    James Wiltshire is a gem. Always willing and ready to share his knowledge. No detectable ego at all. Every single product F9 puts out is just world class and every one has exceeded my expectations.

    The F9 Starlight & Drumtrax sample packs sound awesome, I love the 90's french house sound - it's great to see James do his music studio tour here. It's very interesting to see all the vintage gear James has, and how he explains the older gear can give sounds a special tone that you simply can't get anywhere else (like those Akai samplers). This vintage hardware is almost impossible to get now days, so it's great to see guys like James (and others) put out these amazing sample packs that music producers can use in modern DAWs to leverage this amazing vintage sound.

    This kind of high-nerdery is magnificent. With these new quality of life upgrades, I have a feeling that the values of these old samplers are about to go up substantially over the coming years. Akai S950s and Akai S612s already gone up a lot. But, I've always thought the souped up E-mu models (e64, 6400s etc...) were undervalued, given the quality of (Dave Rossums?) filter models.

    Tone/character and harmonic uniqueness is primary in a tune, modulation and composition are secondary. So what James is doing here is to create TONE UNIQUENESS, same do Junkie XL, Hans Zimmer, Joad Nevo, BT and all the seasoned PRO they all focus on the TONE, while amatorials (with great EGO to show their knowledge on @rooting LFOs”) focus on modulation and notation thus their tracks sound boring cliché.
    IS ALL ABOUT THE SOUND UNIQUENESS FOLKS IS ALL ABOUT THE FUNDAMENTAL TONE/HARMONICS if you don’t nail and bring something new to the table no body will care about your chord progression 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @pdm67
      @pdm67 18 дней назад

      Whilst I love the sound design part of production, composition, arrangement and performance are what’s most important and what in the end you get paid for. So many great tracks use identifiable presets and acoustic and electric sounds that are not in themselves unique. It’s how it’s all put together that counts.

    • @Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND
      @Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND 18 дней назад +1

      @ we agree to disagree, all the biggest hits that revolutionised music and all the bands/artists that break through it happened because they brought a unique sound in that time (just study history of music) also it is prove scientifically that we humans recognise a track by it’s tone distinctive not the notation (in the mist fundamental particle everything become a sinewave so we could say existence start from a “BONG”).
      What you are talking about is functional commercial music (aka Product) which is OK but i am talking about something different more meaningful i am talking about bringing something new to the table and it comes only if you have a great taste on selecting unique unheard sounds, we already know all the arrangements and chord progressions “now tell me something unique as audience don’t care about your playing skills they want something that can touch their soul” 🤷🏼‍♂️
      tho what i mean by sound design is what James is doing redesigning the fundamental TONE / HARMONIC, not the modulation what 90% of synthesis consider sound design, modulation as the name suggest is adding movement to the tone but not crafting the fundamental tone/harmonics

      @@Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND What a load of bollocks. That would mean ALL of the classical music over the past 400 (!!!) years is all bullshit because they use the same instruments and instrumentation. Also if you are going to be a know it all douche with "the truth" mentioning "proven science", make sure you then LINK to that "proven science". Hell, a flat earther also believes in "proven science".
