upstairs area is a great concept.
Welcoming, I love wood with concerns but sense learning as sister said that there are different types of wood/timber. Longevity care of the wood. Determines the life of it. Excellent tour and guide. Sister ladies
HI please this is an amazing place and they have to transfer the knowledge to Ghanaians so that the skills will remain in Ghana west Africa and Africa as a whole thanks
We are building a house in Accra. Are they talking about compressed earth blocks (CEB)? Our next step is to build a garden wall and a storage shed. Can we do that with CEBs? Where do I get these in Accra? Any recommendations? I noticed that concrete bricks are still common in Ghana even for simple constructions.
Fantastic video. Gave me so many ideas for finishing a house. How much does the wooden floor cost? And how does it compare with tiles for a living area?
Thank you, Marvin and that's great. Last time I checked, it was GHS80 to GHS115 per sqm for the wooden floor and tiles cost under GHS50 per sqm and go up depending on the type, size, colour, thickness etc. so it really depends on your preference
