    This was the best drive tour video that I've seen of Ketchikan. Been there twice on a cruise ship and did some shore tours but never went past Saxman going south and I don't think we've been to the north drive also. I really enjoyed it. Mahalo. As you can tell we're from Hawaii. We've been to the Saxman Heritage Totem Pole Center and walked through Creek St. and been to the Lumberjack show and bought a lot of souvenirs to bring back for family and friends.

    Thank you! I served on a USCG buoy tender from the fall of 1974 to the spring of 1976. Your video brought back a lot of good memories. Tatsuda's IGA was the only grocery store in Ketchikan at that time. Gas cost around 45 cents/ gallon. There was virtually no tourism during my time there. Thanks again! I appreciate it!

    Great video keep up the great work. As a local i have to say you did get Just a few things wrong. Its South and North Tongass Hwy not Avenue. And most salmon that makes it to your dinner plate comes from further north in Alaska like Bristol bay, Cook inlet, Prince William Sound and so on. Other then the pronunciation of a few places are off but we see that as just funny. If you want to see the Lunch Creek falls in Settlers Cove (the water fall at the end of the road on the north side of the island) I will be adding a new video of it in the next few days.

    • @ShamFam
      @ShamFam  2 года назад

      Oh yes Highway not Ave, lol. I was looking for Sasquatches on some of the trails, couldn't find any, but I know they are out there. We did visit the falls in Settlers Cove several times and enjoyed the trails at the cove as well.

    Hi! Did you bring your car with you or you rented? Thanks

    • @ShamFam
      @ShamFam  Год назад

      Hey Arthur, we rented a car from locals, not rental companies. Made connections while working there and we able to make some friends who let us rent their house & car at the same time. there are only a couple of actual rental "companies" on the island and they fill up fast and are a little pricey

    Is there a hospital with a maternity ward in Ketchikan?

    • @ShamFam
      @ShamFam  2 года назад +1

      Yes, there is only one hospital and one native clinic on the island. The hospital is PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center, I worked there while we lived in Ketchikan. It's a great hospital and it does have a Labor and Delivery unit. Women from nearby islands come there to have their babies!
