  • Good Charlotte was one of the biggest pop punk bands in the early 2000s. They were twin brothers with passion and drive to make it. They hit mainstream success with their relatable music and lyrics. But as time went on they became the very people they hated. They got caught up in drugs, drinking, and the life styles of the rich and the famous.

There is no drugs involved with GC. Only Chris (their drummer from 2002-2005) had those problems and he was kicked from the band because of it.
Youth Authority did good. Only reason Generation Rx is on 20k is because its 2 short...Streaming album sales is a complicated issue...but the more songs it has the more "sales" it gets. Now they focus on family. They are all family men.
You talk alot of bs. They were not dropped by Capitol...they had a break and when they came back they were business men themselves. Youth Authority charted higher then Cardiology which was on Capitol.
They still (when they tour) perform for 3-5k people. And the last show for the Generation Rx tour they had their biggest show in UK to date where they played at Ally Pally infront of 10K. They own a management/record label now called MDDN and more...The reason for the last two albums not "selling" is because its not the CD age anymore. Also they aint good at marketing Good Charlotte anymore. They stay away to long and just do some shows here and there. Because they focus on their family. They have achieved everything. And not relatable anymore? If you cant relate to Generation Rx then you cant relate to anything. Its all about the opiod crisis.
Also they have said that they make an album when they feel like they have something to say. They dont have deadlines anymore as they are in complete control themselves. They all grew up to become real respectable men, and with real good families. Not many Hollywood couples stays together, but Joel and Nicole? They were obviously a perfect match. And regarding Hilary Duff...outside USA its legal to drink when you are 18. So if he at 23 wanted to bang a 16 year old so f ing what. Not our business. Its only in USA you can drive a CAR but not drink until you are 21. Its absurd.
GC are awesome and always will be. Check the same type of bands like them, Yellowcard, Simple Plan etc...same thing regarding sales.
Also, Good Morning Revival had their biggest single ever, "I Dont Wanna Be In Love"...and that album came out just at the time album sales started to decrease and streaming hadnt become a thing. You illegaly downloaded in 2007. For Cardiology they should have stuck with Howard Benson if they wanted hit songs. But they didnt feel it was them, it felt "plastic" so they went and made what THEY wanted together with Don Gilmore. From 2010 they have done it THEIR way.

Inaccuracies is an understatement. Benji and Joel might have fallen off the reality truck but the rest of the band held onto their wits and all three have built lives beyond GC. I would love to see a new album but who knows. Benji and Joel its seems are still full of themselves and seem to forget, the two of them alone, they aren't GC.

As a 60 year old punk rocker I am convinced that the drug and alcohol bollox is actually pushed by the suits in the record industry.
For them music is “product “, these young people are there for one reason and that is to produce that product so they can make money.
To actually keep the energy going that is demanded by record companies and be clean I recon is next to impossible.
One day a savy law firm is going to look at how these young kids are treated and when they get the proof together they are going to make a fortune.
