Nice vids btw but during combat its preferable to just dodge enemies by pressing A but you can use the B if the enemies use non dodge attack or attack you cant block.

@petrino, before this footage, I definitely laid down the law about spoilers, lol. I said I wanna experience the game the same way they did back then, like its coming out for the first time. As a new player, I feel I deserve to be able to have that experience.
The grey text in the dialogues is always additional, and often important information, from here it always goes back to golden text. The golden text always moves the dialogues forward and you can't go back to the grey text.
The informations in the grey text often opens up further possibilities.
And try not to run among people with a drawn sword - it affects their reactions.
The steel sword is for humans, wolves and bears. Silver is for monsters - if you change them, they have almost no effect.
I write it here as I see how you play it, it's possible that you already know these things, but a certainty is a certainty.
And you don't have to press the attacks button this way, when you hold the attack, Geralt starts doing pirouettes.

I beat it 4 times already, and the DLCs listened to Witcher audiobooks a few times while at work. It's a masterpiece all of it well except the Netflix show, which to me is doodoo
Sameee, i remember waiting for this game for so long, i got collectors edition from my dad as my ''late'' 15th birthday gift and till this day i cherish this game so much, at the age of almost 24. I'm polish and i definitely recommend anyone to check the polish version of the game (Geralt is amazing!). I'm so happy that till this day so many people get to enjoy this game, for the first time (and with basically no spoilers).

I done three play throughs years ago, never done that with a game ever. This makes me want to do a fourth!
I advice you to put the camera in combat in "by default" in the game setting to have a dezoom while fighting. It is 10 times more readable when fighting many ennemies. 👽
For the horse and exploration camera, take what you like the most. 💯
And to have money, think about taking the swords of the ennemies to sell them.

Monster components and plants don't add to your carry weight and it helps to pick up everything, you'll more than likely need it for crafting different oils or potions later.

Great start 30:00, sword, you stick em with the pointy end. Horses, you stay clear of the rear, or be at your peril. Love how you got kicked in the head so early. Priceless

Did you read the notice on the tree at that burned down village, it said all hanged men should be left hanging an it was signed by a general Rhosyn who probably burned down the village as well. When you later convinced the guy who was looking for his brother on the battlefield to take the Nilfgardian soldier in, did you notice his name was also Rhosyn? I guess 99.9% of the gamers did not notice this either but I spent 740 hours playing this game and looking for small details. It will not effect the game in any way but it seems you may have helped a war criminal get away with his crimes against humanity. That is so typical of this game: every time you think you are doing the right thing, it may be the wrong choice or have a horrible outcome. Nothing is simply black and white, it's all shades of gray like it would be in a real war-time situation. Gwent is a great game but has a steep learning curve. You should have passed at 56:56 , since he has no cards left he would be forced to pass as well and you would have won the second round. You could then play your 6 value card in the final round and again he would have been forced to pass since he has no cards left. That way you would have won the game. But you seem a quick learner so you will soon get the hang of it, glad you are enjoying the game. After White Orchard the game becomes truly open world but it is wise to stick to the main quest for a while. Have fun, I will be watching.

If you read everything on the notice board at the Bloody Baron's place you will find a note of a grief stricken father who's little girl called Bilberry recently died. Seems this dad has lost the will to live and is attempting suicide by witcher, guess he thinks it would make an honorable death. Love those small details, the game is full of it.

you should understand, that the witcher is based on a novel, and the game with all its cinematics are meant to conjure the feeling of reading a book, its not just for looking pretty and go and do whatever like skyrim, i start at death march but i play this war of mine often
Loved the first episode, going straight to the next! You're a real chad for going for the hardest difficulty right away!
Only 40 minutes into the video, so not sure if he does turn down the difficulty, but I love his resistance to it at first, a bit annoyed with the chatters who keep telling him to turn it down, must feel discouraging. Having that difficulty and then succeeding through trial and error is one of the best feelings in video games, and I feel works really well with the Witcher. As somebody who plays Skyrim on Legendary, I vibe with this a lot. Hope you stick with the difficulty, but either way loving the start to a new series!

You can import your old witcher 2 save into witcher 3 at the start or you can tell the game to to ask you questions that are based on choices you made in witcher 2 to effect how your game goes in witcher 3. Some of the decisions from witcher 2 effect things in witcher 3.
I always import my save from Witcher 2 because I didn't get rid of the tattoo, and the tattoo imports over to Witcher 3.🤣 I love it.
Ok, after watching this, I think I'm gonna stop watching this series and get the game for myself. I'm sold. I like how all the different boss fights have their own gimmicks to beat them and it's not just "hit them till they're dead". Of course, I'm still looking forward to seeing your playthrough after I've played it myself.
You'll love it. I think the stripped down magic forces you to be more tactical with it, instead of having an encyclopedia of spells to get lost in.
I'm absolutely baffled that people didn't tried this masterpiece of a game. Especially the Expansions are just KINO. They truly are work of a genius.
I think you will love the game. The Witcher 3 is probably my favorite game of all time. Personally I like to play on one of the harder difficulties, it reduces the amount you can "hit it until it dies" and "forces" you to actually read and learn about the monsters your hunting and use the correct Signs, potions, and oils. Obviously if you try hard enough you can still just hit everything until it dies, but they usually hit you till your dead first.
Honestly I find pad to compliment this game so much more but to each their own. I love watching people play this game!

Dodging is most reliable way to avaid damage in this game, you can also parry or stun enemies. However most monster attacks are unblockable.

Shield enemies should be blocked, most humans can be dodged or blocked and i think wolved can be paried.

You don't have to open the sign wheel to cast a sign. Instead, hold r2, and press B for quen, A for aard, X for axi, Y for yerden, and LT for igni.

You may figure this out soon (I am only like 45 minutes in) but for anyone who is going to play this for the first time the yellow choices in dialog progress the conversation and interaction, quest, ect. White options are typically lore, extra info, non critical info but surely worth it if you are going to a very full playthrough with lots of immersion. If they have a shop that will be marked with the shop icon, if you can play cards with them that will be marked with the cards icon (sometimes winning card games can unlock new options, quests, lore. If you invest into your axii skill (highly recommend) you will start to get options where you can basically Jedi mind trick the people you are talking to, which comes in handy but can also start fights.
It's my favourite game of all time, it's always great to see other people playing it for the first time. Just gotta remember to focus on the game, especially during important decisions! Some people in chat could spoiler the outcomes.

Just started this and aint that far in but i highly suggest using the quick signs option. It's super easy to get the hang of, and makes it so you dont need to keep going into that menu to select. Also, another tip, whike in the sign selection menu you can apply oils to your blade by holding down the right and left buttons on the cross thingy, as well as swap out potions and stuff by double tapping the up and down, saves you alot of time when it comes to that stuff!
its quite fascinating how much people just pick up this game for the first time sooo many years after release, i love the hype its getting again as it deserves, been playing it from day one after reading all the books and still do at least one run per month till this day cause its a masterpiece, changed to pc recently to try and play with different mods and its giving a whole new blast to it, hope you enjoy and are ready for the journey 🎉
I think K&M works well for Cyberpunk which is first person and has guns. Witcher gameplay is similar to Dark Souls, light and heavy strike, tools, dodge, block ans so on, much better with the gamepad. Death march is unforgiving in the first ten levels but the contetnt is easily outleveled and feels too easy midgame imho but you can raise it at any time, you just miss out on the achievement by starting easier.
I've played so many games but still..the witcher will always be #1 in my heart. They really made a masterpiece with witcher 3. The music, the dialogues, the sounds of the nature. This game really feel alive and it is pretty rare these days sadly. I wish you alot of fun playing it.❤

So many people are just discovering this game, almost 10 years later. It is great to see, it is an amazing game. In my opinion even 9 years later it still holds up against and even outshines most other games as far as graphics, gameplay, and story telling. You are in for a real treat my friend.

Dudeeee ive been trying to find a witcher playthrough to watch and this is the first pne ive been able to enjoy as much as playing it myself i love the way you commentate
Oh man the chat annoyed me at some points, like they don't understand its not easy to absorb every bit of information instantly and be able to apply it. One example at 2:21:17 , where some guy says it's on Ace for not reading the vulnerabilities but no one will understand it's importance after looking at it once. The same thing happened to me on my first play through, and I had a look at it again just to see and try it myself. That was a massive learning experience and taught me more than someone just telling me "You should look at what they are vulnerable to." Because I experienced the difference first hand.
It was a hard at some points to watch but that's to be expected. I probably also made the same mistakes at the same point in time (especially the noon-wraith one sticks out in my memory still years later) but now after the countless hours I improved and I have no doubt you will too. I know this is like a month late, but I'm excited to see you learn and improve. I'm not going to drop any tips because you have probably already learned them either through the chat or just by playing.
Edit: Oh man all the people yelling at you directly, instead of letting you struggle and then hint for you too double check the bestiary hurts my brain lol.
I often can't watch streamers because they spend half the time interacting with the chat and miss what's happening IN the game and get lost because they missed half the dialogue.

I know I'm late for this but if you played the witcher 1 you can use your save file from 1 until 3 and use the items from previous game. Using the previous save file can also affect some parts of the storyline since it is based on the narrative that you chose to the NPCS and to the important characters in the game.

Bro yeah there are some extremely tough fights in this game, but i struggled the most with the high level human warriors after a while.

Just little tip if you can say so. White dialog choices will invest more and yellow choices will go to the next part of the dialog. I love that somebody is starting this game now. I feel like this game has aged well.

If you want an ability in the perks the most op one is the gourmet whih allows passive healing on consumption of any eatable item for 20 minutes.. yes recovering health for over 20 minutes thats bonkers

I've been an Xbox player for 10 years and I have no idea how people play this game with controller, at least on the default binds. Having the same finger do attack and dodge is painful; and if you're not using claw grip then it's for looking around too. While on kbm it's all your different fingers for each action so it feels more responsive and much less clunky.
Btw, next to the tavern there are 3 cows that respawn after you kill them and meditate after. Great way to get some meat and milk in the beginning.
After 3 tries you will get a nice surprise from CDPR ❤

I played on PC and I actually preferred using the controller because it's a third person action RPG not a first person shooter. Some people are just purists and like controllers are stupid because they're not a mouse and keyboard even though they're better for some games. Especially third person action games where you aren't shooting everyone all the time with guns and platformers things like that.
Got me into playing Skyrim again haha. Now its Witcher 3. Witcher 3 is such a gorgeous game. You should give Dragon Age series a go too.

In my opinion Death march is the right difficulty for the game. The game is hard but never unfair and you lern how to use signs, oils and bombs.

Broo, you have to experience atleast one book of Sapkowski's, there are audiobooks with actors and background noice that help with immersion. You'r starting 20-50h journey, add another 40h with books to it. Have fun brother!

If you haven't been warned yet (no spoilers), there are some SERIOUSLY emotional scenes in this game. Just a heads up, for the live-playthrough aspect. They are kind of telegraphed, so you should likely have a bit of warning. There were a couple that I had to walk away from the game for a couple hours. Even after half a dozen playthroughs, the Onion Ninjas still seem to sneak into my room.
