+PAmining i have a quick question it may be stupid but how dose the bucket on that machine open. i don't see any rams connected to it and it dosen't seem to to have a solid connection with the main dipper.

The original Cat 5000 serious was a pretty sloppy layout, IMO. The new Cats are laid out nice, but that's also because their O&K design. Komatsu defiantly has a more operator friendly layout. Thanks!
It's a shame I can not work with a machine of these dimensions. Here in Norway there are very few. thanks mate for put this great vedeo and explain cheers
Thanks for the video. It amazes me how much it takes to make this machine run but it has one very basic function, to dig. What where the 2 things hanging down on either side behind the boom? I have seen those things on other machines but have no idea what they are used for.
+Mariusdubose That depends on the mine and what kind of production targets the job has. This machine runs on a 24/7 schedule with a single 8 hour inspection day once a week

They're inside the bucket. The one on the left can be clearly seen at the 2:13 minutes mark.

You would think they would put guarding around the track motors. At the cost the machine I would expect that Even poclain does that.

+lidsman2221 Those are plastic cones. The purpose of them is so truck drivers can have a visual to help back and line up under the shovel bucket.

I like how after spending millions on this machine you get a heated seat but you get basic switches and gauges you see in equipment from the 70's haha
you gotta get a gopro camera and put it on your head when operating some of the machines in the mine.

Ah HAH! The guys that did our drilling had Furakawa drills and they were more of a ziz than a squawk.

No, mine maintenance usually does not have an engineer on staff. Just mechanics
