Thanks John, you lifted my day up a little bit with this video as i just enjoy watching your stuff. I had a horrible day, but thanks for giving me a tiny distraction 😢
I have a large collection that ranges from a $10 Casio to a couple of watches that I’m almost ashamed to say how much they cost, and everything in between. Two Pagani‘s have made it into my permanent collection. The others became Christmas gifts and the feedback from the recipients was very good.. for the price I just don’t think you can beat them IMO.
I have a Casio U$30 and Gshock U$400. Now I bought PD-1688 (U$25), PD-1685 (U$29) & PD-1783 (U$60) only this month (march 2024) and love them all. Only cost me a total of U$114 for 3 watches.
Good taste. The Paganis are in my permanent collection too. They aren't perfect, but they continually amaze me at how much quality they offer at that price point. My PD Breiting killer has a level of finishing Breitling has only recently gotten close to. My all-stainless PD moonswatch homage with sapphire crystal AND bezel, embarrasses the heck out of the 6-mo-service-life biocerplastic original for a fifth of the price. My PD Seiko mechaquartz-powered Daytona homage looks good enough--even close up--that I don't wear it in high crime areas.
I have a few Pagani, watches, their standard has never been great but balanced up on what they provide for very little money imho they can’t be dismissed. They also cop a lot of criticism about being flagrant copies of big name watches, but hey the majority of watches today lack originality. Good review mate and happy to hear it’s a keeper 👍🏼
I got one through last week. Got to say I’m blown away. Been wary of PD before due to the true photocopy approach. However this is influenced rather than a copy. A Heuer is close as is a Tissot. But this is as original as a e.g Christopher Ward of recent times - heavily influenced but original. I think this will look better and better as it ages. Case finishing isn’t quite up to Seestern or similar but an eye on the £72 delivered to me has to be considered. I like it a lot. A keeper for years. I hope they continue to do some originals. Glad you like it too John!
Great review, as always, John! I'm impressed that this watch convinced you to keep a Pagani for yourself. The first time that I saw this watch in the thumbnail for your video, I thought it was an old Poljot (Okean, in specific), Raketa or maybe even an old Vostok Komandirskie. It appears to be an original for Pagani, but I think that it pays great homage to 70s Soviet era tonneau/cushion case watches with its look, to my eye at least. It's beautiful and may be one of Pagani Design's best to date! There's every chance it may end up in the same watch box as my vintage Soviet pieces very soon 😏
Very nice. I believe Pagani Design, as of late, has been stepping up their game. I recently purchased the pd-1717, and am impressed with the quality of this timepiece. Nice review.
My first Pagani was the PD 1717 and it did indeed blow me away. So much that I decided on this one for my chronograph. I love the vintage look. I purchased the Panda face; I'm waiting for it to arrive. Happy watch hunting.
Just bought this watch tonight for $49. Same model, this was the 2nd positive review I watched on this watch. I have two of the Daytona Pagani I bought for the same price, very nice too. I did buy a WatchDive Daytona for better lume for a gift.
This is truly a cracking PD! In my basket, white dial with leather strap. Waiting a little to see if any other discounts or sale. I really like to add this one to my collection.
Looks sharp! I love that case profile. I think they're using higher quality/clarity sapphire crystals...I just unboxed the new PD-1784 and like this, it's super clear. Really elevates the watch to the next level. Everything is crisp and glossy!
Yeah it is nice to see. They are such an infuriating brand. That can do it but it's like they just forget everything after each release! Glad they have got this one out though. It's really good 😊
The second hand in a bright colour..perhaps orange would be nice. If the crew at PD need any help with design, im available by appointment. Great job with the vid as usual John.
I don’t know if this is either a Tissot 1973 heritage homage or a Bulova Lunar pilot but looks inspired instead of a direct copy. My favorite is still the vintage air king inspired they did a couple of years before but nice release anyway
I think it’s a scaled down Lunar Pilot with a hint of Tissot. Would they have gone for all the subdials in contrasting colours, it would clearly be Lunar Pilot for people with standard size wrists.
I agree, really nice looking watch. Will be buying one soon. I only buy Paganis with the Seiko movements, by far their best watches. Great review, as always.
I’ve generally had good luck with Pagani and this looks like one I'd enjoy. I do think they've been trying harder lately and I'm glad they finally managed to satisfy you. Feels like a good omen for their 2024 output. I like a man with the honest objectivity to revise his opinion; that made this review all the better. Well done, John.
That's a pretty good watch John . I'm impressed. Glad to see you've found a good PD. As for the lume I have a,far more expensive Orient Chronograph and the lume is about the same.
The only questionable Pagani I own would be Doxa 300t homage - wobbly bezel. I have this watch arriving soon. I'd say Pagani watches are improving a lot and I'll always get the bracelet versions. The Pd1701 MoonWatch is a fantastic watch too worth adding to your collection.
My experience with the PD1701 wasn't so good. Watch head good but the bracelet was useless and could not be adjusted. They did send a replacement bracelet which had exactly the same problem. Never had a good bracelet from them unfortunately so I'm glad you have had better luck 🤞
This looks like a good one this time. If I hadn't already had a Bulova Lunar Pilot I'll get this one. By the way, I will get the bracelet version since it's rare that they actually have 2 half links! Great review.
@@johnswatchjointBy the way you're spot on about the strap. Normally I'd say buy the bracelet, keep it in the box and get an aftermarket strap. But when the strap is as nice as this one, it's probably worth saving a little and opting for it.
Yeah PD are hopeless in the bracelet department. Even if they just stuck to the basics I'm sure they could master it but they chop back and forth and seem to get nowhere!
Great review as usual. wasnt sure about this at the start but by the end I was sold on it. great its a strap monster too. Hope things are looking up for you John.
Great watch overall , But like most Pagani design watches could use better AR coating I'd be glad to pay a little extra for it and I'd wager most of you would to.
Well colour me surprised! Like you, I gave up on Pagani Design a long time ago. I wasn’t expecting much from this release but your video just changed my mind.

Good to see PD using a dbl-dome crystal here and also on their homage of the zulu time. Those crystals PD puts in too many of their watches are flat-bottom (or single dome) like on the Spirit or the blackbay chrono, thus giving that hazy, distorted look.
The blue version looks like it would do nicely paired with jeans, a T-shirt and 24°C. I'd like to say I'm 'thinking' of buying one but it's already been decided really.... I have accepted my soft spot for '70s design, might as well roll with it. That being said, where'd you get that razor bracelet? My guess would be it's a Miltat like the Rollball I have on my Kamasu...financially I hope that guess was a swing and a miss but seeing the quality of it I would be surprised if it isn't.
This is a solid looking watch, particularly for the price. I recently ordered a Pagani Design (my first from the brand), a PD YS008 chronograph with the coffee dial and rose gold colored case. Still waiting for it to arrive, but am hoping for a good experience with it.
Interesting. I think if the bracelet is the same price as the leather strap then I will get it on the bracelet. I can change the strap easily and do change straps often. But it's hard to get a generic bracelet to fit. Price in USA $87. Very reasonable. I can do that for a Chinese watch. When Chinese watches are $200 I start thinking, "No, I will spend a little more for a Swiss Tissot or maybe still more for a Hamilton."
Hi buddy. The inside of the lugs are not as refined as I would like but it doesn't affect the look or the wearing of the watch. The bottom of the case on my watch is fine.
For me 2 things would have made this design even better. I know few if any (including myself) ever actually use the chrono other than to play with, but minute markers on the 60 minute chrono dial would have been nice IMHO. Also, on a number of newer models they are just using the logo and not the name on the watch face.
I'd say it's closest to my grail watch, the Omega Seamaster Jedi, but the Pagani doesn't share the oval crystal, just a semi-rounded pyramid case like the Omega. I've thought of buying a restored Omega, which I really wanted back in high school when I didn't have any money, but this Pagani captures most of the Seamaster's vibe, and at this price, how can you lose?
Like you, John, my experience with Pagani Design has not been a happy one. I have three in my collection (of 42) but only one that I am happy with... And yes it is a chronograph.. They seem to get them right. As you say, the bracelets are for the most part are not to standard. One watch came with a screw link bracelet where the screws were frozen and wouldn't unscrew... Ended up throwing the bracelet in the bin and using a zulu strap... But this Pagani you have reviewed looks much better, strap looks good too. As you say, wait for the price to drop. Good review as usual, thanks John.
how i hate butterfly clasps ... no micro adjustment! i dont know why pagani has that in most of its watches ... but i do love pagani watches ... i got 9 of it...
Looks like a Lunar Pilot for the average Joe. The original Lunar Pilot is huuge and it is too big for my liking, but this one looks like one can wear it without having The Hulk's wrist. Ordered one.
@@johnswatchjointgot it and it's meh. The dial is just printed and flat. If they just have put more effort into the dial, it would have been a phantastic watch, but with that dial... Meh! The bracelet is actually acceptable. But the dial 😢.
They really do make some of the best budget quartz chronographs out there. This one even seems mostly original to boot. I also saw a review of a new Patek 6007A Homage (PD1778), and I think this will be my first PD purchase. Now don’t be going and buying this watch and blaming me to your wife mate! Ha!
The broken clock is right twice a day, and so the right Pagani Design watch will work for you and me sometimes, too! 😂 Nice crystal, case and look. Especially this reverse Panda.
Pagani seem to be getting interesting lately. The one I have my eye on is PD1775, but there’s barely any reviews on it. Any chance you might review one or have any thoughts on it?
Hi there. It was released a few months ago and has not really been covered but Tomas Watch Reviews has done a great review so I would check it out. He covers everything including the new bracelet and clasp mechanism. I always advise that you check out multiple reviews before buying and Tomas is a straight shooter. Hope that helps :)
I liked before over 50 years watches from Germany or swiss....since Pagani I changed my mind....the watches are amazing in quality and design, in the end that what makes a good watch....who knows about movement....I save lot if money and spend it for more valuable things...be good
Exactly where should one buy a Pagani from? I find 4-5 (or more) sites claiming to be Pagani and a couple warning to look out for "fake" ripoffs. Please, if you could provide which site one should be buying from I would like to give one a go. If the link you provide in the description is their "official" site then thank you and nevermind... ;-)
Pagani is the Brand Name and there are many stores that sell it on AliExpress. There are reputable stores that both I and other reviewers use. Such a link is in the description :)
I WISH there were 24hr dials available for ALL watches as the main display! This AM/PM nonsense is junk, and I have missed appointments, because idiots were not clear about what time of day they meant! The only people on the planet I ever met, who complain about the standard International 24hr time format are US-Americans! PLUS, the PD-1782 is an homage to the Bulova Lunar Pilot, a space watch! There is no regular sun-lit day rotation in space off the Earth's surface, so you NEED a 24hr dial. Is that so hard to grasp?
I've bought their v3 speedmaster homage and a the previous panda homage. Thhisnisbthenonly one that tempts me sinnce. They want $120 Canadian on link as our dollars low. I'll consider it in a sale
I think of you keep the price in mind, and can make your peace with the VK63 and that useless 24 hour subdial (I can't and will never own one) and are willing ro replace rhe bracelet, this is a winner. I have replaced both bracelets on the 2 PD I have purchased and then given them as gifts. Also, I played a drinking game and had to drink every time you said "on the wrist," and now I'm dhejrifjsnc dhcurqod fhre ....
Kinda but it has some other influences as well. I do think they have done a lot of their own stuff here. The photocopier must have broken prior to production!
Have had several PD watches. Agree, their bracelets are generally awful. The Seiko nh34 (I think that's right) GMT batman was a decent watch. Other than that the rest were pretty average. This one looks decent on a strap. Ps you have snow! Nothing worth talking about in NI.
Always, ALWAYS get the bracelet. Doesn't matter if it's trash, if you plan to eventually sell it it'll help the resale, and it's normally only a couple of pounds more. Most collectors will have a vast collection of straps, so get the bracelet and decide for yourself.
You can find them quite easily on eBay just type in microbrands or find and list the micros you are interested in then search for them specifically on the platform :)
It's gorgeous, make it go away. I'm just not buying a watch with Pagani Design on the dial, it's a mash of up of Pagani supercars and Porsche Design and just screams naff. If they just put the logo on the dial I'd buy it in a shot.
Unfortunately the Sea- Gull is not as reliable for daily wear. More for occasional wear as with long-term use it is prone to malfunctioning. This is a good reliable movement for everyday use :)
@@johnswatchjoint Right. I don't see the point of having a watch that you can't use under all lighting conditions--i.e., 1/3 to 1/2 of the day (in the winter).
Where the hell are you with a uk accent and snow…. I’m Canadian so I’m used to seeing it everywhere all the time all at once but a uk man and snow …. Doesn’t exist never seen or heard of it
If they could only ditch that horrible faux-Porsche style logo they have. Also.... I can't deal with their name. Do the Chinese really love Italy that much? Reminds me of euro shoe sections in the US. Nobody would be caught dead with that on them, let alone me. Just can't.
They really make garbage watches. Poor lume and quality control . I understand a 60 buck watch I bought for double that was new. They do no learn. They do not listen to customers with problems and therfore don't care what they do. They make cheap watches. Don't expect performance from. They don't care to make a nice warch and I spent enough money on a turkey of a watch. Garbage product.
A lovely piece in my shopping cart, to be ordered after the car repair and vet-bill is paid Why, oh why, does none of you youtubers see the strong similarity to the Bulova Lunar Pilot? Mind you, it is a very nice watch, much wrist friendlier than the oversized Bulova, because it is compact, and it is of course only 1/10th of the full blown "collectible" Bulova version with a "special" cardboard box for 800 dollars, PLUS the Bulova itself is only a quartz homage of the original automatic prototype, so what's the point of blowing all that money, when the Pagani sells for under 90 dollars? Also a truth here: Bulova back-pedalled on their 10sec/year claim and mentions NOTHING about accuracy now, most likely due to lack of thermal compensation! Without that, the Seiko/TMI VK63 is amazing in comparison, my own Pagani 1676 holding well within 5 secs/month, so just about as good as the overrated Bulova/Citizen/Miyota 262KHz calibre, at 1/10th the cost, and better battery life with a smaller and cheaper battery!
Yeah, I'm with you on the Lunar Pilot thing, even the pushers are (almost) similar. More wearable size for average 7" wrists like mine, and the mechaquartz to boot. My VH65 (in PD-1654) is also just ~24 seconds behind nearly 3 months since last adjustment for end of daylight savings.
This could be my first PD watch.

Hi Ken. Thanks for sharing that :)
how i hate butterfly clasps ... no micro adjustment! i dont know why pagani has that in most of its watches ... but i do love pagani watches ... i got 9 of it...
Hi.
I have 2 Paganis and many Casio’s.
I really like this one though.
All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧
Nice. This is one of their better watches :)
For me the problem is I don't like the logo and I don't think I can use it no matter how pretty the watch is.
Each to their own ;)
Looks like a Lunar Pilot for the average Joe. The original Lunar Pilot is huuge and it is too big for my liking, but this one looks like one can wear it without having The Hulk's wrist. Ordered one.
Nice one. Enjoy 😊
@@johnswatchjointgot it and it's meh. The dial is just printed and flat. If they just have put more effort into the dial, it would have been a phantastic watch, but with that dial... Meh!
The bracelet is actually acceptable. But the dial 😢.
Nice review, I like the case, strap and dial. It looks much better than its price.
Hi buddy. It's a nice watch and totally unexpected....as you know I am no PD fan but every watch gets the same scrutiny...and it did fare very well :)
They really do make some of the best budget quartz chronographs out there. This one even seems mostly original to boot. I also saw a review of a new Patek 6007A Homage (PD1778), and I think this will be my first PD purchase. Now don’t be going and buying this watch and blaming me to your wife mate! Ha!
Haha. I have seen it but opted for the similar looking PD1780 with the Vh88 movement in it...so entirely my bad this time haha!
The broken clock is right twice a day, and so the right Pagani Design watch will work for you and me sometimes, too! 😂 Nice crystal, case and look. Especially this reverse Panda.
Very true Bensy ;)
Pagani seem to be getting interesting lately. The one I have my eye on is PD1775, but there’s barely any reviews on it. Any chance you might review one or have any thoughts on it?
Hi there. It was released a few months ago and has not really been covered but Tomas Watch Reviews has done a great review so I would check it out. He covers everything including the new bracelet and clasp mechanism. I always advise that you check out multiple reviews before buying and Tomas is a straight shooter. Hope that helps :)
@@johnswatchjoint yeah, I saw his one, that’s where I learned about it, but kinda wanted more opinions on this one before committing. 😀
the bracelets suck, but you can replace the clasp. LIW has good ones in 16mm & 18mm
I liked before over 50 years watches from Germany or swiss....since Pagani I changed my mind....the watches are amazing in quality and design, in the end that what makes a good watch....who knows about movement....I save lot if money and spend it for more valuable things...be good
Enjoy them 😄
Exactly where should one buy a Pagani from? I find 4-5 (or more) sites claiming to be Pagani and a couple warning to look out for "fake" ripoffs. Please, if you could provide which site one should be buying from I would like to give one a go. If the link you provide in the description is their "official" site then thank you and nevermind... ;-)
Pagani is the Brand Name and there are many stores that sell it on AliExpress. There are reputable stores that both I and other reviewers use. Such a link is in the description :)
24 hour dial. Instant deal killer. PD could have used a VK 67 but….noooo, we need to know if the sun is out………Thanks John!
Yeah the price should settle soon ;)
Can u do a review on San Martin SN004 V2 Blue Bezel
Hi there. No plans to do one as I have covered this style extensively :)
@@johnswatchjoint what about the sn0138G
Already ordered ;)
I think of you keep the price in mind, and can make your peace with the VK63 and that useless 24 hour subdial (I can't and will never own one) and are willing ro replace rhe bracelet, this is a winner. I have replaced both bracelets on the 2 PD I have purchased and then given them as gifts.
Also, I played a drinking game and had to drink every time you said "on the wrist," and now I'm dhejrifjsnc dhcurqod fhre ....
My wrist is only 15cm/5.9 inch. U think it can fit my wrist? Thanks
My wrist is 6.75 inches. You may struggle :)
Thanks for the video
You bet
Pagani needs to make some NON-chronograph watches. I want to watch a second-hand.
Sir is this watch is automatic or quartz ???
?? Clearly stated in the video...quartz.
Nice watch... really.
As a Pagani Design watch ...it surprised me ...Really :)
Nice video!
Thanks for the visit and glad you like it ☺️
Looks similar to bulova moon watch
Kinda but it has some other influences as well. I do think they have done a lot of their own stuff here. The photocopier must have broken prior to production!
Have had several PD watches. Agree, their bracelets are generally awful. The Seiko nh34 (I think that's right) GMT batman was a decent watch. Other than that the rest were pretty average. This one looks decent on a strap. Ps you have snow! Nothing worth talking about in NI.
Aye. I have had to eat humble pie on this one! Molly loving the snow being of Russian descent. I'm bloody freezing 🥶!
which watch are they copying here?
For a change it's not a copy. Bit of Bulova, Bit of Zenith ... :)
@@johnswatchjoint Oh that makes it more interesting... Nice video mate. Thanks!
Did you really end up keeping it?
I did for a few weeks....
@@johnswatchjointWell it's a journey.
Always, ALWAYS get the bracelet. Doesn't matter if it's trash, if you plan to eventually sell it it'll help the resale, and it's normally only a couple of pounds more. Most collectors will have a vast collection of straps, so get the bracelet and decide for yourself.
Normally I would agree. But EVERY PD bracelet I have handled has been bin worthy. In this case the watch sells for the same price so no harm done.
Where are people buying and selling these micro brand watches ? I'd be interested in picking up some used ones . Thanks
You can find them quite easily on eBay just type in microbrands or find and list the micros you are interested in then search for them specifically on the platform :)
@@johnswatchjoint thanks for the reply. I'll be on the look out
Hermoso reloj homenaje a zodiac* a un precio muy guapo🥰$$$👍
Why not have a date window though? These VK63 movemens have the date wheel underneath, why not give the option of a date.
From experience it spoils the symmetry of the dial. They did it on the PD1701 and it just wrecked it :)
Looks nice however a am a Dive watch guy.
If you subscribe you can see I have reviewed hundreds of watches ..mostly divers :)
I Hamilton pan euro chronograph
It looks like a HAMILTON khaki chronograph.
it's just a copy of the zodiac grand rally watch,
it's "inspiration watch" like any other watch they have
fyi, this movement will stop automatically after 60mins.
? Explain
@@johnswatchjoint thats how the movement was designed. it's in the manual.. to conserve battery i guess.
It looks like a Huer Montreal.
Why can't Pagani do lume properly. It's always so weak.
We are all asking that very question❓
@@johnswatchjoint Right. I don't see the point of having a watch that you can't use under all lighting conditions--i.e., 1/3 to 1/2 of the day (in the winter).
Where the hell are you with a uk accent and snow…. I’m Canadian so I’m used to seeing it everywhere all the time all at once but a uk man and snow …. Doesn’t exist never seen or heard of it
You've never heard of Scotland's legendary weather then 😆!
Yes, I lived in bleak Newfoundland aka The Rock.@@johnswatchjoint
If they could only ditch that horrible faux-Porsche style logo they have. Also.... I can't deal with their name. Do the Chinese really love Italy that much? Reminds me of euro shoe sections in the US. Nobody would be caught dead with that on them, let alone me. Just can't.
Unfortunately you seem to be in the minority and lots of people are wearing them whilst alive...including me apparently ;)
@@johnswatchjoint Italian tennis shoes or the spaghetti scametti watch?
Neither! ;)
My experience so far has not been good but I have to call a good watch a good watch and this is a good watch. I am as surprised as you :)
A lovely piece in my shopping cart, to be ordered after the car repair and vet-bill is paid
Why, oh why, does none of you youtubers see the strong similarity to the Bulova Lunar Pilot? Mind you, it is a very nice watch, much wrist friendlier than the oversized Bulova, because it is compact, and it is of course only 1/10th of the full blown "collectible" Bulova version with a "special" cardboard box for 800 dollars, PLUS the Bulova itself is only a quartz homage of the original automatic prototype, so what's the point of blowing all that money, when the Pagani sells for under 90 dollars?
Also a truth here:
Bulova back-pedalled on their 10sec/year claim and mentions NOTHING about accuracy now, most likely due to lack of thermal compensation!
It does have classic chronograph looks but not really from Bulova. More on the Zenith side of things really :)
