I always played the introductory riff in this key on piano. Personally, a suitable female voice is in F# minor, 1/2 step lower than this. Can also picture Alicia Keys doing this song live, but that's just me.

You should correct the pitch. I can tell right away because the beginning is in G minor in this video when it normally is in E minor. (For how I knew this, I have absolute pitch.)
