‘Buena Vista Social Club at Carnegie Hall’ is the recording of the historic performance at New York’s famous Carnegie Hall (one of only 3 concerts ever played by the original line-up), which became the centre-piece of the hugely successful 1999 film directed by Wim Wenders. Produced by Ry Cooder and released 10 years after the show took place, the album features brilliant and unrepeatable performances by legends including Ibrahim Ferrer, Compay Segundo, Rubén González, Eliades Ochoa, Omara Portuondo, Cachaíto López, and Guajiro Mirabal.

I was born in a very primitive village in Eastern province of Rwanda, what i remember is that this song and another one called "guantanamera" were like national anthems. It was the time before we get access to internet, every music was played on National Radio. Good old days.
I was in Cuba on vacation from Canada when I heard this song... The cuban residents kept playing it at the resort over and over again.. Even when I went on the trips to cuban villages, they kept playing this song. I am so happy that the cuban culture has brought me this song being a white Canadian. This is now one of my favourite songs to listen to.
