4:26 is the "Novi Avion" (lit. New Airplane") - the name of the late 80s program to design and build a Yugoslav 4th gen. multirole fighter. The plane never left the drawing board before being cancelled by the breakup of the country (save for a few components such as the cockpit canopy).
Huh, I did knew that Novi Avion was never finished but didn't knew there were some components of it that were made. Where are those said components now? Are they in a museum?
@@kampfpanzerleopard346 the cockpit wasn’t an actual component but a mockup, the novi avion was less along than the vihor. However a lot of the Novi Avion’s components were to be sourced from France and the French heavily influenced the design and as such a lot of the plane shares components and heritage with the rafale. The most interesting component however was the engine, they hadn’t settled for one but it’s likely they were deciding between the P&W PW1120 which was meant for the Lavi and Super Phantom or the single engine version of the Snecma M88. Honestly the three prototype planes in this game from the DLC nations (the Lavi, Atlas Carver and Novi Avion) as well as the Rafale all share heritage from the same design, the Mirage 3. The Lavi was influenced by the Kfir which itself was a version of the Mirage 5 which was a derivative of the Mirage 3. Lavi engineers would then go on to work on the Atlas Carver program after the Lavi program shut down, and the Carver was influenced by the Atlas Cheetah which was a licensed version of the Mirage 3 as well as being influenced by the Mirage 2000. The Rafale was influenced by the Mirage 2000 which was influenced by the Mirage 3 and the Rafale would go on to influence the Novi Avion. It’s just kinda insane how many designs share the same heritage.
In the movie patton they were also using M41s. The whole movie is a pretty critical satire and investigation but it is a bit distracting with the materiel.
