Funny thing: DSP spends an hour on his "podcast" saying the exact same things over and over again each and every day. Yet, you, Steve, can make a video which LITERALLY takes a third of the day (sometimes more) to listen to and you always bring something new to the table. Impressive feats, my friend.
I feel your commentary on his "unwillingness to engage creatively" touches on something I've gotten a sense of for a while with this character. Let me explain through example... I recently watched his TIHYDP of Castlevania lords of shadow. The points where he has to "punch" the ground involve a move he either has innately or unlocks automatically. The thing is, his first instinct ISN'T to check the basic movelists, it's to purchase advanced moves or even just suffer the penalty of having the solution to the puzzle revealed to him. I feel I keep seeing that pattern. Like, not that he couldn't figure it out, but, he's rarely inclined to try; every solution has to be in very explicit instructions, and he practically refuses to just utilize what knowledge he has, already, or even to reason where he could reacquaint himself with what he should already know. And then there's the recent PC issue he had with a...capture card software driver or something? All I know is that he tried to brute for the issue, even as error and error popped up. Basically a laziness that extends to an unwillingness to think; even to think of ways to get away with being lazy!
53:00 is as real as real talk can get. His situation is EXACTLY the same as the substance abuse cases I've seen. He stresses himself out, makes him resort to Champions to relieve stress, it makes him spend money and get even more stressed out, rinse and repeat. In the end he'll end up degrading himself more and more for the same result, and he'll need more pulls to get the same gratification he's been getting before. 4:57:34 is exactly what he is doing with his transphobic clips that are getting age restricted. he's calling it bullshit but beats around the bush over what exactly happened and what exactly he did. Childish stuff.
You know what's become my own personal phrase that pisses me off when Phil gets wrong? "moving the Goalposts" he always cries this when he's been proven wrong or proven lying or been caught out. Because he thinks that being asked to explain yourself is asking more then you deserve in the first place.

Hey Steve, we really appreciate your work on these videos. And, maybe I'm off base here, but, if covering DSP's antics is really affecting you, it's time to focus on other projects. The Guy isn't worth it. Edit: Finally finished watching. Best of luck with the surgery, Steve. I'm sure we'll all be pulling for you! You can use your recovery to take a break from DSP, but, if you get the itch, maybe you can still call in to That Being Said. Audio-only might be manageable in your post-surgery condition. Glad to hear positive updates on your cat :) Also, big ups on the audio warning. I listen to your videos on a pretty high (comparatively speaking) audio level (about 25% output, you're voice is kinda quiet and I normally listen at 2% output for other content with this headset) and that clip would have blown my eardrums out of my head at that level. My recommendation would be to verbally communicate the volume warning as well, since if I had not been actually looking at the screen I would haven't caught the warning in time to save my eardums. Audio balancing is hard. I think it's one of the hardest parts of video editing.
"A third of a Steve" - From now on, I'm gonna start measuring all videos based on this metric. RUclips had best get ready to start seeing some weird-ass fractions!
2:13:19 This is how I know for sure he’s a gambling addict. He doesn’t know for sure how much $ he’ll make, but somehow knows he’ll spend it all by week’s end, and have none left over. Even if you DO have a surprise windfall of money and then a surprise bill that wipes it out, your mentality would be “well that sucks but at least I’m ahead of where I expected to be thanks to the windfall.” and not “the high take ins from last week are completely irrelevant to now!”
2:07:00 I think the reason for his more and more "detatched" grasp on reality ( he cant get/understand what we see/experience by watching him) is simply by him living like he has done for so long. Bit by bit his already imature nature and personality find it more and more difficult to cope with life and its issues and gets derailed and warped. And you and me/others sense it and are witness to someone slowly losing it. Like he is a patient and we the Doctors logging the decline....

Level 1 Public Service Announcement Remember that boundaries are essential. You are not obligated to give the narcissist (DSP) any of your money. You are also not obligated to enable or even tolerate their abuse. In many cases, the no-contact approach tends to be the most effective way for sustainable healing. If you no longer want to play their games, you have to end the game- once and for all.
Steve always coming through with a good listen, I always feel for you having to analyze this gouty beggar. Big ups and hope to see you keep coming “down from the rafters”
I am getting the impression that Phil is an admirer of the great Scottish poet Ewan McTeagle, who wrote: "Can I have 50 pounds to mend the shed? I'm right on my uppers. I can pay you back when this postal order comes From Australia. Honestly. Hope the bladder trouble's getting better. Love, Ewan". And other great works, such as "My New Chequebook Hasn't Arrived", "What's Twenty Quid to the bloody Midland Bank?", and "Can You Lend Me a Thousand Quid".
2:57:49 He actually has a similar thing with failing to understand how light works. If you watch his old green screen setup vids in his garage, he is legit worried he might actually blind his viewers when turning on the light boxes because the lights are so bright. He has no clue the brightness the viewers see is no brighter than the screen they are watching on.
Here’s my take on Phil’s philosophy for viewer generated ideas. It’s a combination of a few things. First, the easiest and most obvious answer is he is just lazy. He doesn’t want to put forth the effort to even brainstorm ideas. Nothing more to it. Next, he feels entitled to anything and everything. He believes as the content creator he actually has to the work to make the idea turn into reality. So he doesn’t need to waste his time creating any ideas. Phil’s only here to do what his viewers want. Third is accountability. If something he tries on stream fails it’s not his fault. The idea failed bc it was poorly thought out and not the execution. For example, it’s like you ask Phil to cook you a meal for dinner. And he makes you 59 cent Ramen noodles with no salt and your disappointed. Phil would be mad at you and say I did exactly what you wanted. So Phil can always pass the blame on a failed idea to his viewers. Like you mentioned before. Phil doesn’t want to innovate and try something new. When Phil is asking for suggestions what he actually wants a viewer to say an idea he already has made his mind up on. A perfect suggestion would be for a viewer to say Phil we want you to stream SFT2. All while blaming lag and net code the whole time you use and we’ll reach your best goal. He wants someone to agree with him. I guess the end game of his streams are going to be internet pan handling. It’s just gonna log on and simply say I need help. Please donate. And he won’t play any games or do anything. Just ask for money while saying his sob story that Trolls ruined me. Hell hope he will find ignorant people to donate all while everyone knows the money is for WWE and Door Dash.
It's that he also expects the support to be immediate, rather than having to build a following around his recent developments. I'm also floored every time he denies the possibility of doing something because it won't be fun for him. As though your career is enjoyable 100% of the time. The idea of give and take/push and pull is lost on the man. Great content Steve, please keep it coming!
Cats are fluffy agents of chaos! Your girl absolutely knew where she was sitting her tail just to be as in the way as she can be in the cutest way possible! Sorry it's off topic-ish but I love cats and I also HATE how he treats his cat. No wonder Jasper is a detractor... that poor kitty.
You brought it up in the video, but I'm not sure it'd be possible to do any sort of comprehensive study of DSP (Reclusive in Renton is a good video, but it only examines one tiny facet of him). He's like a living Gish Gallop, in that it's just impossible to keep up with the new, insane qualities he presents almost on the daily. By the time you address one point, three more would have already appeared, or older ones would have some new, terrible twist on them. No writer could have ever created a villain this deep and delusional.
Love the content and look forward to the next videos! Don't feel pressured to keep making these if you need a break though. Especially if your surgery makes life more difficult for a while. DSP is many things if not exhausting.
1:50:10 That's why he married Kat after just 2 years of knowing her. He probably feels deep down if he had just married panda she would've stayed with him. Him marrying Kat was him kinda learning from his mistake
Steve i don;t think you understand just how much that clip segment of DSP saying gems triggered me, especially as a huge sonic fan. For real tho i really enjoy these videos thanks.
1:23:29 You talked "writing a book" later in the video. And that picture of DSP in the background, would be a great book cover. So yeah...you writing a case stydy of him woul guarantee sell many copies. 🙂👍
another reason i think phil doesn't decide on anything himself is partly to avoid taking any blame. He never wants himself to be the reason he plays a game. He always wants the escape route of "you guys said you wanted this" "you guys voted for this" or blame it on reviewers and the like for hyping a game up.
Phil's really desperate to not accept that he was a complete moron back then, let alone currently. If he was merely playing a character, then TIHYDP should never rustled his jimmies like it did, it should just have been a funny compilation of the best moments and if it went too far, like he presented it with his accusing TIHYDP makers of baring responsibility for his "swatting", he could have revealed it to stop it. And it also means that he spent years lying about being the realest person on YT.
I wish he could just take an L, with the original TIHYDP it would have been so easy and mature for him to just say yeah the video pointed out my terrible attitude but I'm trying hard to not play games that way any more and look how much I've grown etc. instead he overdoses on copium, it was all an act, well anything is permissible then isn't it. When the ultimate fallback is 'it was just an act, I was just playing a character'. And we saw this again recently when he tried to justify the vest streak as some anti-twitch movement when it was literally just greed
Big ups steve for the fantastic part 1. Guess we're just getting started on this boys ideas. For the rage-athon, i can see it now: DSP returns to the old hunters dlc, Will we finally beat ludwig😱😱😱
Steve, the events aren't just already paid by his viewers and also they have to pay on the day of those events... The whole event is Phil getting paid, that's also the "fun" part of the event, because it's the only moment when he is having fun and truly interacting with his fans. Good luck with your surgery.
Phil can’t do a yoga stream because people might criticize him or say he’s fat, he’s ugly, or he isn’t doing enough to improve himself… because those things definitely don’t happen now.
I have a little theory about his Multiversus streams and the whole 'oh, you've been begging me to play fighting games and now I am but there's no support' bit. Phil has gone on record saying that his Multiversus streams get relatively good views and engagement, so when the viewers say they wanna watch that content, they're making good on it. They're WATCHING it. And that's the problem. They're either normal Phil viewers who like the more actiony game, trolls that wanna see him cope and seethe over a fighting game, or they're new viewers who are there for Multiversus. Relatively average people that often contribute no more than a superchat or membership, if that. Most of the time, they just watch. To Phil, it's not about viewer numbers, he doesn't give a shit. Because all those people there watching Multiversus? They're not giving him money, so they can get bent. When he streams actual dumbshit like Bass Master and it gets supported by one of his whales for no reason a mortal can comprehend, Phil thinks it's actually good for his channel to stream that dumbshit. But, it's not, crutching whales isn't how Phil will improve the channel. You know those buzzwords he uses, 'natural growth'? Phil, you gotta realize: viewers who are naturally coming to the channel and watching you won't break out the wallets right away. You gotta woo them, wine and dine them. Get them in for a Multiversus stream, get them to come back for the next one, get them interested for the rest of your content, get them to be a fan. That takes time, but drawing in new viewers and taking the time to grow them into dolphins or maybe even whales is time Phil isn't pulling Hogans. So, because the whales are more supportive of streams that relatively average viewers do NOT want to see, and Phil wants the immediate gratification, he ironically falls into mobile game monetization schemes for his own streams. Set everything up to cater to whales and milk money out of them, and then do the bare minimum for the free to watch plebs just so the whales have a community to be a part of that encourages them to spend more money. The entire situation is honestly holding his streams in Stasis. As Piece often says, the 50 bit bitches are a dying breed and their absence makes Phil so much more dependent on whaling to hit tips goals.

The only thing worse than nails on a chalkboard is Phil on a chalkboard. Great video Steve! Always enjoy your insight.
Great video and I hope your surgey goes well.
Another quality production to make life interesting 😁👌
Phil's intelligence makes me legitimately think he needs to be reminded to breath.
1:50:10
That's why he married Kat after just 2 years of knowing her. He probably feels deep down if he had just married panda she would've stayed with him. Him marrying Kat was him kinda learning from his mistake
If Phil was a person who could be good at games if he wantted to, he could play whatever he wanted.
Great series! You put a lot of effort into this - Thank you! 🤗
Im glad your videos are doing well, Steve! 🙏🙏
I would love to see you do one of these while drinking.....lol.🤣😂. Alas, your health much more important! But still I can ponder the thought! ♥️
Watching this in 2x speed and it's about the same speed of talking as it is with me on normal speed.
Steve i don;t think you understand just how much that clip segment of DSP saying gems triggered me, especially as a huge sonic fan. For real tho i really enjoy these videos thanks.
Remember Phil's 25 push ups in about as many seconds? 😆
@12:04 - I want to make this my ringtone "A DOLLAR HERE OR THErE" XD
Intellectual Hype!
this message will self destrucy in 5 hours. thanks sod great work bro x
I like how the video is 5 hours long there's no way he'll ever watch this video all the way through
Would tipping & superchatting Phil not be a "crime", Steve? 👀
Edit: "This one time at band camp I wanted to try...pizza...YEAH pizza!"
23:04 I love that clip too. Look at the INTENSE fear in his eyes 🤣🤣
You are absolutly right if Phil would spend his OWN money i could not care less how much he spends on a mobile game.
Big ups steve for the fantastic part 1. Guess we're just getting started on this boys ideas. For the rage-athon, i can see it now: DSP returns to the old hunters dlc, Will we finally beat ludwig😱😱😱
The toilet seat decoration pretty much sets the scene for a DSP stream.
Steve, the events aren't just already paid by his viewers and also they have to pay on the day of those events... The whole event is Phil getting paid, that's also the "fun" part of the event, because it's the only moment when he is having fun and truly interacting with his fans.
Good luck with your surgery.
Question for you: Are narcissist unable or unwilling to feel empathy?
Implicit in his statement is that he does spend mobile games, just not "this weekend". He often seems to use semantics to lie and avoid arguments.
Awesome! Gonna watch on shift tonight
here faster than Phil begging again after a $200 tip!!
Phil can’t do a yoga stream because people might criticize him or say he’s fat, he’s ugly, or he isn’t doing enough to improve himself… because those things definitely don’t happen now.
You got to do something about your audio. It's too quiet. Even with headphones.
I think you're 100% right.
im new and i like ur videos
Fuck yea a 5 hour Steve video?!? My morning has been made.
19:09 Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, my lad, buddy, cross the pond brother, I got some graaaaaaave news for you~
Have you read Eric Hoffer's The True Believer?
Muckbangs are even worse than Phil :D overall great video. Phil + Muckbang = Piggy disaster. Steve, did you see what Phil said about the GDC hostess.
2:00:25 cracked me up so much. good camera cut
