Yes, the Mark IV is now up to 22 years old, which I can't quite believe, but anything before 2005 should be perfectly fine to be in the classic parking, in my opinion. I drove a pre-facelift 9N Polo on No Budget Reviews a couple of years ago. They are likely to be in No Budget Reviews territory for some time to come, I think.
One of the best parts so far for me Sir. Nostalgia heaven. I used to go to a running club as a young teenager and was dropped off home in a vw derby 2dr. And my neighbour had a silver samba cabriolet with speakers on the t bar. This show evokes so many memories for our generation. Excellent Sir🫡
Ayy I've been spotted. Me and my partner have the Activa and the red Twingo. Interestingly, the twingo has been a UK car all it's life. The original owner imported it from Belgium brand new
I simply love the Citroen Xantia Activa. It's been a dream of mine to try one for some years now. I couldn't believe it when I saw yours. I seem to remember that they were 2.0 Turbo or 3.0 V6 petrol only, but I could be completely wrong. Belgium or the Netherlands were popular choices for personal imports of all types in the 1990s, weren't they?
@lloydvehicleconsulting In LHD markets, the Activa was available with the 3.0 V6, the 2.0i Turbo CT, the 2.0 16 valve, and the 2.0 HDi. In RHD markets, we only got the 2.0i Turbo CT. I don't know much about imports 😅
That is the one, I couldn't remember quite what we got over here. Clearly much more popular in other markets than the UK! I gather the Activa's cornering ability is very impressive.
There is such a wide variety and that makes the show very interesting. It makes me wonder how spare parts availability can be addressed when buying a car. 9:23 The Fiat looks so much like a Russian car: or rather, Russian cars look like this. Fiat designed them as I recall. 11:57 Daimler Sovereign is my "exceptional" pick so far. 21:25 Rover 1.1. GSI. My cup of tea: those "Rovers" will always be Metros to me. 23:56 The Rover still appeals to me after all these years. 25:02 ....as does the Aston Martin DB7. What is good about this show is that it allows entry to cars like this that are a delightful contrast to the humbler brethren.
Yes sir, there were a lot of links between Fiat and Lada back in the day. The Daimler Sovereign and Aston Martin DB7 were extremely nice, weren't they?
@@lloydvehicleconsulting there are a couple of nice n13 on autotrader at the moment, a saloon and a coupe both 1.6 auto. I have been tempted but it wouldn't be practical enough for us.

1st 😁 Thank you for the upload , sir! Some great memories there, especially the MK2 Laguna. Thought they were very good looking cars and have not seen any, even at car shows, for years!
28:20 it is my ford escort mk3L 1.1L and it is quite a low speck but the person who ordered it from the factory did get some extras such as a clock on the dash and a small bit of “Crome” trim on in the interior
Thank you very much indeed for watching and commenting! Back in 2020, Mr Richardson from the Furiousdriving channel and I both drove the same 1985 Escort 1.3 L on the same day. It was interesting, but personally I prefer the Mark IV. Your 1.1 L is an amazing survivor, just the sort of thing which fitted in on Saturday!
@@lloydvehicleconsulting it was a real shame that there was only one other mk3 at the show as they in my (biased) opinion are some of the most unexceptionable cars from the 80’s (along side the mk4 escorts as they are very similar). It would have been great to see another mk3L at this show but it was unlikely as there’s only about 100 mk3L left and even less of them have the engine 1.1 it’s also grate to know that there’s a 1.3 kicking about as there are just so few left.
The attrition rate for the Mark III and Mark IV Escorts is appalling considering they were frequently the best sellers in the 1980s. But then, they really didn't have a lot of value for many years as they were so common and unexceptional.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting I can’t find any solid numbers but there’s roughly 10k escorts registered today (mk1-mk6) which I imagine are mostly the high speck models and there was roughly 20 million produced in total which I find amazing and quite sad
It's like so many other cars, Metros, Maestros and Montegos (the latter being a particular favourite of mine) also have an absolutely appalling attrition rate considering how many they made. Rust and low secondhand values tend to be the biggest reasons why. They weren't necessarily the best made cars either, much as I love them!
I remember my dad test driving a Hyundai Accent Coupein 96 before buying a base model Megane 1.6e coupe. I recall the Accent coupe only being available as a 1.3 but I think the five door also had a 1.5 option. I remember thinking it seemed a good little car.
Yes, I tried a Mark I Accent in 2022, which was a 1.5 LSi Five Door with an automatic gearbox. It was quite unmemorable to drive in comparison with something like a Mégane Coupé... The Accent Coupé was available with a 1.5 engine in MVi trim.
Where I come from the 1977/78 Ford Cortina 2.0S was the Police Sir. Fiat Una fabulous and a 128. Very forward thinking Nissan Prairie. Very Regal looking Hyundai XG 350. The Corsa B Facelift was a great little car.
Did like your comment about my purple Polo - registered on 1st March 2002. One of the first few on the roads.
Loads of amazing cars!!

Yes sir, it's pure nostalgia for so many of us. I think that is why we like being there, don't we?
@lloydvehicleconsulting yes Sir, but being expats in Australia we depend on people like your good self to record such great days out..
Sir, we record such events in great deal for posterity, even if the quality is awful.

We have already had this discussion, sir.

Goin to keep me occupied for a few days watching all the parts you have a unique way of videoing. It's factual and informative
Sir, no one else is insane enough to do what I do, that is for certain!
That was the shape sunny I had, it was a great car. Took me to Germany easily.
I love the N14 Sunnys. I got close to buying one last year, but I am also more than happy with my N13 Sunny. Both are nice and easy to drive.

Yes, I don't think that you would let into most car shows with a Laguna II! Getting rare now, and not very valuable either.
Another fantastic shuffle round FOTU sir, a bit of forbidden fuel dodgeing going on.
