We fixed the handling
What did it cost?
Pace
He did offer that setup to Tom97 who was doing Qatar time trial last night. With few changes (bit lower ride height and adjusted wings to Qatar) he was able to be very close to his PB which he set with Ronhaar's setup, and crutially it was way more consistent, meaning it was also better for tyre saving. So not that much slower, especially for a race.
Well, I ain't mad about lower pace... cause on F1 23 I watched Jarno Opmeer beat 110AI by something like 30 seconds... the best drivers should be ON PAR with the best AI... if you can't beat the AI at the level you were last year either lower the difficulty (and deal with your childish hurt ego) or you know... GET BETTER AT DRIVING...
Sorry but nobody in the world should be able to drive more than 1sec faster than the fastest AI per lap... that's literally bad game design...
@@sportschool3537the 110 ai aren’t quick tho they take the corners normally like any ai over 100 and are stupidly quick in a straight line
@@africanpenguin3104 Maybe they have less rear wing and more speed? I don't know... obviously AI shouldn't have more speed than you in a straight line by default... that's retarded... I always though try to make sense of a game before I start screaming at devs... I hate people that scream before forming an opinion based on facts...
Anyway... I hope the game isn't a total flop... at least the multiplayer lobbies will be fun
Your respect
The best set-up is to eject the F124 disk and re-insert the F123 one.
Do disks still exist?
@@masso392 ofc they do
@@jellyoscar_100 No, the best setup is to learn what the fuck an anti-roll bar is... this dude doesn't know what he's doing and/or he's click baiting you... you wanna make the car more oversteery? lower the front anti-roll and/or raise the value of the real anti-roll bar... with both on 0 you have a very understeery rear end and a very point front end which SUCKS... and if you put them both at max you have a very oversteery rear end while the front won't turn... which is even worse...
All Alex proved is that he's the classic racing gamer who has NO FUCKING CLUE how a car is setup and what each part of the car does... all he knows is throttle goes vroom vroom...
This is sad... such pathetic click bait...
How old school 🤣
@@racefreak9488 i agree with u, people too lazy to go to the shops. only reason people buy disks is only if u buy it used or selling
They trusted verstappen with the handing and now we have a car only he can handle just like every teammate he had
Good point
Pretty sure they just made him try it and asked what do you think 😂
I still can't understand how an artificial unrealistic handling can appeal to anybody, even casual players... isn't it better to go full sim and add more traction control for beginners?I find Assetto Corsa easier to drive than F1 because it feels more natural
Exactly!
Yep this combined with good force feedback and detail are infinitely better, because you at least understand why the car is doing what it’s doing
The more realistic the handling, the less fun it is for controller players. The F1 game is too popular to isolate those players. They are the majority of the player base! There’s a reason why sim games exist
100%, I agree. Realism is better for casual and serious players alike as things act as expected. The force feedback and general grip of the car tell me when the car will snap and practice tells me how to catch the snap/slide. This game's new handling model seems unrealistic, and I doubt I will buy the game until I hear of a big patch/update from EA.
Exactly that! I can be fast with the VRC Formula Alpha 2023 (which imho is the most realistic F1 car in any sim) can correct slides and stuff while I suck hard at Codies games
Sounds like me driving in assetto corsa with all of the tire “skrrt skrrtt” noises I’m here when he turns the wheel. It also looks like the handling team previously worked on a drifting game.
I think we all crank up tyres audio in AC to hear the slide, very common and recommended in sim racing
I can just say that I can't wait for Assetto Corsa Evo, I'm not going to buy this crap
I’m with you brother! iRacing until Evo comes out! 🙌🏼
@@Fr3ddaK Unfortunately I'm console player, so no iRacing for me :/
I'll play Assetto Corsa and F1 23 until ACE comes out 😅
I mean sure I also cant wait for Evo but they are hardly in the same category. Just because both feature 4 wheel vehicles doesnt mean you could compare them. Its like comparing tarkov with call of duty.
I'm really hyped for the upcoming PS5 Versions... Unfortunately I have no PC sooo yeah 😢😂
After three hours of practicing yesterday, I’m realizing that the key is not too whack the car around like I was in 23 and drive slower and smoother . The game rewards you for driving slow and steady . You’re supposed to manage the car. The handling was designed to try and kill you 😂
That sound of the tires sliding…. Awfulness 😢
Omg its horrid and sounds so cheap
They put in squeaky tyres sounds ?
I'm glad I stopped buying this crap
You don't like stock sound effects from the 80s? Forza used the same CD sound compilation 😂
?@@KevKlopper
the game engineers saying trust me rather than listening to feedback
Their fat egos are needed to be fed with a fat pot of money: They are literally Ego Engine!
Ego engine, more like ego engineers
At least they're trying something new. I can understand that physics isn't easy. I can't understand staying on the same old physics just tweaking some numbers every 12 months and calling it a day.
Let's hope this means the next F1 game or the one after that finally has decent enough physics
@@void_snw oh boo hoo a billion dollar company has difficulties
let's congratulate the poor company for trying something new (and cutting other older good things)
To clarify: putting the camber MORE NEGATIVE (to the left) increases the angle of the tyres, making them MORE TILTED, giving you better grip when the car is leaning on the tyres in corners but worse grip when it's going straight.
And as for general suspension stiffness, you can't increase or decrease overall grip. You are trying to find the compromise between handling bumps and curbs and keeping the aero platform efficient. You can affect front vs rear grip since you control where the weight gets supported (and thus, which pair of tyres loses grip more than the other, because any weight transfer = less overall grip). Similar thing for rollbars.
There is something very fundamentally wrong with the physics model
Olayed since 2010 , stopped at 21 got 23 for free
And thats how it will stay
I guess going back to 2020 is the best
makes me wonder if the handling is bad or if codies tweaked the physics without updating the default setups
i hate the fact that it took them this damn long to be able to do a driver career mode as one of the 20 drivers on the grid....something that EA sports has been doing IN EVERY SPORTS GAME for how long now ?????? they couldn't have just made that a F123 update....
You Cant
Always Get
What You Want
So they wont get my money
What? You can't do that in NHL or Madden.
Think i'll stick to using this as the default setup and slowly adapt to making quicker but twitchier adjustments
better hope you don’t click the wrong setup otherwise you’ll be 5 seconds a lap slower than everybody else
I played and enjoyed 23 a lot. After playing F1 24 Beta I had to unlearn the bullshit physics to keep my sanity by playing a lot of 23 again 😂
I love the career changes but the handlings unacceptable and totally unrealistic
And 23 doesn't have bullshit physics? I refunded that game days after launch as it was yet another codies F1 game that drives nothing like a real car. So many people are so used to the terrible physics of regular F1 games that anything different is wrong
@@GhosT396 glad im not the only one with that opinion
How many times you drove F1 car?
@@user-yo8bx2ob4n I believe f1 23 was way too easy, f1 cars aren't easy to drive otherwise everyone would be driving them
Stiffen the rear anti-roll bar. Don't adjust both all the way down at the same time. Unless the game is effed.
Did you REALLY fix it though? or did you just make a setup full of understeer? 😅
Did you try it yet? Everyone seems to think it's much more natural and you can dial out a lot of the understeer by lowering the ride height, it just then feels a bit less natural
@@AlexGillonGameplay I haven’t, but it just seems like this “fix” isn’t a fix and just causes a different issue that we also shouldn’t have 🤣 You even said it yourself right there that it makes it feel less natural 😅😅
@@MerakiF1Hope the devs do something about it it's embarassing
Just try it bro 😂 No point commenting if you haven't tried it
@@AlexGillonGameplay *slams table* Thank you!
but it seems finnaly setups matter by driving style...thats great....setup works, that was all that was missing whit this game....not just left right camber bs
Would you say the initial handling model caters more to the controller players over the wheel players?
Very interesting that you got a completely different setup to Brendon Leigh when he tried to make a enjoyable setup. He completely stiffened all the suspension and maxed out the ride height
Yea I tried his setup and I wasn't a huge fan, it felt a bit like F1 23, but still had a lot of the flaws of F1 24
what is your in game rotation set to? Have you found a sweet spot?
I tried this set up after using default, never again 🤣 the thing just won’t stop
Why not trying to make the rear wing higher than the front wing? Would be the first thing that comes to my mind when the car is slidey and unstable on throttle out of low speed corners
the game is made by the engineer from project cars 2, aka drifting cars 2, no matter u did the car is just sliding at all, hope this help : )
Any possibility of sharing list of your components:? trying to set up from scratch ...
They need to install certain level of optimized settings as default for each circuit
I believe Le Mans ultimate does it right ?
It's clear as mud 😌
with all the pre-release coverage of how bad the handling is, if people still buy this year's game and then complain, they deserve it. you know the handling sucks going in, so don't buy a $70 livery update with broken handling. It's going to be so annoying seeing people buy this yet still complain despite knowing it sucks before buying it.
Having watched countless videos of you on track over the years. This is the first video I’ve watched on big screen. Off you in 24. Instantly noticed how scruffy the lap looked Compared to how smooth 23 and 22.
yeah so setup are actually a thing now rather than the usual llrr ect bs isn't that good, now your setup can be quite personal rather the generic everyone always do.
well they just uploaded a 11gig handling update. 1 day before prelaunch. hope its a good one
If EA and CodeMasters listened to us, this game would be golden
EA heard that Verstappen likes cars with a sharp front end
Is it worth getting this as my first f1 game?
Wow, you have your steering wheel so low - in your lap and you use T-Cam view! Have you tried Cockpit view? It's awesome.
Lowering the wing would not give you more downforce
This Alex guy should be part of fixing the "Ego Engine", but certainly he wont because his role is only limited to marketing by "Ego Arts".
Alex have you tuned a car irl before?
Absolute legend. Esports is gonna be fun this year xd
Personally I am shocked people are complaining about understeer, I played the beta and had the complete opposite opinion, feels way better from 23 for me and I think 23 had way more understeer and less grip. I guess it may come down to driving style or preference cause in the beta I had no problems being fast on default setup.
Fastest I've ever clicked save on watch later
Doesn’t seem promising that it took you so much effort just to make the handling feel how it should to begin with. Casual players will probably take a big hit. Happy to be proved wrong and that the handling turns out ok, but it doesn’t look good. Good luck Alex and keep up the great content!
casual players probably wont notice
@@ChunkyLover69420at last! Someone who has common sense!
@@CraftageNate I disagree if I'm being honest. I don't play the game super seriously. I have a decent wheel setup. I loved the f1 2020 handling but until I see patch notes and positive feedback from creators, will not be buying f1 2024. I enjoy racing against my friends and having a friend's championship. Where would the fun be if the car is that snappy and unrealistic?
@@ChunkyLover69420The last thing casuals care about is handling. They mainly care about features
@@ChunkyLover69420I’m a casual player. Noticed a massive difference between f1 22 and f1 23. F1 22 was garbage
Just interested to get your take on this Alex if you respond - I understand that you’ve played the game several times throughout its development but if the handling team themselves have developed the handling according to feedback from the drivers, who is to say that it handles incorrectly or wrong unless a driver from the grid comes out and states that? Just because it’s different doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s bad. I think the collective community came to terms that the f1 games will never fully be a sim but as long as it gets close that should be good for everyone since they don’t want to push away casual players.
I think there are tweaks to the physics that are a must on day 0 like the full lock steering since that will definitely get abused, and also aggressively attacking raised kerbs without risk of bottoming out. Otherwise the changes overall to tracks, drivers models are a welcomed improvement.
This isn’t to say you’re wrong Alex, I could be far off. I think it’s a relevant discussion.
Appreciate the constructive discussion here, people veer too far into rage comments these days!
It's a good point, but one thing you have to consider is that F1 drivers are PR machines. They will gain nothing by publicly saying negative things about the game. Plus EA literally pay several drivers these days, so anything they say should be considered an ad.
That's not to say that this game is necessarily less realistic overall, maybe it is more realistic. But hopefully people see when they play it - the car just doesn't feel natural to drive. Whether something is realistic or not, it should feel natural and intuitive to drive, which F1 24 doesn't currently.
There's a very good reason that almost every quick driver has had a negative reaction to the handling of F1 24 when they've tried it. I did check with many other people to make sure I wasn't barking up the wrong tree, but there's so many people that dislike how it feels that it must be true
@@AlexGillonGameplay One thing to keep in mind however, is that F1 game youtubers have hundreds, if not thousands of hours playing the games since F1 22 on a very similar handling model. Since the handling in F1 24 has been changed so heavily, it is going to feel unnatural to begin with. I'm not saying there are no problems with the handling and the physics, every racing title in existence has issues somewhere. Even ACC and iRacing have their issues. But all the F1 game youtube content creators are going into F1 24 expecting a certain response based upon how the older games drive, but getting a brand new reaction that they are unfamiliar with.
There will undoubtedly be things with the handling that need fixing and tweaking, but I do also think you are all making a bigger deal out of this than there really needs to be right at this particular moment.
I'm starting to regret preordering this shiii
More rear bar would make the car rotate more..
should not be having to do this / game looks like a shambles atm
I think im to slow, to realise the issue. I think it drives fine for what it is, but i like a twitchy front end
As a casual/intermediate player I can say the new handling is just weird. And the changes were supposedly made for players like me.
The car feels insanely unnatural and the handling is also just off
Realism= tcam with a wheel 😂😂
Same game as last year but slightly worse and some have the need to buy it. Makes sense.
People are saying this is crap but I've already pre ordered it, although seeing ppl not like the handling makes me wanna play even more, i wanna see how it is😅
You will just regret buying this awful game
How small is that brain of yours
Why preorder something that is crap?
@@DanielDorn-tr7tw I pre ordered it before any gameplay footage
I played beta and handling was fine, just think these esports peoples driving styles are not suited to new game, It feels fine for me. Maybe they too used to crap handling in past games.
Post this setup to help one like me that are not that in tune with the physics. Pre Release or full release. PLEASE
Me rn: turn the ai level down, I've got a new setup
now i wonder if other than the curbs being to easy to ride over etc.. is the handling that bad or is it simply that the player base don't like anything that change, so most just jumped into the game put an f123 setup which obviously didn't work and rather doing some test, experimentations etc they just go to socials and started crying.
17:50 Setup
maybe try putting both diffs above 50%
Looks like the suspension is to soft in your setting
DISCLAIMER - not a defence of the game, have not played it. However, what does "natural" mean in this context? What you are comfortable with? What you percieve an F1 car should drive like? How driveable it is? Any definition short of what an actual F1 car feels like to drive is deeply subjective. Sadly, none of us have any idea what an actual F1 car actually feels like to drive. Maybe comfortable is a better description.
They had a stream event with Leclerc and Albon and a few others playing F124 and they had problems adapting to the game, hitting walls here in there on the Monaco GP. So what does it say about the game?
@@DanielDorn-tr7twtbf people were doing the same irl
Yeah damage was off they knew they could get away with it that's why they were doing it
Can only speak for myself but I’d still be a fan if you chose another game
Can you use mouse and keyboard for navigation in the menu now ??
Keyboard always? Mouse? What is this you speak of? 😁
@@MegaStevieJay
In f1 2021 you can't use mouse and keyboard to navigate the race menu have to use controler or your wheel ???
@@rookey8061 yeah I know its not going to be added on this engine as long as they stick with it.
After watching this video, I don't want to hear the word understeer for at least a month.
Would more engine breaking charge ers faster?
Yes, but according to my previous video, most of the recharge happens in a straight now, so I don't think this will be a major factor
I find the content creators, who let’s not forget, probably don’t even pay for the game, saying the handling is rubbish and throwing their toys out of the pram over it, somewhat annoying. The game isn’t just made for them or sim racers but they seem to believe they have a monopoly on how the game is developed.
And unfortunately they do. Crazy how Max Verstappen and Lando Norris didn’t complain.
Ngl I was hoping for the handling in 24 compared to 23 to be a bit more in the nose cuase it’s just the type of car I like but this must was a lot too much ngl. But I think that we will be able to figure it out!! I’m just a delusion person that has gotten every game since 2015 so this is my 10th game and yeah I know I’m stupid for getting all the games but at this point, it’s more of a collection if me to get every f1 game that I’ve been playing for.
The handling looks fine unless you go full steer lock it goes and looks very unnatural
The work it took to get to this point, is a sign that this game isn't the one for me. Good luck to all the content creators and F1 Sim racing guys that have to deal with this bullshit. I'll pass, or wait for a handling patch.
I hate the tyre screeches....
What are these cam settings 💀💀💀
I love everything about Project Cars, but I can't play it because I can't stand the handling. When I heard that the new handling developer for the F1 games was the one responsible for Project Cars... let's just say im sticking with F1 23 (this comes from a pad player)
how are people all getting such early release!
RUclipsrs get early access like every year. Others played the beta
Why they stick the rev/speed counter overlay on top of the steering wheel is beyond me. You spend a good 15 mins moving it for every single session type. It’s unbelievably annoying.
thanks alex for your enlightening videos.....they have once again patched a game created for the occasional offline player, a pure arcade playable only with a pad, never a right perspective, they don't really consider online, the only objective is cash in forgetting those who care about the passion for racing. If you do a time trial it's a disaster let alone in an online race where the temperatures don't rise etc...Kunos buy the license and free us from ea/cm 😂😂😂
cmon,fast corner understeer...stiffen front susp....and start whit camber...setup work
Why? Why? Why? Its the first time I preorder a game and nearly everyone says its a worse handling. Is it even bad with traction control? Otherwise I cancel my pre-order.
Traction control has not really to do with handling. The car just feels shit everyhere
Just cancel the preorder. Get your money back
I would cancel until it gets fixed, if it does. Just my opinion
You are doing the exactly opposite of Brendon Leigh
Get lando on it and see what he says
All they had to do was copy 23,s handling model and it would of been fine
EA codies were copy pasting the useless stuff, while changing & overwriting things thats isnt broken, truly are the masters of coding.
Car has adhd just all over the place no real consistency just like me with my adhd
I hate when you turn in to corners the camera leans away. You can't even disable that from the settings. Makes me want to punch my monitor.
I hope they change something so you creators can at least have content people wanna see. If a ton more people dont buy it then why would they wanna watch it. I watch you videos to learn about the game
Oh so you discovered settings? What a revelation.
It needs to be patched and overhauled. If they leave it like this. RIP competitive league racing
NEVER start setup work whit wing levels!!!!
Imagine being ead imagine
You can fix the car but probably not your hairline
Jk love your bald head and the matter of fact you upload consistently
What a disaster.
Funny how Brendon went the opposite way ruclips.net/video/MWtAxoaZvaE/видео.htmlsi=ekGwHcGIJkBhxrKB
Why wasting time? They will patch the handling for sure my bet is they just apply the f123 handling so what is new than? a few updates here and there that is it
They will patch the handling and call it F1 25
It looks a little better, but it's still weird and unnatural.
I just don't see the "value" in this years game! What is worth the "full price" for a game that offers so very little over last years game that we already have with 2024 liveries that the modding community have already made.. it doesn't make sense whatsoever!
If you don’t want to hate it don’t play it and just mod F1 23
holy ... if u need to change so much to make it just okay, its not worth the Time imo ... i want to buy and play the Game not make Changes over a Decade to make it feel good and closer to realism .... wtf are the Developers doing all the Time ... do they get payed for this Result? .... i invest my money in iRacing for the next F1 Year, just less Anger.
🤣
WE ALL NEED TO BOYCOTT THIS GAME, MAKE THEM KNOW WE DONT WANT IT
whoever did develop this handling drives with a controller what a joke...2023 was imo perfect you can build on it but it was good as it was best handling in a simcade ever
I hate F1 24 handling and its Rev meter so lame.
Play with f1 23 then... easy. and let people play with the new f1 24. People always cry. I did not cry because f1 23 was shit as hell. I hoped the new handling will be better. For me it is better. let my play with the new handling please.
Nah fuck this F1 24 game
