Have driven my 508 for 3 months now and absolutely love it. Its a true pleasure to drive and combines great economy and power. Had a peugeot 504 and 205 yrs ago and loved those too 👍
Yes, BUT...few years ago when new 308 came out Peugeot looked like spaceship compared to golf 7 and now few years later i dont even notice 308 and golf 7 still manages to look fresh. Its something I cant put my finger on but german cars somehow stay fresh longer in terms of design. Btw I drive a Ford so no fanboyism here.
Great design. I love how French cars differentiate themselves from all the boring cars out there from most other brands. The rear especially looks super cool.
It's really nice to hear (and to read in the comment section) how this new Peugeot sedan lives up to what people expect from this kind of cars today. I'm french, and since I grew up with Peugeot 4 series and then worked at Peugeot, I've always had a true bind to this brand. But between 2001 and 2013 (that's a loooong time), Peugeot styling directions mostly made me cringe. They had to come up with the 308 in 2013, with the 5008 and now with this stunning new 508, to get all my love back again. There's been a tremendous step-up across the lineup lately, in terms of build quality, styling and overall look-and-feel, that shows Peugeot's new strategy. Oh, one thing they never lost : Peugeot has always been the best manufacturer (side to side with BMW) for everything related to handling and chassis design/settings. That is something that the press in the UK often ignores, praising for Ford's agility (which is good too). And this new 508 is no exception. It offers PERFECT balance between riding comfort; handling, and steering precision/feedback, like all the Peugeots always have. They really should develop some really powerful engines to suit their marvelous suspensions even better.
Karim KAIEL I agree with you, they should put 6-cylinder engines to match the vehicle. But unfortunately, Peugeot isn't in a position where they can develop an engine only to sell little of them. 😕 I still think it is crazy how the cars on the EMP2 platform handles, with a basic front wheel drive and standard suspension setup. Germans have to put 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel steering, and adaptive dampers to get close to matching French vehicles in terms of versatility.
I have owned quite a few peugeots and i literally stopped buying them after the 306 GTi-6 as the cars just became bland. Since their new CEO took over, they have produced some excellent cars, the RCZ (ive got the R), the 208, 308 mk2, 3008 SUV (just picking my 2nd one up next week), the 508 (test drove it and loved it but i needed a slightly more accessible car for taking the mother out and the 508 is a little difficult for her to get in, hence a new 3008 SUV). Its good to see they have their mojo back :)
I don’t own a Peugeot but I have to admit it seems it’s only their designers that make any meaningful effort in designing car nowadays. Most of the rest have gone terribly lazy.
@@davidviner4932 The New Mazda 3, Ford Focus, all Suzukies, the new DS3, Volvos; seems like there are plenty of examples that don't look like any VGA cars?
I have to say: If I had enough money, I'd buy a Peugeot 508 rather than an Audi A4/A5 5-door or VW Arteon. I mean look at it, it's stunningly beautiful (interior and exterior). I actually liked the design of the previous facelifted model of the 508. German cars don't look interesting anymore (except for the current Opel Insignia)
This car is absolutely stunning both in the interior and in the exterior. Saloons are far more interesting than the suvs that now everybody wants and especially this beautiful vehicle. Well done Peugeot!
The visual of this car is amazingly well done inside-out, undercut the car above its segment namely the repetitive looking premium German's rivals, let alone its nearest ... There's a lot of tasteful intricate design details around this car like the kink at the rear window complete with the GT emblem, the piano - inspired toggle keys and the quilted pattern on the seats which is not the usual cross - stitched diamond design that really show their design prowess ... Kudos, Peugeot 👏
Great review Ginny, you're right about the looks the 508 is a very pretty car & very reminiscent of Peugeot's of the past (like the 504) and that's a big compliment to give it, seems like Peugeot are finally staring to build interesting cars again. I'm with Batch though on the piano switches, i really like them too. It's a small touch but one that's so avent-garde, so French, like something you'd find in a big Citroen.
Peugeot is starting to recover from the dour decades of poor design and poorly built cars. The new range looks so refreshingly good and reliability is so improved.
For a moment I thought the cheering crowd came with the tilting lights 😂😂; on the other hand I think sedans have to be more equiped since the SUVs hords don't seem to calm down at the momment, I particularly prefer the sedan to a suv, great review as usual Ginny 👏👏👏
One of the best looking cars I've seen in a while. If it was in red that would be pretty much perfect. Enough about colour though. I would love to drive one soon.
My new 508 is just amazing. Love every detail of the car. For sure have things to get better in technology like the infotainment system so far a little bit laggy for my taste and the bluetooth connection tends to fail when the cell phone is placed at the wireless charging. But those are little details compared to the amount of car you get overall!

Went to buy a 508sw this week with my friend only to find out that neither of us could get into the car. We tried all sorts of things to get in, the salesman was laughing his head off at us, but he admitted we were not going to get in. Talk about being disappointed as I have had Peugeots before and had nothing like this, very very disappointed the problem is the roof pillor at the top of the door, just to low
La nouvelle 508 est tellement belle, même dans mes rêves les plus fou , j'aurai pas imaginé que Peugeot serai faire une voiture aussi réussit, et l'intérieur est fantastique venu du futur
Its odd, in recent years Mercedes and BMW have been offending us with some dog ugly models whilst Peugeot and Citroen and producing some really stunning cars :-)
Rear headroom (or lack of it) is going to hurt the sales.shame because it's a breath of fresh air design wise, but any body with kids/ grandkids 10 or older will give it a swerve due to rear space.
Not a bad car to drive, but the seating is too low, the horizontal piano keys' symbols are difficult to see and there are too many blind spots due to the position and shape of the steering wheel (not having physical means to control ventilation and dashboard illumination is a crime...)
Driving position is an habit. Its not to low, thats just a new one. Horizontal piano key is made that you dont need to look at it to use it, very practical and fonctionnal choice (look at the fully tuch screens of others cars, you cant do anything if you dont see the board). You can control ventilation with the tuch buton under the "piano", dashboard illumination can be change in the settings of the car.
@@LuvvSURYA Well, I'm genuinely curious though.
