I literally just finished A Very Large Expanse Of Sea & i absolutely loved it! As a muslim girl who wears hijab myself I could totally relate to Shirin, I actually experienced a lot of the same things she did.. it was heartbreaking to read about it because it made me think back on my own experiences.. but there are a lot of cute scenes as well. I just feel like this book could teach a lot of people about how much prejudice can mentally & physically hurt a person
I am currently waiting for Strange The Dreamer to come in the mail, it’ll be the next book i pick up, I heard so many great things about it & i’m so excited to read it!

YES. I'm so glad that you felt that way about AVLEOS ❤ and you're exactly right, there is so much to learn from that book and I learned so much myself. I'm sorry that you had to experience some of the same things and I can only hope that people become more conscious of their prejudices and learn to be human and kind to people they don't immediately understand. *sending hugs* Strange the Dreamer is a lovely, monstrous book and I'm sure you'll love it!

my top 3 books of the year:
    1. the girl from aleppo - nonfic about nujeen’s journey across europe fleeing the syrian conflict all whilst in a wheel chair. i have never been so moved by someone else’s life story.
    2. noteworthy - ya contempt that’s a mash up between pitch perfect and she’s the man. that also looks at class, race, sexuality and pays perfect nods to the trans community whilst discussing gender.
    3. final draft - ya contempt about a girl who’s writing a book is scared for others to read it cos she fears it’s not good enough. i don’t think i’ve ever read a book that so well depicted skl life and it’s pressures, friendship and fandoms, mental health, sexuality, faith, family and so, so much more. if you liked radio silence and fangirl then i firmly believe you’ll love final draft.

My top read of the year was Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom. Don't make me choose which one I love more, I can't XD It's feels like a long time since I found a series that has grabbed me like that. I just finished rereading the first one for the second time right before the end of the year.
