Dude, while I don't do dolls personally, I gotta say this: you're the Bob Ross of doll restoration. You're voice is as calming as a Reiki session; complete with candles and Zamfir playing in the background. Awesome!
and again I am amazed and also grateful the dyeing process on the head is something I want to try on a Mego Candi Doll and thanks again for an awesome video!!
I only recently discovered your channel and I am really enjoying it but this video in particular because this was the first barbie I ever owned. I had begged my mother to let me have a barbie and she finally agreed on the condition that I only play with her when my father was not around. And so began my lifelong relationship with Barbie. I don't have that Original standard Barbie any longer but it was so cool to see her again after so many years. Thank you so much.
Your work is wonderful. I was asked if I could make a Janet Jackson Barbie doll and thought of you. I sent this person your utube channel because your the man.
I love when you restore the Barbies from my childhood. I still have my first year twist and turn Barbie that looks just like this one but with darker hair. Fabulous job as always.
I'm not sure if it was you that recommended the Chartpak marker in pale rose, but I ordered one and used it on a Stacey's face that had pale green on her nose and cheek and it was like magic. The color was perfect, you would never know it was there. I'm sooo happy
May I suggest that you try cleaning pen and marker stains with rubbing alcohol? Most inks are created with an alcohol base so, scientifically speaking, rubbing alcohol should emulsify it. I've treated some of my own dolls that had old marker on the face. I covered the stain with a cotton pad dipped in rubbing alcohol and wrapped the area in plastic. Half a hour later the ink wiped right off. The good thing is that the alcohol won't react with the doll paint and if it doesn't remove the stain, it will wash off cleanly. Any residue evaporates leaving the vinyl clean and safe for what ever treatment you want to try next. (alcohol also works to get ink stains out of fabric)
Beautiful work! I love watching your videos. Going to try the vinyl dying. Do you do anything to protect the doll hair color and makeup when you use the Rit Dye bath for the heads? Thank you for your feedback.❤
The hair color is tricky. If they’re a light color they will most likely take on the pink. The dark ones don’t. Whereas for the makeup, you could try a few layers of cheap varnish, the water will soften it in the end and you can just peel it off, but it doesn’t always work
It's so relaxing watching you work. You do such a great job know matter the doll. Maybe you can tell me how to remove green ear without leaving white, lighter, spots where the green was?
That's a tough one, unfortunately sometimes it's either green or lighter spot 😅 you can't fully predict how the chemicals react. You can touch up the lighter spot with the Chartpak pale flesh marker, which is a very close match for mod era Barbies
Love your work! I have a mod era Barbie right now. The color in her face needs help. I am definitely going to try your Rit dye boiling idea. Thank you for this video.
Another well done job! I nearly flipped when I saw ritz dye, Wow, how great it worked! The standard Barbies are beautiful. I saw a few other heads in the pot, are they future works? For the stains on the arms, I have hope now, been working on a bubblecut that has deep stains using benzoyl, they are fading but slowly. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you :) Good eye! One of them is going to be in a video soon! Benzoyl Peroxide is still baffling to me, I'll put it on some dolls and the stain will be gone in a few days, but on others I can keep it on for months and still no progress haha
Luckily, I didn't have to do too much with the TNT I bought recently. Just wash her and comb her hair. I really like how her hair turned out. Mint, her flip hairstyle has way too much of a flip. Mine looks more natural like how my hair looks when I wear the flip hairstyle. She was cheaper then what a reproduction sells for.
Dear Doe Deer Wonderland, about one month ago now I bought s vintage doll case with 4 vintage Barbie’s and a lot of doll clothing in it, I was able to clean the clothes and the dolls great but I have a 1967 standard doll with the twist and turn outfit but she has a tough green stain on her face and I’m not sure how to fix her hair or touch up her makeup? Any tips? (Also I am willing to pay you to get her face fixed and the green away but I’d like to try myself first.)
What tool are you using for the lips? I am assuming you can use it for the fingernails and toenails as well? I have several of my own vintage Barbies I would like to touch up. Love your work! Thanks!
So pretty! Great job! She feels so much better after a spa treatment with you. What product did you use to remove the dark spots? I have some mold stains on a doll that I would like to remove.
I heard in the my little pony restoration community that a lot of people were moving away from benzoyl peroxide because some people experienced problems after some time. Instead people typically use the hydrogen peroxide cream in the form of hair developer and I haven’t heard of any long term negative effects from its use. All of these methods are relatively new so I guess we still have yet to see how these things will look over time but that’s what I’ve heard in my restoration research process. Hope that helps (and that the stories might be wrong)
From what I know it's always been a staple with doll restorers, even people who have been doing it for over 20 years never seemed to have any problems with it. From what I read the problem might lie in the unnatural colored vinyl which discolors faster? Idk not really an expert on toys outside of the fashion doll realm but yeah it hasn't given me or anyone I know any problems (yet) haha
Can I ask how do you fix discoloration on darker complexion doll?😭my dolls arm is yellowish I’m too scared to use bleach it I’m scared it might get lighter rather than going back to her dark complexion
That's a really great question actually... I think denture tablets might be your best bet because they don't actually bleach anything, but I'm also not sure they would do much on a yellowed doll? Sorry I couldn't be of more help on the matter 😭
@@DoeDeerWonderland she’s more a like a tanned brown color the doll I have is the fashion fever highlights teresa but her arms yellowish that’s why I’m scared to try the bleach and I will try the dentures tablet hopefully I can restore her 🤞🏻

P.s. nicotine is bad for you!!

I wonder if these vinyl ladies realize how lucky they are to be in your care 💫

Thank you ☺️

@@DoeDeerWonderland ROFL. Funny too. Triple threat methinks! LOLOLOL.
She’s so cute
Right? 🥺
so pretty
Thanks 💕
Incredible work! I'd never think acne cream would work on stains, the ideas of the doll restoration community are stellar.
Thanks! It truly is, so many talented artists coming up with so many solutions
She's gorgeous 🥰 My fav so far. Bravo!👏
Thank you so much!

It always warms my heart to hear about personal stories about Barbie! She must've been loved and treasured in her time, I'm sure 🥰
¡Te quedó hermosa! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Fantastic makeover. The TnT Barbie is one of my favorite sculpts
Thank you so much for the support! Really appreciate it ❤️
i loved this

Nice to see your work again
Thanks :)
The results looked nicer than the NRFB dolls! Bravo, again!!

Yay! Mods are my personal favorite and the one I collect the most of. You did an excellent job freshening her up.

That's a great tip for superficial staining removal, but the ink had seeped into the vinyl and needed something a bit stronger to get the stain out
I have a broke down Tammy box from the 1960's. Now I know how to fix it, thanks! What percentage of benzoyl peroxide cream is best to use, please?

@DoeDeerWonderland
The first step would be to use CLR to remove the green ear.
As for the paint touch up, use diluted acrylic paint on a thin brush :)
What tool are you using for the lips? I am assuming you can use it for the fingernails and toenails as well? I have several of my own vintage Barbies I would like to touch up. Love your work! Thanks!
If they're small enough sure! I use a 000 artist detail brush :)
By chance did the rit dye stain the whites of her eyes?
It did not!
So pretty! Great job! She feels so much better after a spa treatment with you. What product did you use to remove the dark spots? I have some mold stains on a doll that I would like to remove.
Acne cream with Benzoyl Peroxide :)
If that doesn't work, try Remove-Zit by Twin Pines. It does wonders on deep mold stains!

How much water did you use for the three spoons of dye? Also was it regular Rit dye or the synthetic Rit dye?
It was the synthetic one. 2 teaspoons each to 7 cups of water, you can then adjust the water if you need more pigment
@@DoeDeerWonderland thank you!!
@@DoeDeerWonderland and what were the two colors again?
Rose quartz and petal pink!

I didn't 😅 just in terms of editing I put it after the face as it made more sense
