Oh my goodness I have watched this video two times already! I have been researching electrolysis and fuel cell production for the last couple of months just for this purpose. Compressing the hydrogen into a tank will be the next hurdle. Where are you all located? Are you going to be selling them? I have some ideas about custom hydrogen tanks and their integrations into custom frames. I am your first subscriber and look forward to more video. I haven’t been able to find any solid pricing on the retail hydrogen fuel cells. Can you give me any idea what it would cost just for the cell and tank? Cools stuff!! Thanks y’all!
Hi Bryan, The fuel cell system is from Intelligent-energy.com based in the UK and yes the fuel cell systems are available for purchase to integrate into a UAV, this is a UAV demonstrator that has been loaned out and the video is a 'how too' guide for that purpose. Hydrogen refuelling is done via a high pressure hose to the tank and either decanted from a higher pressure source or can be delivered via a compressor, refuel time is a few minutes. What mods other than the fuel cell system have been made to the X4? Looks like X-II motor mounts but also the retractable gear looks different (anything else?) - is this an update from Tarot or have you done those yourself?
I am currently working on the 800 W module with a Pixhawk 4 and Arducopter 4.4.0 running. The display for the battery works but the display for the hydrogen tank shows only -1. I hope that I can still manage this. Does anyone have a tip?

@@a.krugliak once you know the lift efficency of the aircraft its easy enough to calculate what size fuel cell you need. Also if using liquid hydrogen the energy density increase close to an order of magnitude
This setup can fly for an hour. Fuel cell UAV efficency increases with size so this is smallest multi rotor that makes sense. This size of fuel cell is ideal for VTOL and fixed wing, its all about the Wh/kg of the total system mass (fuel cell plus cylinder mass). The more hydrogen that can be carried the better the energy density.

Why not just use a range extender that runs on gasoline? It wouldn't be much noisier than the drone already is and the range would be much better. Also you can buy gasoline anywhere.
Hi Jim, not sure if you have used a gasoline hybrid UAV but they are outrageously noisy >120dB to generate the power to weight required, far louder than the sound of the UAV and require substantial vibration dampening. Your point about the accessibility of gasoline is valid

They are also made of ceramic so are heavy and not energy dense also not very good at stop start (they crack) ideal for contious operation and are often used as CHP combined heat and power for homes etc but still generate CO2

This was all assembled in house, its a fairly standard other than the bits you've mensioned
