Great tutorial! Make sure you don't have spaces in your folder name, It will error out and tell you that "it cant find specified folder" just erase the spaces and run as Admin again.
Agreed. My brother just bought an HP Core in with what I think was Windows 11 - it insisted he had access to Internet and a front facing camera. Anyhow the darn thing has 4Gb RAM. Windows at rest takes at least 3Gb. I was looking to install more RAM but HP don't give the spec (number of slots). Ok run CPUz or other scanner. Won't run - not signed by Microsoft. I think i will buy him a Pi4 8GB. Probably cheaper then RAM for the laptop :-)
Cool video. I currently have a RazPi 4 2GB acting as my WiFi AP controller, but I'm tempted to get a second one (4GB Pi 4 or Pi400) to play with different ARM OSes like Windows 10/11 for ARM. It'd be ideal to have a working install of Windows 10 or 11 on a Pi-like device (the Pi400 is attractive to me because all I'd need is a mouse since it has a keyboard built-in) for me because when I travel to different anime conventions I attend having a small hotel room computer for my roommates and I to use would be great/convenient. I know right now it's really only meant for testing/tinkering, but by the time I get one and do this process it'll likely be more daily driver-able. I haven’t seen where they backtracked. I have a dual core i3 Skylake PC that has TPM 2.0. They will not support this chip. Windows 10 runs fine on it. I have an NVME SSD and 8 gigs of RAM.
@@ericg7490 No, they will definitely let you install it on a Skylake device. The processor restrictions are only for OEMs wanting to put W11 on their devices from the factory, from what I've heard.

On one hand it is amazing to see Windows running on a Pi at all, which was likely never really expected in the first place. So it is a pointer to the future. But the one thing that is so vital is the hardware acceleration that could make in viable for daily use. As long as that Achilles heel still exists then it is more of a demo than a practical proposition. It may however, inspire Microsoft to see untapped potential if is has the ability to see it.
Just to prevent, you cant chose a recent ISO file from the website you download the cmd prompt anymore because when you launch WOR, it tells you that you need a build that is at minimum the 19041 one and maximum the 25163 one. I decided to choose the same one in the video

Because it is totally different systems. PCs run X86 Architecture, the Raspberry Pi ARM Architecture. This means that Windows was compiled differently for that different architecture, and won't be looking for TPM, either, as a Raspberry Pi won't have it.
If you're thinking about getting a Raspberry Pi, I'd recommend the Raspberry Pi 3b, which is fundamentally the same, but with one less USB drive. Or even a Raspberry Pi Zero/w, which unfortunately requires micro-USB, but is otherwise powerful enough for daily use and most console emulation.
Thanks for sharing the video. I could install Windows 11 on 32 GB SD card. After the installation, about 3 GB space was left! And any updates to windows OS are terribly slow. So planning to install the OS on an SSD and try.

You mean a HAT... And it would be something I don't see happening. You would have a power draw needed for that HAT, but then, you need it to work with other HATs as well. Then there is making it work, and making it affordable. You also have to make sure it is possible with ARM architecture, as well. Then there is convincing people to buy a TPM HAT, and having Windows 11... A more logical alternative, would be to build an I/O board with TPM on it, for the Compute Module. But... why buy it? You have other, perfectly fine Operating Systems to choose from. And don't have such hassle. And TPM won't be on a fifth generation Raspberry Pi, as that would bump up the cost of the Pi, in money and space terms. So that would be out of the window, as well. (No pun intended. ) So, I don't think TPM is ever coming to a Raspberry Pi, unless someone can provide a convincing argument for it to happen?
i know on a tpyical desktop you can bypass that and install anyway using a win 10 installer and swapping the iso for the win 11 one, i assume simlar could be done here.

The ISO compiler for the newest edition of Windows 11 DOES NOT COME WITH A FILES FOLDER. it will generate an error saying files are missing. To remedy this i downloaded a stable windows 10 version with the folder and all the files needed and just copied the "files" folder to the newer windows 11 build and everything worked fine.
Your internet connection is very fast i my case it took more than 4 hours to download the ISO and around 40 minutes to flash the iso to an micro SD card

if you have the windows installed on an external SSD, could you insert a micro sd card into the pi's micro sd card slot and use it like you would on a normal pc
I took this a step further, and used my licensed copy of NTLite to strip the iso down of it's bloatware and drivers. Results: Performance was still utter shit.

Hi, why do I get a blue screen when I start windows?
I wonder if this would work with a Raspberry Pi 3b, as it's ridiculously similar to a Pi 4 as far as hardware, with a few minor exceptions. I would assume the answer would be "yes". But it's a question worth asking since the Pi 3 is significantly cheaper than a Pi 4.
It can run on some Snapdragon 845 devices. Because the overclocked version of the 845, the 850 is used on some computers. So there are some drivers available.

Ok, so here is my issue. When trying to run the ISO for Window professional shows in terminal window the first file starts downloading, then it says "The system cannot find the path specified. (Twice) Then "We have encountered an error while downloading files." Press any key to continue and it logs out of the Terminal window. I've tried several times and same error comes up. Left it till today and just tried and still same message as above. Opened Terminal as Administrator too.
Eta can you make a video of live windows os like old windows to go in which we can game....and can do our stuff without installing alongside linux or chrome os

There must be a ARM version of Microsoft Visual Studio where you could download the source code for the WIFI subsystem and compile the code to get the new WIFI driver.
if you get an error there are 2 things that can be fixed. 1. This windows file only needs to be downloaded with Microsoft EDGE in the downloads folder and Run must be selected as administrator. 2. windows security system must be off, defender must be off and windows firewall must be off . have fun 😉 installing
when i boot off sd card it cant see my keyboard and mouse and when i set it to boot off of usb even after updating firmware i get an INNACESSABLE BOOT DRIVE error

Just to Add, i copied the creating tool into a folder i named as WOR 1 and encountered problems, i renamed the folder to the same name as in the video and it worked, just incase anybody else encounters same issue

As of jan 8th 2022, I tried it on a raspberry pi4 B 2gb and although it loaded, ethernet didn't work and as a result I couldn't connect online no matter what I tried. (tried both with overclocking and without) Somehow it didn't recognize ethernet port. Then I tried the same procedure but used Windows(Final Vrsion) & Feature update to Windows 10, version 21H2 [arm64] and no overclocking, although it took a few hours It finally worked perfectly.
Thank you for very helpful description My Pi us only 2Gb but the install was succesful at first ; using M.2 drive in USB3 enclosure; and RJ11 on Pi for ethernet; Win 11 seemed to function corectly but slowly; as expected with 2Gb I had Utube music video with audio from Pi 3.5mm connector; BUT ; next time i restarted it would not recognise network and only got as far as setting country and keyboard choice; this continues every time i try starting;; I can get command line and using windows/X i can access some settings but i dont know what is needed to make network active again. hoping somebody can advise Bill in Ireland

go into boot maintenance settings in the uefi menu (esc after turning on the pi) and go to delete boot options and select pxe ipv4, pxe ipv6. that should help it
Had a problem. While installing an error appeared saying pi4 could not access ext hard disk and I should use DL-DTR. Do you know what this is and how to use it.

Microsoft are now supporting older CPUs. Still requires TPM / Secure Boot
The Pi doesn't have either. Seems like x86 is now a second-class citizen to Microsoft.

Yes, I do prefer to see out of the box experience first, and then he can do whatever hacks/overcocking to push it to the limit.
Can you do another video please for the same thing. Errors every time I run as admin the "creatingiso" part.

I think ETA has a Gigabit Fiber connection, which explains the speed
What did you use to flash, im using the same program than eta prime but its at 13% 1:30 hours later with a good Sandisk microsd

Just to Add, i copied the creating tool into a folder i named as WOR 1 and encountered problems, i renamed the folder to the same name as in the video and it worked, just incase anybody else encounters same issue

As of jan 8th 2022, I tried it on a raspberry pi4 B 2gb and although it loaded, ethernet didn't work and as a result I couldn't connect online no matter what I tried. (tried both with overclocking and without) Somehow it didn't recognize ethernet port. Then I tried the same procedure but used Windows(Final Vrsion) & Feature update to Windows 10, version 21H2 [arm64] and no overclocking, although it took a few hours It finally worked perfectly.

My Pi us only 2Gb but the install was succesful at first ; using M.2 drive in USB3 enclosure; and RJ11 on Pi for ethernet; Win 11 seemed to function corectly but slowly; as expected with 2Gb
I had Utube music video with audio from Pi 3.5mm connector;
BUT ; next time i restarted it would not recognise network and only got as far as setting country and keyboard choice; this continues every time i try starting;;
I can get command line and using windows/X i can access some settings but i dont know what is needed to make network active again. hoping somebody can advise

hi ETA can't get the .cmd line to run, windows blocks it and then i tell it to run anyway and the screen disappears and then nothing happens don't even get the terminal screen.

Hi, I have a doubt. If we are using Windows 10 on PC, then we build a new PC with different configuration but old PC hdd with Windows 10. Do I need to format the old Windows 10 hdd and need to install windows 10 again?
Hi, I have an answer. We should always format, and do a clean install. It might work otherwise, but why risk incompatibility?

go into boot maintenance settings in the uefi menu (esc after turning on the pi) and go to delete boot options and select pxe ipv4, pxe ipv6. that should help it

The site where you got the iso was taken off Wor. Also, windows defender attempts to block it from running. Is it nefarious?
Tried it on a MicroCenter 64GB usb3.0 and it was failing to get past the initial boot screen. Went to a SanDisk Ultra 128 and it booted just fine.

Had a problem. While installing an error appeared saying pi4 could not access ext hard disk and I should use DL-DTR. Do you know what this is and how to use it.
