    Reusing old gaskets.... Seriously? The copper crush washer from coolant temperature sensor that stayed on the old coolant manifold. Also has to be new. Although the instructions are pretty good, they should have at least included gaskets in the kit. Good luck reusing petrified gaskets on an "09 Tundra. Every manufacturer recommends replacing gaskets with new ones after removing.

      You can use new gaskets if you want. However, since those rubber gaskets were meant to last the life of the engine and beyond, nothing wrong with reusing them if they're still in good condition.

    • @serenacp9052
      @serenacp9052 4 года назад +5

      I'm a certified Toyota tech. There is no such thing as lifetime rubber gasket my friend. Please read the repair manual. You don’t junk the car if it needs an intake or a valve cover gasket which dry rot and crack after the warranty expires and especially if you remove the sealed components.

    • @dwightstewart7181

      @@serenacp9052 .. Okay, thought I was talking to intelligent thinking individuals here. To be more specific, the lifetime of the service interval. There is nothing wrong in reusing a perfectly working rubber ring. However, as I said, your choice. Replace it if you want or it has degraded enough to obviously need changing.

    • @serenacp9052
      @serenacp9052 4 года назад +4

      @@dwightstewart7181 I have not offended you in any way have I? Let me just explain my point one last time. Being a factory technician I go by what the factory engineers recommend, just because I do not want to take risks of vehicles coming back with leaks, which believe me happens quite a lot. While there is nothing wrong in reusing gaskets on a 1-3 year old vehicles it would be unintelligent to take chances on the older ones. Crush washers are designed to only be used once. If they are putting a product out on the market they should have included the gaskets in the kit, especially if it goes on the vehicle that’s more than 10 years old. That’s my opinion that I wanted to state. Now You can use whatever you like on your personal car sir, but I’m being a certified professional will use my experience and repair manual recommendations as a guide. Thank you.

      Every time and regretting it while realizing your 7k out.. Then you get it going after favors from friends, check engine light is on and its half what you thought. $500 later from a shop it runs great, the power is unreal, 300 miles later it throws the belt, then 50 miles later it throws another $100 belt... Then your tires are gone, trans is slipping and your late on your C.card payment. Sell the truck loose your ass but it was fun for that 300 miles!! My luck anyway.

    • @firetigerrapala1592
      @firetigerrapala1592 6 лет назад +4

      Directly from the manufacturer's warranty page. They word it in a way that you think the warranty covers you for 3 years after you install the supercharger. In fact, the warranty is only covered for the first 36K miles driven on your vehicle. This effectively says that if you have 35K miles on your vehicle when you install the supercharger, you will get a 36K mile warranty, but you already used 35K of it right off the bat and your warranty is now only good for 1000 more miles. Make sure you read the part where it says the warranty period starts from the "in-service" date of your vehicle" and "mileage will be measured from ZERO." The warranty is GARBAGE. You are gambling with your engine on this purchase. On a Toyota Tundra, the motor would just barely have been broken in at 36K miles. It's not false advertising, but is definitely intended to MISLEAD the customer.
      WARRANTY TERM
      The contract term shall be for 36 months/36,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The term of months shall be counted from the vehicle’s original in-service dates. In order to determine the in-service date for your vehicle, you may: request it from a new car dealer for your make of vehicle, order a CarFax report, or call (805) 642-8833 and request the date for a fee of $9. Mileage shall be measured from ZERO (0).

    May I ask a question. I have a 2010 Tundra 4x4 crewmax limited flex fuel. If I install this supercharger on my truck will it increase my towing capacity? The manual shows the towing capacity of my truck with the tow package is 10,100 lbs. I have a travel trailer with a loaded weight of 10,500 lbs. If I use a weight distribution hitch with sway control will the tundra be able to safely tow my trailer? This may be cheaper than buying a new 3/4 ton truck.

      Apparently, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. The aftermarket industry average is about $100 per horsepower. Take the K&N intake for example (I'm just using them as an example. I don't endorse or use them myself). About $350 for an average of 3HP gain depending on your application.
      Apply that to the supercharger numbers. Gain of 180HP or more at the wheels for $7000 plus about $1500 for installation = a total cost of $8500. $8500 divided by 180HP = $47 per HP. On that note, it's a bargain compared to industry average. Less than half the price per HP versus the industry average. And that's AT THE WHEELS!!!
      Clueless.

Just had to pull the supercharger to replace a knock sensor wire harness that mice chewed through (very common on the 2nd Gen Tundras because it's the perfect place for mice to hand out and build nests, stupid of Toyota to build it that way). Make sure to have the correct flex head 12mm offset wrench or you might get stuck.
