My dad learned to play this on a guitar he built growing up in the Ozark mountains in the 1930s. He always sang it when i was growing up. A friend played it on a harmonica at his funeral. I'll never forget it.
Great music is timeless. Robert Duvall is probably my favorite actor of all time. From early television to THX 1138 up til Secondhand Lions, he has been excellent! hj
Marty, you & The Fabulous Superlatives are THE VERY BEST! Real Country music at it's finest! Robert Duvall is one of the greatest actors of all time! You all did a FINE job on this classic song. Thanks for posting this! 🎸🎸
What a legend and what a band....I'm talkin bout the "great" Marty Stuart & his Fabulous Superlatives baby!!....see yall in September at the Colonial Theater!
We have seen Marty Stuart many times with the fabulous superlatives. Can’t wait for him to come back Hanford, California the fox theater. and please bring Robert Duvall with you.
Love the classic Fox Theatre by the town square park in Hanford. It was the last place I saw George Jones before he stopped touring. Bonus is real country fans always show up from nearby Lemoore Naval Air Station. AND it’s a short walk to the Amtrak station for the train back to Bakersfield, no need to drive. One trip my wife was 8 & 1/2 months pregnant and really huge. When the train pulled up everybody stood back in awe as we stepped aboard. Thanks for jogging memories.
Really cool. Used copies of the Tender Mercies soundtrack, which Duvall sings on and I think wrote one of the songs for, aren’t too hard to come by. Worth checking out. Really good, raw country record.
Two living Legends, sitting in the backyard of a humble old povertyville tract house in nowhere America? I can’t help but wonder what the whole story is.
Only Robert Duvall could have played Boo Radley, Frank Burns, Tom Hagen, Mac Sledge, Bull Meecham, Colonel Kilgore and, OF COURSE, Augustus McCrae…. He is a once in a generation actor.
McCrae. He was born to play that role. His performance was so authentic and appeared effortless.... If I could select any performer to play for Mr. Duvall, it would most certainly be Marty and the Superlatives!!!+
Love you marty ❤

Make country music great again✝️🇺🇸👍🏻
I wondered if this was correct, I've not gotten a nervous before.
Only Robert Duvall could have played Boo Radley, Frank Burns, Tom Hagen, Mac Sledge, Bull Meecham, Colonel Kilgore and, OF COURSE, Augustus McCrae…. He is a once in a generation actor.
Mr. Duvall is timeless and ranks extremely high along with Hoffman, Hackman, Pacino, Newman, etc....
His extraordinary performance as Augustus McCray
