    The throttle settings have made a night and day difference flying and especially landing the F-18. I was always behind the aircraft, throwing the throttle around and trimming like a madman chasing that AOA. Now I'm making ham sandwiches on final. Thank you so much

    Have been working on my Main setup for years now which includes the TM Warthog J stick and throttle, Ch Rudder pedals, Cougar MFD's, both track IR or Tobie eye, 2 8" tablets for game glass, 3 34" ultra wide screens, 1 55" led screen, logitech 1000 watt surround, etc etc. Believe it or not it has hardly been used for DCS just due to the extensive configuring that needs to be nailed down. Have been using a simpler set up with one 27" screen, X52 Pro, Opentrack (Neuralnet) for flying and mission making etc. Actually glad I waited when it comes to the main cockpit setup because things have really been ironed out. Can now use the tablets as touch MFD's through gameglass, 3 monitor set up is simple now, not limited to number of devices so Cougar MFD's can be used for additional keybinds, only need one good Tobie eye profile. With these curves, graphic settings, excellent user profiles for both planes and head/eye tracking, ED's improvements (voip, graphics) I now possess all the tools to complete this daunting task. I subscribed..keep up the good work.

    I'm so excited....not only do these settings work great on jets, for refuelling, but for WWII aircraft throttles, buy also collective setting for helicopters. The same values without the "Slider" tick box enabled, also work great for rudder peddel settings. The difference it makes to Apache, Hind and especially the SA342 Gazzelle modules. They now all a dream to fly 😊
    Thank you for sharing Air Warfare group.❤

    Hey Juice, thanks for the tips. Have the same set up basically. Set up the throttles ( TM warthog) with same settings you provided. Tried it out last night. Very good settings. With regards to the TDC, I picked up the set of TM throttles with TDC sensor upgrade already installed ( got the throttles for around $125.00, second hand from a fellow dcs flyer I knew). The TDC settings for the horizontal and vertical work very well with the settings you provided.

    I've been using curves for main xy and TDC for a long time but never thought about using throttle curve.
    It makes sense, though. Once afterburner is on it doesn't really need much precision there, and the valuable travel range can be saved for the lower portion.

      Glad I could help! Just a question on your traffic pattern, did you defuel the aircraft a little bit down to like 40% or 30% to takeoff and then get in the pattern because that would be your realistic landing weight based on fuel load. When I was in the Air Force, one of the things our jets never did in the traffic patterns try to lay in with a full load of bombs and fuel. We have a few videos that cover traffic pattern in the Viper and the Strike Eagle that you can search on RUclips with the keyword warfare group pattern. Congratulations on joining the DCS team.

      The viper control stick is a whole new animal compared to real life. When it first came out, it did not move it all. The first Piper pilots flying it in testing said they didn’t like that and wanted some tactile feedback so they put a little bit of movement in the state. It’s still pressure sensitive, which is something that you can’t reproduce on most Thrustmaster sticks however, I have heard people using very small tolerances, so they only have to move a little bit from the center. But even then without a stop or guard to keep you from over controlling it, you can still push the stick past the limits. Does anybody know of a viper pressure sensitive force feedback stick? I’m not in the know on that one 😉

      This is similar to the naming of the F-16C. Some people don't know that the F-16C is called the Viper within it's community, but it's original designation was Fighting Falcon. The F-15E is not the "Eagle" which is designated for the F-15C, and the E-Model is the "Strike Eagle" officially, and the MUDHEN to those who affectionately are flying and maintaining it. It's been called other names as well...but this is a family show.

    Juice, you know if there's any way to adjust HSD TDC sensitivity alone, on F16? I've always run lower TDC saturation on my Orion 1 and now STECS for more precision, which works for FCR page, but they don't appear to work on the HSD page. Impossibly hard to put the cursor over a single datalink contact (for some reason it has to be super precise on HSD or it won't let you TMS down, unlike radar) when in the middle of a stressful situation

    I find this throttle curve good for AAR, and other things, with an F16 (with a TM Viper throttle), but.... it has really very little resolution left at the low throttle end (the right side of the curve is very steep),. That means it's twitchy at landing. I don't know about you, after years of IRL and virtual flying... I find throttle work is 75% of landing. That is, if you don't do the throttle adjustments correctly, you will be struggling with your stick -- chasing your speed & pitch constantly (particularly true doing IFR going down the desired glide slope). I find this curve makes it so that fine adjustments to reach the equilibrium of speed-pitch-trim for the desired descending slope difficult. A little bump, and too much or too little gas. Not that it's impossible, just difficult. F16 landing is particularly skill heavy, compared with other modern jets.. you must grease the landing, or else.... unlike an F18... just slam the thing on the deck and it's a good landing.

    • @AIRWARFAREGROUP
      @AIRWARFAREGROUP  Год назад

      You know what really is hard to gauge in DCS world is hell, a viper in Mill power without the brakes on level or downhill ground will push itself even in idle. Just like in my Cessna, I find myself always adjusting throttle, realistically in the three aircraft that I fly. Give her some adjustments and let us know how it goes.

    • @JonahTsai
      @JonahTsai Год назад

      My old throttle curve for Warthog works find for both AAR and landing for the TM Viper TQS too (I was using it to practice DME ARC at Guam in an F16). It's 0, 8, 15, 32, 56, 77, 87, 93, 96, 98, 100. It's a curve very opposite of the one you have. It has a very gentle slope on the right hand side (low throttle). The reason I have this curve is that the after burner point has to be fixed... and the AAR and landing must have very gentle slope because our hands just can't do very fine adjustments... we need to have large movements but little values change so we are able to make small "value adjustments." Since the AF point is fixed.. and when in AAR, the throttle position needed to get to 307 kt/hr is at around the mid-rage... thus the the low to mid-rage must have a gentle slope. And as to mid to AF range... who cares. It might as well be on and off, i.e. fight or no fight unless you care much about the speed adjustment precision at that range (no, I don't in a fighter). Ok... the last part is exaggerating, but it's not far from the truth. The old A-10, the analog version, has a throttle that actually had a bank of 10x screw-adjustable micro-switches and cams... so it's a 10-bit micro-switch formed mechanical digital throttle (genius!). There is really not much "resolutions" to go around for fine adjustments. Mine might be a bit too exaggerated on the right hand side's gentle slope... but it works (AAR is still a bit tricky but doable). I might change it to a bit steeper on the right hand side. Give it a try, and see how you like it.

      What real airplanes have you flown to compare it to, just curious? I get the same thing from my curves in dead zone for my controls to Dee compared to the Airplanes I have flown. So far, the settings have helped hundreds of people over the last two years. Hey whatever works for you is what I would go with for sure.

      @@AIRWARFAREGROUP I actually got to "fly" a plane once. A relative of mine owns an extremely lightweight, low power piston 2 seater. He let me steer the yoke for like 5 minutes. Of course, it is a very limited experience, but I personally had the feeling, that the movements of the yoke translated pretty much proportionally to the movements of the control surfaces (yoke pulled back 50% = elevators lifted by 50%, etc.) Curves might help with finer adjustments around the center, but to me it simply feels a bit off. I also don't use any headtracking curves, it is more intuitive to me when everything is linear.
