I've been wanting a Hobonichi for some time now and was using a faux one in the mean time. When their website updated I jumped the gun and bought my first items from them! I didn't buy a planner itself, because I wasn't sure if I will stick with my ring binder system or MTN. Well, once I opened my package I was thrilled with what was in front of me. I purchased the 2015 weekly and the Chambray Cyan A6 cover. The cover is AMAZING!! Lots of pockets!!! I will be using this as my wallet and planner/journal. I may buy an the Cousin. I really do like this system, it speaks to me creatively and flow wise. Thank you for this video. Very inspiring and enabling!
Hey Vicky! I actually ordered a 2015 Hobonichi and went to my Japanese professor about that little insert with the pictures. Apparently the Japanese company that sells Hobonichi planners also sells things like jam, scarves, mittens, curry sauce, and all of the other things that are pictured on that paper!
I relate to your getting a package and waiting to open it, and savoring it. I'm the same way! I even leave my tags on new clothes and don't wear them immediately. Also I love your description of embracing the journey of journaling. So often you capture well in words what I'm feeling. Thank you for the time you spend in making videos for us. Always love it when I see you've made a new video.
SandiMo77 I'm so glad to hear that I am not the only one out there who likes to do that too! Thank you so much for your support and I hope that I continue to bring you joy in my videos! xo
I am so glad I stumbled upon this video. I just bought my first Hobonichi. My last planner was an EC Life planner and I was feeling overwhelmed with my new planner. I kept overthinking and I thought I may go back to EC. Thanks for opening my mind to all the hobonichis possibilities!
I was so inspired to get a Hobonichi because of this video, and I'm so glad I did. I've never kept a journal for this long, and I've never loved one as much as I do this wonderful little book.
Hi Vicky! I just ordered my first hobonichi and i'm so excited waiting for it to arrive. Love your insight on the hobonichi, thanks for sharing! Excited to document my everyday.
I'm right there with you when it comes to opening mail and packages! I have to open my letters and cards with a letter opener so I can save the envelope. I carefully open my boxes too. Glad to know I'm not the only one doing this :)
Well, this was timely. I received my order today. I was a little surprised at how thin the paper seems, compared to the Miguel. So it's reassuring to hear that fountain pens work. I also bought the little board that you put underneath your page, seems handy.
I ORDERED MY VERY FIRST HOBONICHI!!!! I got the small English planner, two covers, a floral clear over cover, and a pencil board. Total cost was £50 uh oh.nevermind I got a bit extra this month. I got the child's drawing cover, so cute and the blue nylon cover. So excited!!!!!
Thank you so much for showing us how to make our own personal faux hobonichi. I am a crafty person and I prefer to make my own. Your video is very encouraging.
thank you for all the info. loved, loved the fish net story. I've got my hubby and some of his Japanese contacts trying to get me in touch with one, and its on its way. I was so glad to hear that we are not alone, that there are a lot of us. smile
Hello, Vicky! My Hobonichi journey started by learning about this planner from your fauxbonichi video. I made a DIY Hobonichi and loved the system and now ordered the 2015 a6 size, it was hard to choose wich one to buy but when I found the avec version there were no doubts. If you don`t know about avec Hobonichi - it is a two volume version of the planner and in each book you have 6 months. I know that at the end of the year if I have the original one book it will be super chubby. To mention, the a6 planners do not have a weekly calendar (the cousin has it), I ordered the seperate 2015 weeklybook to put it in the cover and have there 6 months + all year weekly. Thank you for your videos and for sharing info about planners)
Sofi Zakharova Thank you for taking the journey with me and it sounds like you have an amzing system set up for 2015!! You will have to keep me posted on how it goes for you!!
Aaaaw all that thing about taking your time to opening new stuff and all ! I'm kinda the same so i totally understand, i'm not like this for everything, but when it's something i wanted for a long time, when i get it i like to take the time to open it alone, and i keep the packaging for a little while before putting it at the trash (well, looks like everyone is keeping the box from the hobonichi, ah ah)
Okay so this is my first time watching your videos and I literally just had to stop mid video to say I love you already. Your seriously cracking me up. I'm so weird about opening packages too and people always tell me how weird I am for it, so thank you for being a little weird too. I was 4 mins in and went straight to amazon and went a little crazy. Ended up ordering 9 or 10 different notebooks and journals. I can already tell I'm going to have a problem. Your nailed it when you said all these videos are enablers! Should I call ahead and reserve my bed at Rehab de Fauxhobonichi? I think so. Keep the Vids coming your channel is my new obsession! 😆😆😆
Hello Vicky! I have a FB closed group (Barefoot Journaling Chronicles). Started the group April 21 with a charter membership of 5 and as of today, August 5, we serve 178 members. I post all things journaling/scrapbooking/short story writing. We are a very creative group and enjoy many idea treasures. Thank you for your video. I'm sure my members will enjoy it as much as I did. Cheers! ~Evon Robinson
Evon Robinson Hi Evon!! Thank you so much for the invitation! I believe I joined the correct group. Please let me know if I didn't! I would love to be a part of your wonderful group!!
Hello Vickybee, I didn't see your name pop up on my new member list yet. Here's the link...if you click on it and request to join, I'll be pleased to welcome you in Vicky! :) facebook.com/groups/evonrobinsoncopy/
Ha ha talk about an enabler ,,I just ordered the cousin and a solid pink cover and a printed cover on cover... Plus tomorrow I get to pick up the smaller one at the PO, I'm so excited .
love love the video....I love my diyHobonichi that is the miquelrius and I have not ordered the original....I am loving the diy version. I have a budget and you really inspired me to do the diy....I do it daily. I love all your videos they inspire me often!!!! Keep up the great stuff. Thanks!!!
Deb t Yay i'm so happy to hear that you love your fauxbonichi!! I'm glad to hear that I inspire you because you inspire me too with questions and comments!! Thank you
Hi Vicky, Love your videos & I can truly relate to the Ah Ha moment of waiting to open a box related to hobonichi, journaling, supplies, planners & the list goes on. Your not weird, just tell your husband like I tell mine, I'm having a tranquil zen moment. Opening a box is beautiful moments because it's where beautiful moments are kept. My husband loves watching the process & the end result, but can't understand the beauty of opening the box. We understand & that's all that counts. Both hands High Five. :-)))
I really want a Hobonichi and your video convinced me to go ahead and buy it! Clearly I'll be starting one for 2015, but I think I'm going to go to Barnes and Noble and get a cheap one to start now so that I can get into a routine. I'm slightly nervous about starting this type of journal because I can't draw very well at all... Maybe I'll just stick to adding photos, stickers, washi, etc. Thanks for sharing!
Fab as always. Did you know we are going on this journey with you? I feel like I'm riding along 😄. Thx for the video, I broke out my faux hobo and am continuing to write/draw/journal/record all the fun day to day stuff. Thank you Vickie for showing the way. . .🚗
Laurie Bennett I am so so happy to hear that Laurie!! I do feel like you have been on this journey with me but I love hearing that you are enjoying it too!! I love hearing that you are drawing and I hope your little one is continuing to draw too!! thank you so much for supporting me!!
You are so awesome! Your videos always make me happy because you're so positive and pleasant. =] You are definitely one of my favorite youtubers. You have inspired me to start a Hobonichi next year and a journal this year. Thank you for your videos and I hope you keep them coming. They always get me in a creative state of mind. I hope to see my Hobonichi videos in the future. =] Thanks again!
Lindsey Cobb Thank you so so much for your very kind words! You saying that is very inspiring!! I am so happy to hear you will be using a hobo next year. Please share with me your journey with it and how it is working for you!! xoxo
Hi, I am late to the party ;) I just found your channel. I love this review! I have one thing to add: another difference between the japanese and the english version is the grid size. It is slightly bigger in the english Version. No big deal, but the stencil from the hobonichi store is made for the japanese version (the rows of stars and checkboxes fit exactly line by line) This was the reason I chose the jp version.
Great video! Really helpful info, and not too long for me. I am in a Midori/Fauxdori craze at the moment, and have started using the Leuchtturm1917 squared/grid notebook for my "fauxbonichi," which I am very satisfied with now. Pretty sure a Hobonichi will be in my future, though! Lol...
I also so that with any personal letters that I receive🙈🙈 I have to wait to un- open until I can sit quietly with a cup of tea and then open and read it 💁😁 x
where did you find the cover for the miquelrius? Also, what kind did you get for the miquelrius, and where did you get it (sorry for all the questions that arent about the hibonichi!) I have an hobonichi but i dont like having things pre set for me, and i rather just do it myself now that i see you can really make it look like the hobonichi without the hibonichi things i dont like with the miquelrius!! Thank you so much :D
Vicky...do they come in an academic year planner (July to July)? Like for teachers... This is all new to me! I am always in search of the perfect planner and still haven't found! Thanks for the review! Lisa

Love your videos! Just wondering if you have any experience with copic markers- for coloring etc? I really want some, but they are sooo expensive, so trying to do my reseach first;) Keep up the good work and God bless you! :)
Yeah that thoughts crossed my mind.I've just recieved a tax rebate today.I'm chuffed (extatic) about it.so I've got a Lil extra cash to burn... And it's my birthday soon...and I get my more pay next month... Do you think it's cheeky to order two covers for the hobonichi.so I can swap them when I get bored.oh yeah that's cheeky huh.hahaha
thank you for the information!! very informative :) does the cover-on-cover prevent you from using the back pocket on the cover? or is there a slot so that you can access it??
What are your thoughts on using a Midori style cover with the Hobonichi? I have seen a couple of folks do that, and I'm wondering if that would give more flexibility?
aprilquilts I think it would work just fine the only problem would be finding a miidori styel that is a6 or a5 but if you do then yes I think it would be great!!
Curious what the cost was for your order? I know I could go on the website and look but I'm afraid if I do I will buy regardless of the cost. Just wanted to get an idea before I even look! I have purchased so many things based on your recommendations. Thanks! 😊
***** I don't remember the exact cost to be honest with you but I believe it was alitte over a $100. If you are hesitant try one of the groups and see if you can split the cost with someone!
I ended up getting one! Got A6 English one with a cover and an extra cover on cover and a pencil board. It was only about $60. Not as bad as I expected. Can't wait till it gets here. How long did it take for yours to come? Thanks!!
Hi, I have been interested in the Hobonichi and your other planner (the yellow one) I wondered where you purchase from, I am in the UK and I can't seem to find any? I had a look on the link you gave but the currency is in Yen and not sure of prices or shipping, can you help? Susan
Susan Fraser Hi susan. The hobonichi site is all in english and if you google currency calculator you will be able to figure out what the exchange rate is from yen to pounds. I hope this helps!
I love your videos, you should already know that. I just feel i have to say that your eyes are super white, perhaps the light catches you concealer too much. Just noticing :)
I have tried to navigate their English Hobonichi site and for the life of me was not able to figure out the check out changing the currency to US dollars. Can you share on how you made your purchase?
Cześć:) Obecnie szukam informacji o Midori, Filofax, Hobonichi, itp. i muszę przyznać, że na Twoim kanale znajduje wiele ciekawych informacji i wskazówek. Uwielbiam Twoje filmiki. Pozdrawiam i całuje :)
I really love your videos, btw I don't think for one second that you are weird. I think you are so beautiful. I love all your videos, and carie's and Rhomany's and love when you do your collaborations ones
you shouldn’t put your blush that far down under your eyes. you should stop half the way you’re doing it now. sorry but i had to say this, you’d look so much better.

I love all of your videos, and you seem like a very genuine person!!! Can you use a hoboniche as a journal?
I love that you savor opening your mail! Me too!!.... I've never been able to explain it, even to myself, until now ... Haha silly
Lol...

Lillyspurs Hello!! Yes I have a bunch of copic markers. I might make a video soon and include the ones I think you should start out with!
That would be so great!!:) And would also be interesting to hear about what you mainly use them for:)
Yeah that thoughts crossed my mind.I've just recieved a tax rebate today.I'm chuffed (extatic) about it.so I've got a Lil extra cash to burn... And it's my birthday soon...and I get my more pay next month...
Do you think it's cheeky to order two covers for the hobonichi.so I can swap them when I get bored.oh yeah that's cheeky huh.hahaha

does the cover-on-cover prevent you from using the back pocket on the cover? or is there a slot so that you can access it??
janeypooxp Nope there is a slot in the back so that you can use the pocket! They thought of everything!
hi i have leukemia do you think the journal would be good for me to start

I love your videos, you should already know that. I just feel i have to say that your eyes are super white, perhaps the light catches you concealer too much. Just noticing :)
1503linkin Yes I think I had too much blush so it enhanced my under eye area!! I will try and fix it next time!

+The Paper Witch Yes it's a blank grid and I drew them all in, I have a video on how I do it called a DIY fauxbonichi.

I have tried to navigate their English Hobonichi site and for the life of me was not able to figure out the check out changing the currency to US dollars. Can you share on how you made your purchase?
It does not show dollars. I just went and converted yen to dollars.
I used a currency converter through a google search to get a more accurate idea...but a rough rule of thumb is that 1 Yen = approx 1 dollar.
Thank you. And the address, is it correct that all numbers should be as roman numerals?
Elisabeth Castro 1101.com should be fine, although if you just google "Hobonichi 2015" the website will come right up on the list.
Im confused about this too...I would live to place an order but I want to know how much moldy order is.
Cześć:) Obecnie szukam informacji o Midori, Filofax, Hobonichi, itp. i muszę przyznać, że na Twoim kanale znajduje wiele ciekawych informacji i wskazówek. Uwielbiam Twoje filmiki. Pozdrawiam i całuje :)
supereniusia Witam! Dziękuję bardzo za oglądanie moich filmów! Czy mieszkasz w Polsce? używasz dziennik? albo Midori? Hobonichi?
I really love your videos, btw I don't think for one second that you are weird. I think you are so beautiful. I love all your videos, and carie's and Rhomany's and love when you do your collaborations ones
you shouldn’t put your blush that far down under your eyes. you should stop half the way you’re doing it now. sorry but i had to say this, you’d look so much better.
What cover did you use for your faux hobonichi?
mlc3837 It is a 2014 cover from the hobonichi website and I don't think they carry it anymore.
I agree great info but for busy people way too long, you need to get to the point
