I used to share your video with my friends in dancing class here in Hong Kong, esp during the lock down. They have found the videos helpful. Many thanks again.
As always thanks for sharing your Foxtrot knowledge and expertise on your website . You are the undisputed champion on the internet for Ballroom dancing .
I try and copy and understand each weeks video and practice almost every day for the week and then review a few other videos. Somehow I think I will be very busy with this great lesson!
It's illuminating to see how you handled my Slow Foxtrot wdsf technique book in less then one hour. Your are probably the worlds competent and inspiring initiator and teacher. Thank you, master Smagris! Grtz from Belgium.
This is a terrific presentation. Love that you show figures that can be danced prior and after demonstrated figures. Would like a RUclips video like this one in Quickstep and Tango.
This is a veeeeery good and useful video!! Also the figures before or after the steps are very important, to see, how the figure is working in a combination. Thank you very much for all the time that you spend producing this video. I watched the most of your videos in the past years, and like them very much. The videos are very precise, and useful also for advanced dancers, because you always need basic. Is it possible to produce such videos also for the other standard dances?
Thanks for taking all of our ballroom on your shoulders! Very precious :) Only one question. Why is footwork for leaders in back feather different from that of followers' feather step?
Thank you for appreciating our videos! That’s an interesting question about the Back Feather. The book doesn’t explain why the Man’s footwork is TH T TH. However, I can think of two possible reasons: 1) Man maintains a more forward balance to have better control over the couple as a whole, 2) Man’s heels are much lower than the Lady’s.
Thank you so much for your great work. I am currently trying to teach me and my partner new figures and technique as dance schools are still closed here and your videos help so much. It is highly appreciated! And I hope as a lot of other commentators you can find the time to do other dances as well at some point :)
Thank you very much, it's a valuable resource, along with WDSF book. Visiting your youtube channel frequently. Keep up the excellent work, it is very helpful in sharing knowledge...
Yes, there are reverse figures and natural figures with heel turn on inside of turn, and without heel turn. In Reverse Turn Lady uses heel turn. In natural turn from closed position Lady uses heel turn.
Nice job. A very good summary for beginners and even for advance a great reminder of the figures. Maybe at 18:16 you might look again as after the Whisk it is not a Curved feather you dance but a Feather Ending?
I always admire your videos for their clarity and great demonstrations. This is a perfect update to your earlier syllabus videos. Since my partner and I have danced mostly "traditional" (i.e., WDO) style ballroom, can you shed light on some of the major differences between that and the more athletic WDSF style? I think that would make for an interesting video, even if you only touched on some of the highlights.
Thank you so much for sharing. Have a nice day everyone.
'One stop shopping' - all the figures in one place - very valuable! Thank you.
One 'like' is never enough. Really love EGILS' demonstrations. My heartfelt thanks!
My pleasure!

These are really great. Hope you can make same kind for the other dances in the future!

Thank you for this video, Egils!
Good lesson. If a couple demonstrate the steps, it will be much better.
Fantastisch!!! Thank you!

Tikai latviski, lūdzu!
So are there 2 ways to do a Reverse Turn and a Natural Turn? one with the heel turn (lady's part) and one without it?
Yes, there are reverse figures and natural figures with heel turn on inside of turn, and without heel turn. In Reverse Turn Lady uses heel turn. In natural turn from closed position Lady uses heel turn.
Thank you. But, if a routine has a Reverse Turn, how does one know which one it is to be? With heel turn or no heel turn?
Reverse Turn is with Lady’s heel turn. Man by his movement can lead Lady to close feet in second step.
Thank you
MERCI ! Thank you.
