They've been saying that for months now so don't hold your breath.
@GAME SMASHERS he died

That's why you don't take a family heirlooms past down from generations to a pawn shop
Nah he was paid more. Its a tv show its all staged.
Most “heirlooms” are worth nothing. They only show you the good ones
@@fabiankellquist4630 no they don’t. The payment they get is being on TV and meeting the cast stars. Look it up behind the scene and the wavier on the history channel website, plus they already getting paid for the item they brought in to sell when they write down and signed the contract on the history channel website if you want to be in the cast
“ customers/sellers on Pawn Stars aren't compensated for their 15 minutes of fame. In fact, just getting on Pawn Stars is a feat these days.”
That's what the script called for
You know something’s up if rick doesn’t want to bring in his expert
exactly! If I was the seller I would need the expert to see it first
@@CONTEMN_Topic it’s a pawn shop it’s the sellers fault for not doing his research
haha. 🤣
Exactly right . And if Rick was the upstanding business man he said he is he would call that gentleman back and gave him at least $8000.00 .
@@blueflower2565 yeah but these thinngs don't happen in shops and even outside very rarely lol
2:48 "I got power bills." "I got the same thing." Owned.
Not really since this is all scripted
@@Len1977gt It's not all scripted. There was a guy who came on the show who has a RUclips channel, and he tells everyone exactly what was fake and what not.
It's not the same thing. Rick owns like 2 shops
No, Rick wasn't "owned." The seller is taking 0 risk.
The difference being that Rick has all those things at home as well as his business, which was his point. He's assuming all risk there. Seller's biggest risk is just not getting a deal or selling way below market if he' hasn't done his due diligence, which is on him.
Durer was a man of immense talent to be able to perfectly center all of that from a billion handcarved lines. Composition and detail are immense.
“I’m probably only gonna get 7k” and I think “at auction it could bring in……20k-50k”😭😂
That small moment when Corey was proud of his old man was the best part of this vid.
Rick knew he’d pay more with the expert
IKR
HAHA dude i didnt even think of that, no i rewatch "busy with his new art gallery"
or it coulda been fake
To be fair if you go to a pawn shop they are straight going to bend you over.
YES!!!
Homeboy got fleeced 😅😅
“I want $2k for it”
I’ll give you $5k
“Alright $5,500. Tough negotiators”
Lol what?
Umm it was valued at 40k sold for 21k and he wanted 6000 but couldn't past 5500, so it makes perfect sense
@@user-yz6qu2jr9g lol no it doesn’t, he was just trying to extract more money with 0 knowledge
@@user-yz6qu2jr9g - Dude started at $2000. If he thought it was worth $6000 or $40,000, why start at $2000? Trust me, when he walked out of there, he thought he got the best of Rick.
Actually that guy trying to be sarcastic with rick but i hope that saw this full episode later. An wondering who was the fool.
@@user-yz6qu2jr9g UM, he had no clue as to its value.
Obviously Rick knows what he's doing, but the seller is culpable for not doing more research himself.
People should only use Pawn Stars for information on the item and when they find out what it's worth, leave with the item and sell it yourself, people who take Rick's lowball offer must really need the cash.

@@leestreet1627 pawn shops need to make money when they buy stuff... so they always pay like 30-60% of the value of the item when they buy...
If anyone wants to sell their item at retail value, don't go to a pawn shop, or any shops...
that being said, it was a bit steep on Rick's side but that's usually what happens when you take an item to a pawn shop.
@@sorrycashonly5651 that's not saying anything. Pawn shops needs to be regulated and harshly
@@leestreet1627 regulated how? It’s a fair transaction between 2 parties for an agreed upon amount so I don’t know what there is left to regulate. Even if you did know this guy it’s ultimately on him for this because they are given months before shooting and this most likely got pre approval and the price was pre determined beforehand.
Old guy: Asks for $2000
Old guy: Walks out with $5500
Old guy: "Tough Negotiators 😠"
This is awesome art. I personally wouldn't mind hanging this on my wall. The gothic art is pretty impressive. The old man was playing hardball with Rick. This was a great deal for Rick buying this cheap. Between $20k to $50k.
This isn't "gothic art". This is Renaissance art.

"I got the same thing"... Awesome seller 😂
I bet Brett was in that shop 10 minutes later 😂👌
Lol he had his ear to the wall xD
When Rick doesn't bring in the expert, he knows he won't get jipped with his offer 🤭🤣🙄
The dude that sold this is crying after watching this
Okay, I now know that I'd be an absolute failure at running a pawn shop. I'd feel guilty and send the seller a check so I could sleep at night, lol. Guess I'll just keep on driving truck.
I thought the same, good heart bro!
Nah, you’d do fine. You can make a lot of money paying people a fair cash price for stuff and reselling it. Not as much as you can make sticking it to people, but more than enough for a healthy business and good money.
Man gets 3,500 on top of his asking price, responds with the remark that they are 'tough negotiators'
Can you imagine being the guy who sold watching the episode, lol!
The seller... "I got bills as well" What A Jack as, thinking his own personal bills are more important than Ricks! 😂
Once you said 6,000, I would have dropped back down to 2,000.
Same
Guarantee the seller through his TV out the window when he saw this episode
I love to see rick doing this always.
Wow that painting description/backstory is really interesting!
Rick sold this for $21,000 at auction
What auction? Cristies?
That’s pretty good
Sounds good to me
Not true
@@cincinatus90 yeah it is dude
Rick knew for sure this was at least a 20k item, can't blame him though.
Albrecht Durer is a fascinating artist. The Cleveland Museum of Art held a 'Medieval Monsters’ exhibit last year, which featured a number of Durer's woodcuts. Durer had impeccable technique and employed a style known as horror vacui, which is the dislike of unused space in a composition. I highly recommend seeking out his work if you're into this kind of thing.
I visited at St.Agnes museum in Prague they have many of his engravings
Pretty cool piece and might make so good money on it. Was fun to watch. Great video
Rick knew exactly what he was doing!
lol Larry King comes to mind "Las Vegas, NV, Rick on the line, HELLO!" 🤣🤣🤣Old man don't give a expletive haha. And RIP to King as well. Legend, in multiple fields..
I would hate dealing with customers like this
If Rick was dishonest, he'd never call an expert. Once in a while, the expert is unavailable....yes, it's true.
k
Good point
Rick trying to kind .😂😂😂😂
Ricks face always looks like hes about to sneeze
Just goes to show, never sell anything unless you have some idea of what it is worth.
don't worry that seller bought himself a lifetime supply of slim jims with the money
wow. amazing piece
Looking this episodes it's interesting to me how Correy respect and sensibility for his father is changing. From episode to episode. That is great! respect and Love to your father is more important thing in the world 💪💪💪
LMAO! Rick, my man, there ain't nothing Chum cannot break! 😂👍
I can see the excitement in Rick's face. Nice deal
I I wish I could see the seller's reaction hearing this appraisal lol . He asked for 2 and got 5500 and still complained l calling them tough negotiators lol
I hope the guy who sold it sees this.
He gonna write a Yelp review on the shop after
Same here, I'm glad he got screwed.
@@joewas2225 umm, why?
And why do you hope he sees this?
@@vforvendetta4382 The seller was agitating. Dude went in asking $2000, Rick assumed it was $7 grand so offered him $5 and he kept trying to get a steal as if he doesn't know how pawn shops work "if it's 7 give 6.5" "I got bills to pay too" like you don't go into a pawn shop trying to put your own problems on their franchise,it actually made sense for Rick to do it cause he was getting greedy.
Yes I know it's staged, but as with any show when someone agitates you, you want to see it come back at them, and here it did.
I think this was posted already
yeah it was in the compilation yesterday
It was several times
Deja vu. That's why it's spooky.
Yes,it is from season 5 as mentioned.
At least Rick offered to pay him more than $2000 with the $5000 offer. Rick did give the seller a piece of the bone, thats the most important thing.
nice video 👍
Excellent buy!!! Great job Rick
Gorgeous Art. 😍
That's prime example of why one should research well before selling their valuables...
when come to final price i just like their face impression such so legit and some low my heart rate big time, love the show as always
If that old man watched this episode he probably just had a stroke
There are lots of comments here suggesting the seller was careless or that Rick took advantage of him. The seller brought in a reproduction print worth around $100 at that time in a suitably inexpensive frame. He asked for $2,000. He never claimed that it was an original work of art. Rick talked it up as something valuable and gave the seller $5,500. That was generous and courageous of him.
Rick was on the right track when he said that copper plates are soft and wear down with use. The original plate was lost many centuries ago after producing the last faint impressions (see examples sold at Swann Auction Galleries on May 02, 2019, and Christie's on December 4, 2012). The printing is dark and heavy on the print in this video, even compared with the early impressions from Durer's plate. It lacks the subtlety of an original.
Rick was also on the right track when he identified the paper as from the 1700s or 1800s. It’s from the late 1800s. Corey raised a valid point when he suggested it must be fake because they never get masterworks in the shop.
The appraiser was clearly out of his area of expertise here. He referred to Durer’s original as an etching. Durer produced a few etchings, but this wasn’t one of them. Rick correctly referred to it as an engraving. In another episode, this appraiser referred to etchings by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo being worth tens of thousands of dollars. Neither Leonardo nor Michelangelo were known to produce any etchings, or any other kind of print. In the extremely unlikely event that one should ever be discovered, it will probably be in Las Vegas and will look distinctly unlike any of the artist's other work. I would expect it to go on sale for tens of millions, at least.
The appraiser points out the plate mark on this print, but this plate impression is beveled and outside of the image. The plate impressions on the originals are flat and located at the edge of the image. There is no basis for dating this impression to the 17th century. There are no known 17th century impressions of the original, and if there were, they would be very faint. There was no technology in the 17th century that could produce an accurate copy of an original such as this (although there are excellent early copies of some engravings with the image reversed).
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, various printing houses produced reproductions of Durer prints using a photographic technique they called heliogravure. The one in this video was printed from a plate produced by Charles Amand-Durand, usually referred to as Amand Durand. You can tell this is one of his by the mark that sticks out from the image border at the upper left where the ears of the upright horse are pointing. There is a close-up of this at 2:02. This mark is found on all the Amand Durand copies and on none of the originals or reproductions by other printers.
I have a bunch of these. I bought my first on EBay in 2013 for $79.99. They have generally gone up in price since then, but I was fortunate to find one on EBay for $73.96 in 2020. There is always some dealer trying to sell one for more than a thousand dollars. They rarely sell at those prices.
I don't know if this is true, but all these people claiming Rick got over on the seller... the possibility that this is true is making you look like a bunch of touchy, woke, fools.
@@TheRealWarez It is true. Watch the frame shop owner's assistant listening to her boss. The whole time she's muttering to herself, "This dude is so full of crap." It's written all over her face.
that old man had a hart tackle when he heard it was worth much more
Old Man: I will hunt you someday.
Imagine the sellers going to the experts first
I don’t know why they don’t
@@NotSure876 cus they expect to get a check being filmed
If the seller doesn't even know what they're selling id laugh when they try to ask for more money
Guy asks Rick...
Do you think this is an original.
Rick 😸
I've seen that print in books. Durer did silver plate engraving mostly, not copper. I found a pressing of a Durer engraving in a gallery for $1200 around 20 years ago, it was pressed in about 1810. I went back a couple days later to buy it and it was gone. :(
Very interesting artist and history :)

I had that printed on a band t-shirt.
I thought this was Larry King speaking before it showed the guy
That guy will be back in the shop the same day he sees this
What a
The seller sounded like an old retired mafia mobster...
More episodes with the art guy he’s cool
Corey was very happy hearing 20 gran to 50 gran. If I were Rick and Corey, I might chase the old man and give him a few more gran which he deserves for the wonderful piece he sold.
You know the word grand has the letter d right?
No way, Rick went above and beyond with his offer to the guy and he tried to get more and walked out of the place with a bad attitude.
The expert put him on blast at the end of the video...... 🤫 what a 🐍
I feel like I’ve seen this before in English class and there was a symbolism assignment with it.
That's such a nice picture fr. That guy is so wierd for NOT wanting to keep it on his wall
Actually Rick kinda bought it blindly but the old man was annoying lol , came for 2k and wanted like 6-7 and kept going
I know right it kinda bugged me when Rick offered him 5500 then said it was worth maybe 7000 and then the seller is like well in that case I want 6500 literally annoyed me
I love this artistic depiction of a Dark Souls game.
Once again, Rick decides to be honest and the jerk customer tries to take advantage. The guy had no idea of value and Rick's honesty in this case paid off!
Awsome
I'll bet a lot of viewers were disappointed when the expert said that it didn't have burr. haha. That made jaws drop.
Durer was a master
3:42 i take a look at my life and realise theres nothing left
I'd never go to a pawn shop first with something I feel is worth a lot.

Never be in a hurry to sell something that could be of great value.
