- To celebrate Easter, we grew an Easter Tree!! The reptiles each chose out their eggs and discovered what was inside each one. And then Haui the tegu ruined it...

They're actually a tradition in some European countries. They look darn similar to this one, too, except the eggs don't usually open.

I mean this in the most complimentary way: an "Easter tree" full of dead rodents and chicks is like a Nightmare Before Christmas version of Easter. 🤣

Right?? Even as a 27 year old my inner child is tickled pink 🥰 brings me right back! Easter was always one of my favorite holidays… I wish there were egg hunts for adults 😭 I would do one for myself but I don’t have a yard! I think it’d be HILARIOUS to fill the eggs with more… adult items lol

as I was reading this, I glanced at something else, and my brain read Cocker Spaniel- in place of cockroach... that sure made me double take, Then I had a nice giggle.

As someone who works with raptors, frozen thawed day old chicks from the egg/chicken industry are the frozen thawed mice of the falconry world. It sucks that it has to happen, but there are a lot of hungry birds of prey and other bird eating animals in captivity who need to eat! And it's best practice to remove the yolk, one of the things I saw flying everywhere when Howie ate! It's good for moulting birds because it has a lot of cholestoral, but overall it can be pretty fattening.
I suppose what I'm saying is I'm so desensitized to chick guts due to having to gut them for our raptors' health that it took me a moment to remember that most people do Not see that everyday, haha!!! Happy Easter to everyone that celebrates, and I'm glad that all the reptiles enjoyed their treats.
I was going to say the exact same thing! I work with raptors as well and was like "oh a chick, neat" and then got the reminder that most people don't see that every day with how they responded XD It was a good laugh
Most brutal feeding I have ever seen whas the kookabura's at my local zoo. I knew about their feeding habits so wasn't too shocked (also desentised because off having done disections) but some off the other visitors were absolutely horrified especially the ones with younger children.
I used to work in a zoo and every meal had to hit a certain weight. Requires some gnarly animal dissections to meet the requirements
@@AVDB95 as a person who had to feed a baby mouse to a pixie frog I understand that animals eat other animals that’s the way it works and if they didn’t eat other Animals they would die I know I’m equating apples or oranges in terms of experience but people need to realize that nature is brutal vicious and cruel, it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows
I have a friend, we're both griffin /gryphon furries, and he has a red tailed hawk. We always joke that he's the only one with no the front half because the rest of us have cats, the butt half 😆
I love how Emily almost "accidentally" says wrinkles real name every time they show him in a video 😂😂😂 I feel bad for all the parents who will now be stuck having to grow Easter trees because of this video! I'm glad all my babies have paws!!! 😂 I know they have good intentions & this was an adorable & wholesome video! I'm in my early 30s & I love watching this channel because Emily & Ed just have such good energy! There's not many people who love animals as much as I do, but they're amongst those who do 😊 Their videos always brighten my day & make me smile.

Seeing how she was in a waay to small enclosure before you got her and she has had a very happy 10 years after, and that should be properly celebrated! @@kyrab7914 Not birthdaywise, its Rex's 10 year anniversary living with Em and Ed! :D I feel like 10 years in a stable home is a huuge celebratory occation! Me who are adopted and lived in an orphanage that mistreated me for the first 6 months of my life sure has celebrated being moved once, and that to a loving family. Many of my adopted sibblings and friends who has been in the system havent had that luck at all and been moved through alot of abuse and neglectful homes! I feel like a 10 year anniversary is freaking massive when it comes to the subject of rescue/adoption into a stable and loving home!
She went from living in a tiny cramped box that deformed her snout to now living happily in an exhibit being spoiled by her parents.
1:51 the fact that they know that some younger kids are watching and decide to pretend that you can actually plant jelly beans and they’ll grow into a Easter tree w/ lot off Easter eggs is so adorable❤

Is it? I mean they didn’t really say for kids to like not be bummed out if it doesn’t work or if it’s not as good at the Easter tree. And they’re kinda forcing parents to do a lot of work for their kids only to most likely still disappoint them since they probably have been able to make something as good at what they made.
Also if the kids think that this is actually real and that they can grow an Easter tree from jellybeans then they will most likely have gotten super scared from seeing the reptiles eat dead mice and a dead chick.
I'm glad we both agree that Starburst jellybeans are the superior ones

Given how difficult it can sometimes be to get the reptiles to enjoy their treats, milkshake and sc-I mean wrinkles-both really understood the assignment right up front and immediately.
Oh geez, the Japanese rat snake is such a GORGEOUS green, great name for the color. So excited to see if you guys can successfully breed them- a new species may be about to win my heart 😍
Also that is such a GORGEOUS tree- definitely used the right jellybeans! I bet the key is in the mix, it's a beautiful cultivar.

I was binge watching some old Snake Discovery video - it is impressive to see the physical changes in Rex since you got her. Definitely thank to you two (and staff now). It would be interesting to put together a montage for example of when she could sit on your lap on the couch, her various swimming pools, radiographs to now that she has had several years in an enclosure with a deep pool.
