I’m a lifelong aviation lover.
I absolutely love flying and everything involving that experience.
But most airlines are total dogshit. Most employees of airlines shouldn’t be working at a landfill sorting trash (they are that incompetent or unfriendly)
But why is this?
In America we have certain demographics who fly in tank tops, and basketball shorts with flip-flops.
So the airlines are reflecting their customers.

How REFRESHING to see a major flight vlogger review an economy class product, a very rare occurrence nowadays. Am I the only one who finds economy class reviews infinitely more relevant to the 99% of the flying public? Business and First Class reviews are great and all, but having some glitzy trinket you can never afford constantly dangled in front of your face gets boring very fast.

Looks like an absolutely amazing experience Josh. I also like how Starlux treats their crew like actual humans and makes sure that they are well-rested between flights.
They probably changed the policy on layover in Singapore after Taiwan opens up further. When I flew with them in Oct 2022 as Taiwan starts to open up, the crews were deadheading to Singapore to operate the return flight or deadheading on return to Taipei after operating the flight to Singapore. The deadheading crews would be resting in the centre aft cabin which were cordoned off with curtain.
Given how few passengers there were on the flight, they were well-rested during it as well.

Looks like a great airline. Basically similar to Emirates around 15 years ago when it was a younger airline. They used to value customers sooo much. We used to get sent emirates letters and amenity kits to your door before the flight. It was so good
I wonder how a small Asian country like Taiwan, can support three Carriers.
I hope Starlux makes it. They are very deserving of success! It will be good to see them become part of an alliance and expand to Europe and other parts of N. America!
Eva Air Chairman was kicked out of Eva Air due to siblings fighting over inheritance and succession and hence started Starlux, he is the son of the founder of Eva Air and Evergreen group.

Singapore has 2 and it's a city-state.
They’ll definitely gonna be popular in the west soon. They also have efficient, eco friendly All-Airbus fleet which it already tells the airline will be a success!
I sat in these seats, and as a bigger person, I can tell you that one of the things I appreciate most is the amount of cushioning they have. On other airlines, my tush would start to feel sore approaching the 2-3 hr mark, but the Starlux economy seats are CHEF'S KISS.
In business on the A330, I really loved the way the seat was designed, too, because you could nest a pillow on the seat's sloped edge and really fall asleep! Love it
The CEO is part of the Evergreen Family, they own also EVA Air, where he was chairman. After his father, Chang Yung-Fa, died, the siblings got into a big argument over the inheritance and this is how Starlux started. Evergreen is the biggest conglomerate in Taiwan with the main business interest being its Container Shipping business.
And the CEO of Starlux just inherit 40% of Evergreen Group after the court ruling
And the CEO flew an Airbus A350-900 jet on Starkux's maiden flight from Taipei to Los Angeles himself this April. 🎉❤😊
Apparently he was the reason behind EVA Air’s success. Ever since he left due to inheritance dispute EVA Air service quality has gone down hill. I have also since switched over from EVA to Starlux, night and day difference!

Unfortunately the neo doesn’t get the merit it deserves, being a reliable working horse with an updated, nice and quiet cabin in a spacious 2-4-2 layout.
Yes, this can not be repeated enough: a Airbus 2-4-2 seating is way better than the 3-3-3 seating of Boeing.
For the San Fracisco - Taipei route, Starlux flys AIRBUS INDUSTRIE A350-900. The economy seats configuration is 3-3-3, as opposed to what is in this video albeit a different route so keep that in mind. The Economy Premium seats config is 2-4-2, at roughly twice the price. There you go.
Whenever I travel I keep a travel pack of Clorox wipes (for tray tables and armrests…and the occasional wine on the wall). I also keep a travel pack of hand wipes and a sandwich sized Ziploc (for trash).
This flight looked pretty decent. One day I’d love to travel to Singapore.

It’s all about little details and caring for your employees that can give any organization a giant leap over the others, sadly many major players have forgotten these basics and struggling the keep their nose above the water. It’s always been my dream to fly with this airline when they started operating during the pandemic. So when Taiwan opened in October, I immediately chose Starlux when I decided to visit Taipei. And boy it’s probably among my best decisions! The experience was really great. Free wifi, lovely food!! And of course, the drinks 😍 and when I was returning to KL, they even served their local Ice cream (which can also compete with international brands)
Looks fantastic, would love to see Starlux come to Australia some day.
It seems that Josh was joyful after his luxurious experience with the Starlux flight.
The interior is super designed with the nice color combo and it's a very decently planned seat comfort for its passengers.

Starlux is truly fantastic, on the same level as Qatar, Singapore and ANA in my experience, absolutely first tier no doubt. But with load factors like this, sadly they probably won’t be around for too long. I find their flights to be frequently under 70% full. 😢. Their earnings back up my prediction too, they constantly post huge quarterly losses each and every quarter. Fingers crossed they can turn it around, but it’s unlikely given their customer first strategy, without being a national airline with fundings from the government.
As far as I know the reason why Starlux exists was due to the inheritance dispute between the sons of the founder of EVA Air.
However, things seem back to normal with the sons because the Starlux founder now is the head of Uni Air (the regional Carrier of Eva Air), while ensuring his continued commitment with Starlux.
Apparently, Kuo Wei Chang was supposed to be the heir of Evergreen Group according to Chang Yung-Fa’s will. But family disputes happened and he was ousted out of Evergreen (the owners of EVA Air and that ship that blocked the Suez Canal) so he founded Starlux to fulfill the dreams and the will of his father. But it seems the family rivalry has somehow eased back as Kuo Wei Chang is back in Evergreen Group as the head of Uni Air.

Looks great- Economy Class seats you can actually sit comfortably in- although I'm not sure how it would be to be in the center of the four seat row when the plane is full. But what a great experience. Thanks for sharing it!

Glad you liked your experience. I think the cabin design is kinda fresh and different. I thought the seat back looked a bit more narrow than on other airlines, but maybe it just looked like that in the video. And wow, what a screen.

Starlux stock shares doubled so it is an airline people trust to invest in. It will also improve competition with CI and EVA, the latter having become WAY to expensive. Next time we fly home to Taiwan from Vietnam, surely going to book a Starlux flight to give it a try.
FYI : Starlux Airlines boss has significant shares in the EVA (3rd largest) and the EVAGREEN Group

thanks for another honest review! 👍was happy to learn about them (heard something but didn't realize they were that good, travelled on EVA last year and enjoyed every bit of it - starting to get convinced that Taiwan rules in terms of both hard and soft product) also great that you do economy reviews too - some youtubers are focusing too much on premium products lately (just my opinion)
Just came back going to and from Bangkok using Starlux Airlines from LAX. The most AMAZING basic economy experience I have EVER HAD! Smooth bag check in, stellar staff and service, delicious meal and drink service, a1 class entertainment with premium movies, music, and games to play. Time absolutely went by so fast during my journey and it was great!
I could not recommend this airline more and would highly suggest that you experience it before the price hikes and makes mainstream flight lists in the next 5-10 years!

Lovely airline Josh, as I'm a disabled passenger I always fly from the UK to Philippines with Singapore Airlines, which for me is the best in the world, but I'm impressed with StarLux and would definitely consider this when they fly on my routes. Great review as always.

Wow, that was simply fantastic. I just wanted a review of these kind of airlines. Wish they succeed. Surprisingly, you weren't able to find any flaw other than the dirt which is i think extremely rare and i don't remember when it last happened. Keep the work going and upload regularly. By the way, is this really the best economy class in your opinion? Are they really better than Singapore Airlines or Emirates? Also, they are the cheapest airline for a one way ticket on Singapore-Taipei, even cheaper than Scoot.

I have flown Starlux airlines before and i think it is one of the bets airlines i have ever flown on i also liked the how the screen is very easy to use and the little upper small tray table with a nice cup holder. I also flew from Singapore to Taipei and even had the same little snack you had at 8:19.
Biggest little fan here my 9 month old baby girl and I watch you thru out the day! Always great to see you have a good experience!

Flown several Australasian & Asian airlines, mostly in eco class. Lucky to have flown a few times in business (most recently CZ B787)...and from your video the Starlux eco class experience looks better than ALL those business class experiences I've had!

Quality & quantity inflight meal in economy class definitely better than SQ, MH, CX & other major airlines in Asia.
Starlux is quite an interesting airline, bucking the lowest denominator trend in the region. I've actually seen Cathay use those anti-slip trays quite many years ago. I recall it used to be a placemat that did the job but I think it's now part of their tray (I should've checked last night when I flew them).
