They never really explained why he was evil as far as I'm aware and it wasn't naruto because the real naruto was welcomed warmly into the fake minato and kushina's home so menma couldn't have been naruto going rogue in that world and it was more like that worlds sasuke who happened to look like a cross between naruto and sasuke and even had the sharingan. I think it was actually even supposed to be the obito of that world but its been forever since I watched it...
