    This guy spitting facts, I used Michel Thomas method to study Russian and Japanese it changed my life, pre using his method I had around 1500~2500 words memorized through using several apps and books but I struggled so much forming sentences and expressing my mind in conversations, MT method changed my mind in language learning process, you literally will form sentences from the first hour(1st CD)!
    so to summarize it, I would definitely recommend starting with MT course as base which is about 16~20 hours in total and by then your comprehension and speaking will be above A2 or possibly B1 level, but the neat part is right after you can move on using flashcards like Anki or Memrise or a dictionary to input more words.

    It would've been nice for you to show off your skills. I've seen a TON of review videos about how good some language app/method is, but many never show off what they learned.

    Thank you. I also flunked French in secondary school. You've persuaded me to not give up, instead, change tactics!

    This is my take on Michel Thomas....... apart from Russian which is my strongest Foreign language, I started learning Spanish,Italian and French using the Michel Thomas method. In no way does it make you super fluent HOWEVER and it is a big HOWEVER, what it does is gets you speaking, removes fear and in my case gave me a profound sense of belief that with patience and in a relaxed way you can begin learning and using the language. Today my Spanish is somewhat fluent having lived in Spain for a while but if i hit a dead end (which can happen to anyone speaking a Foreign Language) i sometimes revert back to what i learnt on the Michel Thomas course... i suppose what this Genius of a Teacher has provided is a solid skeleton of a language that will see you well and on which you can build. I actually like his manner, his calm relaxed way of teaching. I would have loved to have spent lots more time with Michel Thomas speaking theses languages.

    TQ bro for the review . Credit is to MT but the rest of the other courses out there is just oversell! U have made me more confident and believe in the MT method. Many reviewers say negative comments on MT but I believe they are being sponsored to promote other brands

      After using Pimsleur at level 4 I basically gave up due to irrelevant scenarios and mostly China attractions which they included. It is hard to go on. However for MT I think the company doesn’t really go out all the way to sell their courses. Perhaps British marketing is that way unlike American

    How did you practice/train your listening comprehension?

      Thanks for your comment, I would listen to the same series/films and podcasts over and over again for weeks. I stumbled across this method on youtube, it's called Français Authentique and there Johan teaches you the 7 rules of Français Authentique where you repeat the same content over and over again and by god it works. All the best with your language learning!

    I agree and disagree. Michel does teach grammar which is what it’s known for but I agree Michel Thomas is the best gateway audio course available today. Thinking out grammar is critical to language construction. Instead of senseless rote memorisation by Pimsleur n other methods which you will forget. I suggest doing Michel Thomas first and then switch to Pimsleur as an additional resource for audio practice

      Then third, do Headstart to French from FSI (foreign service institute), it's Free online at the right sites (yojik!). It's Belgian based but outside of the numbers 70,80,90 it's pretty much THE SAME language. The third one got me speaking much faster. Don't focus on the military rank titles, trade those out for Mr and Mrs.

      How long did it take you to do this course how many times did it take to do each cd , would you listen to each cd once or listen to the same cd many times before moving on to the next cd ,so how many hours in total

    • @hdlingo
      @hdlingo  3 месяца назад

      @liambyrne591 i would listen to the course in one go and then I'd review a cd each day. The important thing is not to try to remember anything and you will see progress.

    " in the space of three to six months" That is weird since it is no more than 30 hours. Why did it take you so long?

      There is repetition there, it's how it works, well for me...
