Where have you been? How old are you? Machel has been performing since the 80s and has perform across many countries including here in the US. He's very well known here! Sadly it takes till foolish social media to make things go viral. Look at Afrobeats. Up until the last few years when was you hearing it? All those foolish challenges is what it took. Which is crazy! That genre just like Soca music has been around for decades, but again cultureless people who think the Caribbean aside from the Latin Caribbean genres(they probably don't know all of those either) is just reggae or dancehall. Far from the truth! People need to open up and learn about different genres. Tik tok etc shouldn't be the fuel to embrace beautiful international genres!
Kes is a much better singer. The more stripped down and acoustic it is, the better he sounds because he has to sing the lyrics faster with the drums playing.

Machel spread soca outside of Trinidad and Tobago. Japan, UK, and so many others. Kes is following in his footsteps and I love it. also if you know anything about soca, KES has a beautiful voice but Machel stage performance is what have him where he is today. He can put on a show with performance and presentation.
