Perhaps Max Weber was on to something when he wrote "
The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism."
The music made it so I could only hear evey other word
the capitalist should contemplate the saying "live by the sword" etc .
if self interest is held as a moral standard , then don't be surprised when the worker revolts out of SELF INTEREST .
Here’s a good topic if you guys are running out of any which I’m sure not.
Is OBESITY an unrepentant sin?
(Not related to any underlying medical conditions, like hypothyroidism, of course).
Well back in the day people worked like horses and barely eat. No pretty much no one was fat. There’s be rarely any far people and ones who were far were royalty, elites, rich who sat on their asses and ate whatever they wanted. In this modern world, our physical workload is reducing but our food supply is expanding and unhealthy food is becoming cheaper and cheaper. So they’re more fats than ever.

@Marcus Hugo I heard that he's strategies are really good!
He,s stories are everywhere 😱
Is capitalism selfish? No. People are. That is why the two competing systems they've come up with to compete with each other on, capitalism and socialism/communism, are both only concerned with material wealth as the indicator of human value. The difference is that they disagree on how to distribute it
People use the words of Jesus to defend this idea!
Capitalism can be summed up just as private property rights. You can expand from there to include bettering yourself and others. Every day that I wake up and go to work, by that very act I am making the world a better place for myself and others. Do away with capitalism, and everyone is a slave. ps: Socialism is just giving away money that used to belong to someone else. pss: George Gilder is speaking drivel, and the music isn't helping. I don't understand why Wilson is wasting his time on him.
@Willow what is your point?
@Willow That is a strawman argument. Burning the candle at both ends was not discussed in my OP. Also, capitalism isn't heading for a crash. When our economy crashes, it will not be because of capitalism, but rather because our government spent more than was taken in due to socialist safety net systems like Social Security and Medicare and government pensions. It is socialism that is driving unsustainable spending, not capitalism.
@@mrtodd3620 Capitalism is not a free market. Under a free market there are no profits because marginal cost=marginal revenue.
@@mrtodd3620 Capitalism is state sponsored usury...capitalism destroys free markets

Holy cow these people are sick.
What malarkey. What an absolute denial of human nature.
Not so black and white
I'm not against capitalism - just the explanation that's given here.
@@johnschutt9187 I understood that. And I tend to agree with you. But it is not 100% wrong or a full denial of human nature. I think the explanation is wrong in most cases but it’s not so black and white. Let’s not start defending greed as a virtue even though capitalism is the system that works despite the fact that humans are sinful and by and large greedy and selfish. I think that should be the point taken.
Lol what a load. yeah, entrepreneurship is all about outward giving and not about gaining. this is so fallacious. this explanation is as utopian as the critiques of socialism/communism.
I think it's more of an ideal expressed in the Reformed tradition, and not necessarily in the secularized form of capitalism we have today.
But yeah... I think it's a hard notion to swallow after we've seen many centuries of robber barrons exploit workers and then cover up their reputation through an endowments and philanthropy. If you really love people, you don't work them to death extracting every bit of the surplus value of their labour.
