- Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South East Asia (SEA) and I'm glad we got to visit it in April 2023! The 7 temples visited in sequence: Angkor, Ta Prohm, Pre Rup, Ta Som, Neak Poan, Preah Khan, Bayon.
Just a note - we didn't hire any guide, just a tuktuk driver who ferried us from one temple to the next. We paid a total of USD30 for this tuktuk service, and for the temples we covered in our chosen route.

To those who may be wondering, we took the Grand circuit route + Ta Phrom. Owing to that, our tuk tuk costs us $30usd (slightly above market rate). You guys may have better luck in finding a cheaper/ better quality tuk tuk
Be prepared for a toasty, lack of shelter, 38 deg day out visiting historical sites. A hat/ sunscreen/ water is a must. Some compared this to Petra (which has some similarities in terms of sprawling archi structures). 1 day is minimal, you can opt for a couple more days to ease out the walking.
I was surprised by the simplicity of Pre Rup, and was reminded of the Incan temples. The carvings/alleys at Preah Khan were intricate and the giant trees at Ta Phrom makes a good case for leaving nature be.
