I used to own an asr 10 about 25 years ago. Yes I made an whole album on it. Yes it sounds amazing. And yes, even though I had to use the sequencer, it really was shite. Glad you still enjoying it, and totally understand why you pair it with the mpc. For my album we recorded to 24 track. We striped one track with smpte and bounced out the music one track at a time to tape. We couldn't bounce more than one track at a time due to midi chocking on the asr
I have several music production/studio setups and the ASR-10 / MPC2000 is one I set up a few days ago. I'm still learning to use them separately as well as together. I saw an interview where Alchemist said only a few people like Timberland can make the drums sound good on the ASR-10. Good video. Thanks.
@@basedvato Nah, not really B. Timbo's claim to fame as a producer altogether to his sound or beat was made before the Yamaha Motif even came out. Not to say he hasn't created some killer joints using the Yamaha, he did. But, a lot of Tim's early joints like "One In A Million, The Rain, Big Pimpin', etc..." & especially "Pony by Ginuwine," a lot of that stuff was done on his Ensoniq ASR-10 in the lab. However, he's used a few different pieces of gear in his career from the jump. Yet, to say exactly who, what, when, why & how he did this or that in production over the years will probably always be an untold mystery we may never know. Even still Timbo has stated many times how special the ASR-10 is & was to him in the creativity of his music & many other producers as well, no doubt! ++Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul++
@based nato, Yo B.! I'm just saying there's still gear today that's unmatched & can't bring out what the ASR-10 can do. The 2 biggest problems of owning an ASR is trying to keep it cool & keeping your head down to learn how to really use the ASR to it's full capability. It's not an easy board to get use to or learn, that's for sure. But, you've got to dig in & do the work my friend cuz it's a great keyboard whether you owned one back in the day or even now IMO. You'd be hard pressed to find a piece of gear that can create the fatness in some of those ASR sounds. Some of the unique full sounds in the ASR are in a league of their own no matter what DAW or board you've got. You do you but I'd suggest to keep on keeping on & let the music do the talking. Figure out what gear you groove on the best & keep creating a vibe. \m/(>.
I seen someone in my area selling a classic for a few bills and real tempted to grab it, even tho it would feel redundant - I love the lofi crunch of the drums.
I have the eps-m classic as well very steely tho… the asr10 isn’t bad ?? It puts a warm glow over the sound and makes everything sound better can’t compare those 2 samplers. The eps classic yes is 13bit but the converters are 16bit
The sequencer on the Asr10 is clearly on point not an Mpc just different in a good way. Makes it easy real workstation and have a really good feeling in timing. You can produce full tracks on it like Alchemist, Rza, etc…
RZA has made his classics with asr10..... Legendary machine🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏
These 2 will always remind me of early Kanye... That MPC2000 and ASR10 combo is classic. I had the 2000 and EPS16+
Love it. Raw and thick. ASR sample aesthetics and MPC timing makes exclusive feelings
Thanks man, it’s a sauce hard to replicate. They way slower then modern solutions but the vibe you get just hits different imo
I had an mpc2000 great little machine just couldn’t get it to swing like the 60 so kept the 60… interesting tho asr and the 2000 🤟
MPC 3000, SP12 and the s950. Shits unstoppable! I do wish I had an ASR10 though!
Keep rocking it!
Asr10 and j dilla gaffer taped to an mpc 3000 👍
Name a better duo. Sp 1200 + asr 10
Mpc60 and emax 1
ASR-10 with scsi and SD card drive with an output expander into a Tascam model 12 then into Pro Tools.

Kanye West left hand and right hand 🎧🎹🔥💣💾😎
MacBook + ASR 10
low key how it is with these modern laptops and vintage gear
🔥🔥🎧 bro!! I like the ASRX and mpc one or the asr/2000xl

I thought timbo claim to fame was making the drum sound crazy from the Yamaha Motif... but Tim could probably make any gear sing.

Sp 1200 & Akai S950
I had the ASR10 and the SP1200. Now I only work with Logic and pro tools. I do miss the days of hunting thru tons of disk for sounds.
The color on this is amazing
I sometimes use a similar setup with my EPS classic and my MPC Live 2
Yup…still use this combo…even that Mac mini lol….if it still works…use it!!
Sounds great, need to repair mine quick
Hell, I use the ASR 10,B an 8 track cassette and a midi time code sync box. Thats a pain in the azz

I used to overuse that spinz 808 when i first started yo
oldie but goodie
@@basedvato factual info!
One question.. more content? :-p
MpcKeys 61 and Integra 7
I'll name a better duo
mpc2000 and EPS classic
the OG 13bit one. I like my beats extra dirty. Not that the asr10 is bad though.

Hi what’s the vocal sample from ?
kanye setup
Kurzweil K2000 and Roland MC-909 plus DP/4 ( name a better duo )
Why kurweil out of interest ?
@@saren6538 : Because its very deep, and most people want instant "success" K2000 still very good with its vast synthesis.
@@denlehmann : Across a Tascam FW1884 ( midi and audio ) and its adat i/o (8 chs) into an RME dsp9632 pci (xeon based desktop) DAW.
Honestly it’s kinda trash 😅 your 100% right. No comparison to the mpc. But I like the asr10 more all over.

Mpc 3000 and s950/ emax.
I’d go 60 and 950
@@saren6538 i had 60 and s950.
Strong combo, no doubt. But to me 3000 gives you a little bit different sound. S950 can sound close to 60.
@@3rd_eyevision do you think so ?? I have the s950 and 60 and don’t see them similar but others have said they are close
@@saren6538 they are not the same, but at max sampling rates, they do sound quite similar.
@@3rd_eyevision yeah the s950 is 12bit the whole way whereas the 60 is 12bit but with 16bit converters
