I have been playing games my whole life, and don't normally have this problem, but I swear for almost every area in chapter 12 I need to look up a walk-through because I just don't know what to do/where to go. I had no idea I could use the airstrikes the blow up the building let alone the tower, or that previously you needed to shoot the door with the cannon exactly THREE TIMES in order for it to break. I had shot it twice, nothing happened and I just assumed that wouldn't work. Not to mention the broken tank fight where you have to cheese it through the corner of the upper window of the armory with the rocket launcher at just the right angle so the tank can't hit you but you can shoot it until it finally explodes. It feels like someone else designed these levels compared to the ones in the lab that were much more readable and straightforward. I was starting to think it was the whole game, but it's not. It really is just Chapter 11 and 12 for the most part. I could never in a million years get through this without a guide. My brain is just incompatible it seems.
I never had any problemz wit' the level. By default, I look around real good an' collect all them supplies. If there's a special equipment left on the level, there is always a reason for it...

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I Would Have Never Gotten Past Chapter 12 Without It.
this mission lasts like 20 years
24:15, I don't know why but in my playthrough, when he opened the door, he just dropped dead XD.
same here
mines had a marine kill him
My game crashed
4 years late, but that's because entities are forced to complete all scripted actions before doing others. In this case, he was already dead, but the entity was forced to complete the "opening door" scripted sequence before the "die" event could happen.
@@invalid_user_handle I was just gonna say he was so amazed at how many guns there are, he had a medical event but your theory is also plausible.
19:00 this fence jump is hard af, having played thousands of Valve games between TF2, CS, LD2 can't do it lol
Dude are you playing on easy or normal cus the crossbow kills a grunt in two shots
on easy and normal Hgrunts can be killed with one shot lf the crossbow.
you might be in medium
Grunts can be killed in 2 crossbow shots to the non armour part of their body in medium as well.
If you score a headshot, they die within 1 shot. Same goes for the assassins.
For those who have problems with the ladder after the tank, the trick is to jump and release all the buttons in the air which makes it automatically grab the ladder
27:04 what is blud trying to achieve 💀💀💀
The Best thing is that for the Last part I almost didn't need a walkthrought. Thanks for help
26:00
Oh my fucking fuck, that’s how you pass it?! I was scouring everywhere. I did notice that ledge but everything blended in, I didn’t see that it continued to the outside.
I feel dumb but can’t fault myself too hard. It did cross my mind to jump there but thought it was a useless corner.
What does give me relief is 18:41 . My guy, go around lol. I did try jumping it a couple of times but remembered that there is no way that strat is intended & I stopped
I needed this twice, second time I had to use the hostage but the hostage was dead so I had to noclip.
36:25 "Sniper, you've been funny charged for 10 seconds" "oooh yeah thats the stuff right there"
Nice demonstration how boring this is when you know everything and play accordingly.
its still amazing for me
when you play accordingly you play the game? There isnt a difference its just how the developers intended.
Well its that combined with a "safe: player that still cannot play the damn game very well
This game really shows its age when the passage to the next segment is concealed behind some rocks with no obvious way to know it's there.
There was no indication I was meant to save the lazer gun ammo for the chopper beforehand, now I have no ammo for it and it's impossible to do, I love HL but sometimes it wants to be punishing instead of just challenging.
Use rpg two times to kill helicopter
Type "give ammo_Gaussclip" after activating cheats.
@@relativistictilsiter6060 I know I'm 3 years late but, I'm getting fucked by the Heli long before I get rockets. Bad advice
you can just run straight to the lake, but you'll take more damage
I am loosing my fucking mind over this jump
So if your having trouble trying to climb the fence, what i recommend is doing a laser mine staircase. all you need is 2 laser explosives and a fence.
One Mine?

If you only have one it's gonna be difficult but you'll have to find a way to do a higher jump.
Engineer gaming
The part with the mines and sniper's nest is sending me doo-lally
holy hell that cliffside part is a difficulty spike
also how did you get the rpg and grenade? i didn't see it anywhere
@@magepumpkin The missile launcher and missiles can be picked up at a side chamber rite at the cliffside. Sometimes y'don't even need to use'em on the chopper as it'll ram the cliffside and blow up.
I do have a question on how you managed to have 100% health and 100% charge on your suit and 100 rounds in the gauze Gun, to take down the Chopper. Been running around and back tracking the complexe and cant find any extra charge for the gauze gun.
18:46 I broke these things but the electricity didn’t turn off for me so I was wondering around for a good half an hour before giving up
So you're essentially Fucked if you're out of rockets?
No. You can shoot down the chopper with the molecule exciter too (2 charged shots). As for the tanks, satchels and machinegun grenades work just fine.
I spent 4 days while on vacation because of holy week playing this game on the steam deck. I enjoyed it but the no way point or map is really a pain in the ars.
That damned helicopter can be shooted by lasergun?!?!
I love this chapter because I can see daylight, meanwhile other chapters are mostly indoors.
23:13 is rage inducing. I don't have any god damn rockets so I literally can't get past this part.
The ending.... i love this game, but it's breaking my heart
Wait you can kill the helicopter??! I thought you were just supposed to avoid it
That was the original intention ye, but I killed it off wit' the molecule exciter, MUCH easier
@@TheLambdaTeamYe' i' killed' it' wit' tau' cannon' too'
This Helicopter is the reason I crash/shoot down every single helicopter I see in a Videogame
I completed Half Life and can't remember the section after 17:23
Guess it's so hard I unconsciously avoid replaying this level entirely
I love how Black Mesa perfectly summarized the Air Force's effect on the story and gameplay, you can remove them entirely and replace the F-16s with Harriers and not a damn thing will change, at least the Army is pulling their weight and actually trying to be a useful ally to the H.E.C.U.
24:53 i cannot climb the ladder
Edit:I managed to climb the ladder.Make sure you don’t hold any key after you make the jump. Leave all the buttons after making the jump
Life saver thank you!

I Just spent..... (rough estimate) 5 hours on this level. and It would be an extra 5 hours without this walkthrough
It's not THAT hard, pretty straightforward. The trenches part & light tank are the hardest.
my security guard will NOT open the last gate
Reload the game m8
Those snipers are the worst. I managed to throw a grenade up there multiple times yet still failed to take them out!
“Sv_cheats 1” then “impulse 101” in the console
What does it do?
@@beanng6310 gives you every weapon in the game with full ammo
in the won version, add -console to the shortcut, but in steam version, console is already enabled.
If you can't jump the fence just stick to the left wall of the minefield you won't get blown up
Straight up didn't even know you could destroy the helicopter lol
7:40 are you kidding me?? Ive been going round and round for half an hour and this little shithole is the passage i need to find to progress?? The blurry textures of the stones doesnt help either
Same bro ive ben trying to find the exit too
What is going to happen if a security guy at 42:00 (who opens door) would die somehow? Will the player stuck forever?
The screen fades to black and the game shows a message that says (though with different wording) that Gordon died because of him not using the guard
Im having a glitch. The guard at the end won't open the door for me. He just stares at the button to open the door... anyone knows a way? Reloading the game doesnt help.
@@rafjuh well , you can just noclip through
6:30 ive been here 45 minutes looking for this! If everything didnt look the fucking same it wouldnt be so hard
guys you can just jump over the barbed wire fence, you dont have to do the weird corner jump thing
19:10
i can't
i caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan't
I did and it took a loooooooooooooonnnnnggggg time
@@adityasamal3720 bro pls tell
also my hev suit is on 0, is it even possible?
@@yurihimesama14 you gotta try SUPER HARD or you could do it the old fashioned way, going through the land mines but that involves a lot more patience and failures. Well, you can always alter the source code(i mean hack the code)

More And More Chapters Are Keep Getting Hard.
This was in 1998 Kudos to the original development team 🙏
Dude, I had no rockets for the tank part at 23:35. I’m still stuck to this day
You don't need to destroy it. Just run like hell.
@@cathallynch1 lmao 1 month later I have finally beat it
You can use satchels as well.
Wait, in my game the goddamn chopper follows me around *everywhere*, why not in yours?
use the orange charge up gun or rocket launchher to shoot it
wow so OG half life didn't have those jets fly by and blow something up in the distance? I always thought that delayed blast wave was cool, guess it came later
I wish I knew I could take out that gun at the dam, I just ran to the edge of it and jumped into the water before it could kill me.
Huh, when I jumped into the water there wasn't the big alien fish.
18:41 this is really what you were supposed to do? I literally just rocket jumped to the roof.
And the the award for worst chapter goes to
24:55 , kept going after the tank. This game is testing every bit of patience that I have
35:50 Okay, wtf?!? I tried to open this door twice and both times got the *cannot use* "boop" sound. Grenadeing it didn't work so I wasted 15 minutes trying to parkour across the two hydraulic car lifts to get back into the vent. How close do you have to be for the door to door? I swear I really want to see the appeal of HL1 and have vowed to finish it before HL2 but so much of it is driving me insane.
surprised it took me a while to get up to this chapter, then i played through the chapter all the way until the end of the game in a single night. gotta admit it's probably my favorite chapter because it's so intense though, the amount of adrenaline i felt fighting in this 3-way war-zone gave me a headache afterwards (but again i kept playing ofc)
Got to the area with the mines and the fence... quit and started installing Black Mesa instead
Try finding this game in stores today. Its difficult.
Its free on steam
on steam its free go get this amazing game and more amazing parts
It's free on steam temporarily. You can buy it permanently for 8€ on steam.
Adam Otruba i bough the wholeeeeeee series on steam for 6 bucks
I trying to find it for PS2
Yeah, so why do people like this chapter? It is just enemy spam with next to no healing options. And these healing options don’t matter because you will lose everything in the next encounter. And it just drags on! Have fun getting killed every 20 seconds
Edit: welcome back to another episode of "I suck at this game and I'm frustrated, I need to cry about it in a comment". Sorry guys. Surface tension is fun, just don't suck at this game, problem fixed
Because they are fat no lifers who want to seem unique by liking objectively trash content
There's plenty of them. I'm playing on medium difficulty and have mostly gotten around just fine
Actually, every predicament here has its solution. Unless y'squandered valuable ammo previously an' didn't bother to grab some more, that is...
when you try to get through the fence is living hell
This is the moment Walter White becomes Heisenberg
