I get what you mean, but I must say, as all of these look like flower colors to me, I'm totally feeling the Spring vibe. I guess I'm not like most people. When I think Spring, I don't think pastel; I think vibrant flower colors. Because Spring is when all the flowers bloom and everything turns green. There's so much vibrancy and pop colors that I've always been surprised everything nail polish has only been pastels. I'm so glad someone did a jewel-tone/flower-tone set!
The more I look at it, the "springier" the colour story feels. It feels very...floral? Maybe I'll ask my mother-in-law who is a florist and see what flowers come to mind for her and when those flowers are in season 😂😂 but it feels like a bright, sunny bouquet to me!😊
For me the colors are perfect for spring! I live in a nordic country so my spring is more sun but still snow. Pastels and dusty colors don't vibe with that 😄 Shimmery, bright and cool colors though! Normally we're lucky if it doesn't snow at the end of April still 😅
I've always thought of bright colors as being spring/summer b/c of the flowers blooming! That fuchsia is spot on to the color my camellia is when it blooms in March.
For me, the more coats the more chance I'll get a dent in the mani before it finishes drying. So I love one coaters! I've been getting into crelly's recently which look better in 2 coats, but I think that's my limit (with base and top coats).
I just got these and haven't had a chance to wear them because I'm still working through the KBShimmer collection because I'm obsessed. I'm so happy you swatched these and I absolutely love that Zoya made a bold move with these. Thanks Kelli 💜
The new KB Shimmer collection is AH.Mazing. I could not stop turning the bottles around under a light. So sparkly. The new Cloud 9 collection by Polished For Days is also blowing my mind!
I really hope Zoya comes out with more colors in this finish! Would love to see a bright lime green/vibrant purple/lemony yellow... Also, is it just me, or is there a touch of holo in there?
I really like these Zoya in my opinion has really nice shimmers and metallics. I like them even more because they're not the usual pastel shades YAY! For me I can see Spring and Summer Fall and Winter. I feel they are versatile which is even better, and I feel everyone has their own shades and formulas they like for the seasons. I was on Zoya the other day and I noticed they changed their website layout...and I like it!!! After scrolling through some shades, I realized they had so many different polish types and I can see what the polish looks like better now and I couldn't before. So, FYI on that.!! Great swatches Kelli Thank You!!
These are gorgeous, I cant wait to get these, thankfully Zoya is now shipping to the UK! Cant wait to layer these over all sorts of colours :) even over themselves :) I think Marie layered over Kira could be a stunning periwinkle.
So many brands put out the same pastel cremes for Spring, who needs them? When I got Zoya's email about this collection, I let out a gasp of joy--in your layout, that top row seemed a perfect Spring palette, while the bottom row eases the way into Summer. I love this unique and creative take!
These are so pretty. Just saying your eye makeup is stunning. I will probably pick these up. I do agree that they do not look like a spring collection. It looks more fall to me as well.
I’m not exactly sure what the process is. But I’ve heard you can “checkout” books from the library with your Kindle. Definitely something worth checking in to. Kira and Yardley are both my favorites from this collection. I think I got really excited when I saw the stock photos. And saw no creams in sight. Don’t get me wrong I love a good cream. But you are right. It’s been a minute since we’ve seen a little spark. But man oh man I wish they’d figure out that brush situation. Especially from a company that does a recycling earth day thing. So much excess waste changing out brushes.
I’ve been interested to hear what you had to say about this collection. I like the sheer aspect of the polishes. I love my Kindle. Check out Libby! You can check out digital books at your library through them. Your lashes are fierce!
Libby is definitely my fave app to use for books! But it was hard to read them on my phone at night so I'm glad to have the kindle for that now lol 😅 thank you so much!!!
Thanks for another great swatch & review. Love the final collection shot. It’s so helpful. My favorites are Tink and Sipsey. ❤ I think you should talk about some of your favorite reads sometime on your vlog channel. I love to read too and I think we’d get some good book suggestions from others. 🤗
Talk with your local library, they may have an ebook program. Mine uses Libby and I love it. I usually never available to go to a library during business hours, so having the option of browsing books online at night has been very helpful.
We use Libby as well! But it was too hard to read books on my phone at night since it was hard to sleep so I'm excited to be able to read them on the kindle instead 😄
If you like urban fantasy there are so many amazing kindle unlimited authors! Hailey Edwards and KF Breene are great! I’m almost 100% an indie reader now.
I think it's the blue that makes me not get springy vibes from the collection - I associate spring with new life, and there just aren't a lot of royal blue living things. That being said, I think that if they adjusted the shade of blue, it could definitely feel springy! Like maybe the blue of a butterfly?
I skipped sipsey and yardley thinking they wouldn’t look good on my skin tone. But Zoya sent me a swatch palette and they were so pretty! Now I wish I had gotten them. I got the Z-Wide brushes for free.
Yeah, I do appreciate that they send along the wide brushes when you buy some but it seems totally random, sometimes it only comes with full collections and sometimes they will send them when you just buy a couple! It would be easier to understand if they explained on their website lol
I never thought I’d say it as I have over 200 of their polishes, but I’m kind of over Zoya. Too many colors require 3 coats and having to purchase the wide brushes is ridiculous 🤷🏼♀️ Lately all I want to wear is Orly.
I kind of like that these colors aren't what you'd think of as "traditional" spring colors - it's almost like they're saying it's OK for those of us who don't necessarily care about wearing polishes seasonally to wear whatever color we want, whenever we want. Any color can be a "spring" color - I like that. (I also think Marie and Terra in particular are super pretty, so there's that too!)
I recently ordered some of the magnetic polishes you reviewed from Starrly using your code haven't received them yet but am curious. I am a member of the Orly colorpass so I actually have more polish than one person needs & continue to purchase more as I see such pretty colors coming out. I actually ordered the color Bubbly bombshell 4 times without realizing lol I love purple so it's OK. I'm determined to build a polish tower I just have soo many & no where to store them Love your channel ❤
Sipsey and Yardly definitely look fall to me but they’re my favs they look so simple but shiny and that’s the shit for me. But yeah these feel more summer/fall type of color scheme even though they give that sheer effect Again, thanks for the review!
Wait doesn’t the kindle give off blue light ? Anyways as a longer nail person I’m not into a 3 coat to opacity polish for the most part - I find ZOYA formula a little watery or maybe it’s the brush - for similar money I prefer Orly which comes with the brush I like. Is it me or is Orly a little thicker than zoya?
Idk if anyone remembers those candy eggs they use to sell in big barrels back in the ‘70’s, I think they quit making them in the early 80’s. This colors remind me of those candy eggs! 😂
Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of polishes that have to be built up to full opacity. I'm sure you already know that you can have lirary ebooks sent to your Kindle. :) I now have three library cards, two here in Texas that are free, and one out of state that costs me something $50 for a year (I believe). Definitely check and see if there are other libraries in Nevada that provide library cards for free to all state residents.
@@KelliMarissa Yeah wait times can be so frustrating! Glad you are getting to read a lot though that is such a great way to relax for me. Just wanted you to know that I picked up some of the ORLY colors that you reviewed recently and I am loving them. I always appreciate your honest reviews, it really helps me make good choices when I'm spending that hard earned money!
wait... i always thought the kindle would be like looking at a giant screen/phone, so i never got one even though i would like to read and have books with me on there all at once without also having to wait for the library! youre telling me it ISNT like a phone screen??
In extremely low lighting situations it still looks like a screen, but for the most part it weirdly looks like a piece of paper! Hard to explain but it's super cool!!
At first glance it looks a lot like the Orly spring collection. I feel like if they'd made it out in time for Valentine's Day it would feel more "spring".
I hate the extra charge for wanting a wider brush… it’s the same for cirque colors now, why is it the wide brush lovers that have to pay extra to get their preferred brushes and not the skinny brush lovers 😢
Those skinny brushes always put me off buying Zoya. I refuse to pay extra for another brush, mainly because I can't afford it. It's a shame because they do some nice colours.
Maybe if they win their lawsuit they’ll have the money to switch to the wide brush. Sorry Kelly, but I can’t back a brand that conducts themselves the way they do. Just my opinion. You know I’m behind you 💯 no matter what you’re reviewing!
I love your swatching videos, but for me personally I won’t be supporting Zoya anymore. I thinks it’s really petty of them for suing Lights Lacquer for naming polishes after very common women’s names. I also think it’s gross to trademark very common women’s names for polishes.
Totally understandable! I am not quite sure my thoughts on it yet; I agree it's not the best decision to trademark common names but if they are trademarked I understand wanting to not let other nail polish brands use them for their own polishes. And since LL is somewhat controversial, I can see them wanting to separate their brand from them.
They sued Julep as well. However, that's business. I get that people don't like it, but this is how capitalism works. They have the precedent, so they can sue, even if it's just over women's names. Technically, they have to try to protect their assets. However them trying to drag Kathleen's racism scandal in as evidence was petty and really made them look HORRIBLE. So I can totally understand why you wouldn't want to purchase from them anymore. There's way more pretty and unique brands out there anyway!
Whether or not you agree with trademarking women’s names for polish, the fact is that it is well within the law, and is done across many product lines, not just nail polish. If you were truly bored, you could research how just how many companies trademark women’s names for products, but trust me, there are plenty. If a company doesn’t defend a trademark it registered, they can not only lose that trademark, but endanger their other trademarks as well. It isn’t petty, it’s a business requirement. I think the nail polish community isn’t well informed on how intellectual property law works, and that’s why some people are up in arms about it, but to be fair, most of the public isn’t, and doesn’t usually need to be. I wasn’t aware that Zoya mentioned anything about LL’s drama in the lawsuit, but while I find it irrelevant, it’s a common tactic for attorneys to add in non-related information they think might sway a reader.
For those of you who don't know, Zoya, a large mainstream nail polish brand, went out of their way to sue an independent family owned nail polish brand started by youtuber Kathleenlights (Lights Lacquer) for using common names such as Mia, Lucy, and Julia as polish names. Zoya owns these names in the nail polish space and claimed they suffered damages due to Lights Lacquer using these common female names. Lights Lacquer was sent a cease and desist, and they settled out of court. Lights Lacquer now renamed all of their shades that used common female names. Many of these names were for key figures in Kathleen's life: mom, niece, friends and family. I think this is pretty despicable and I don't plan on supporting a larger mainstream brand who wants to bully smaller brands with frivolous lawsuits. I wanted to let everybody know who might not know already. Please do as you wish with this info, and feel free to look into this more deeply. Jen Luvs Reviews did a great video on this.
Zoya is a bully that has actually sued multiple brands alleging trademark infringement for using women's names as polish names. But here's the thing - you... Can't actually trademark that concept. That's not how trademarks work Their suits are meritless but they get small brands to settle because court cases are expensive.
I get what you mean, but I must say, as all of these look like flower colors to me, I'm totally feeling the Spring vibe. I guess I'm not like most people. I wanted to let everybody know who might not know already. Please do as you wish with this info, and feel free to look into this more deeply. Jen Luvs Reviews did a great video on this.
Worst Spring collection ever,
I am not a fan of the finishes 🥲
Haha fair enough!
Zoya is a bully that has actually sued multiple brands alleging trademark infringement for using women's names as polish names. But here's the thing - you... Can't actually trademark that concept. That's not how trademarks work Their suits are meritless but they get small brands to settle because court cases are expensive.
I haven't heard about them doing it to small brands but I have heard rumors regarding Lights Lacquer and Zoya. I'll look more into it!
