I just want to thank KEXP for posting performances like these on your RUclips page. Living in a small town in west Texas, your videos keep exposing me to new music and keeping me sane. Thank you so much!
I'm really starting to dig The Thermals. I know they've been grinding for a while, but these are some of the freshest sounding songs of this year. I love the rhythm section in this band...hell...the entire band is a rhythm section. And KEXP always makes the bands that do in-studios performances sound great. (nothing sounds better than a mic'd up drum set.) Troy is such a great interviewer. He always engages the bands in witty, funny banter; he seems to put them at ease. And he doesn't seem to ask the same hackneyed questions that most interviewers ask. Anyway, good stuff right here.
I saw them back in May with Summer Cannibals. I couldn't believe how tight The Thermals' live show was. It was unbelievable, a music miracle if I've ever seen one.
Saw them at the Soda Bar in San Diego with their added guitarist on their last show of their 2016 tour. It was incredible. They fed off the audience. Having her join the band was a real plus. It was peppier than this show but this is good. I love this band.
Nice music. very rich textured and refreshing. I thought the vocals was going to irritate me with his humorous tone and gabby lyrics but he never did and in fact I enjoyed them..but I'm here at the comment section to just finally admit I have a problem of falling marble eyed over light brown garls on sight. especially ones that have real talents..and quirky style looks..anything that stands out..pretty hair btw.. [sigh] I appreciate beauty in any hue, but this thing I have for the creme De la creme..I need to work on this...before it does me in. 😛 I know it's not just me but I feel alone anyway...[cringe] #colorstruck
What, are you talking about Kathy's looks? Who cares, she's a total badass bass player, one of my faves. Sure, the lines are relatively simple, but they are so forcefully delivered in absolute service to the song that I'm awestruck. Hutch's frothy guitar strumming works splendidly in large part to the way Kathy anchors the songs. Hair and skin tone are really irrelevant.
Oh, never mind, on re-reading I figured out you're smitten, not critical. I can dig it, but I've been so un-single for so many decades that the attraction doesn't much get past the "people are so beautiful" stage. She's got a new solo act post Thermals that's worth checking out: Roseblood. Recording so far has been all her, but the live outings include amazing drummer Janet Weiss from Sleater-Kinney and awesome bassist Maggie Vail from Bangs, so pay attention and don't miss the show if it comes anywhere near you. Kathy is crushworthy, but it's not just about how she looks, that woman's got talent.
Its a shame they not reunite, we need this music for F sake..................
That would be awesome..
stanning Kathy forever.

Fuck that. Enjoy your small town. Move to the city and then you have to deal with all the pretentious assholes.
