The house in Cala Carbó, southwest of Ibiza island, is a stunning example of architectural adaptation and integration within its environment. Despite not being situated directly on the coastline,
Norkus house its strategic placement within a suburban context and the sloped terrain grants it exceptional views of the sea, the sunset, and the iconic Es Vedrà islet.
The design of the house ingeniously addresses the challenge of preserving neighboring views by featuring two distinct volumes that harmonize with the surroundings.
The ground level hosts one longitudinal volume oriented east-west, accommodating communal spaces like the living/dining/kitchen area, seamlessly connected to the outdoor pool area.
Additionally, a bedroom with an en suite bathroom, along with service and utility rooms, are situated on this floor. Contrastingly, the first level comprises a transversely placed volume facing north-south, housing two more bedrooms with en suite bathrooms.
The southern tip of this volume extends as a cantilever, providing shade for the terrace and pool below while adding a distinctive architectural element.
The choice of materials further accentuates the geometric interplay of the design. Natural stone masonry at the ground level juxtaposes with exposed concrete on the first floor, lending solidity to the structure.
The meticulous execution of the exposed concrete, achieved through precise collaboration between the developer, builder, and technical team, underscores the project's commitment to detail and craftsmanship. The concrete volume appears to float above the stone base, enhancing its visual impact.
The architects, Arquit3ctes and West Coast Properties, along with the lead architects Javier Acebes, Carlos Rey de Viñas, and Victor Abellán, have masterfully orchestrated every aspect of the project.
